stayed just one night after arrival at Vancouver before traveling over to Vancouver Island. We are a family of 5 and the 2 bed apartment suited us perfectly. Well located in downtown for easy walking access to shops and restaurants. Good value too. Returned to Vancouver later on trip but had to stay elsewhere (carmana was full). Other hotel was much lower quality but charged almost same price

“Centrally located, no frills condo-style hotel”

The Carmana Plaza hotel is in a great location, with restaurants, a supermarket, and a 7-11 on the same block as the hotel. They don't have any store or restaurant in the hotel, but each room has a kitchen and dining area. We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite, which had a king-size bed (they say it is a queen) and a pullout couch. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable. Housekeeping was friendly and courteous. Be aware that there are hidden costs, though that is typical of hotels today. Parking in their underground area is $15 a day even if you are staying in the hotel. There is NO internet capability, but nearby coffee shops have WiFi. The pullout couch costs $20 a day in addition to whatever your room rate is, and they have a lock on the hide-a-bed to ensure the fee is paid. The bedroom has a small flatscreen TV on the wall, and there's a TV cabinet in the living room with a small full-size TV inside. The windows next to the bed and ktichen table are floor-to-ceiling, which can be uncomfortable for some. We were on the 12th floor, which made the view down a little scary, but it was very quiet at night. The front desk staff seemed a bit amateur. When we asked for bus directions to Stanley park, they told us the wrong bus stop and the wrong bus number. Fortunately, a city native gave us better directions when we realized that we were waiting at the wrong bus stop. Overall, if the price works for you and you don't have high expectations, the clean rooms were worth it.
