Stay was excellent, hotel was close by to everything ( train station - 10 mins, Matter horn cable car - 15 mins walk, Spar express market - next door ) The receptionist/manger was so friendly and very helpful, I recommend this this hotel to all

Great stay
The bed and comforter were super comfortable. The room and balcony were very spacious. It’s an older hotel but it’s cute and everything works. I didn’t get a chance to visit the sauna but it looks new and clean. Service staff were amazing. Wifi is very weak and unreliable.

Grand Old Hotel in need of TLC!
This hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade. All the fittings are old and the rooms incredibly dark. The lighting is totally inadequate. We had to use the torch on our phone to see in the wardrobe! No lounge or bar and front door locked at 22:00. Breakfast was adequate at best However; it was very clean and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. There is a good ski room We did not use the Wellness centre so can’t comment. It’s position in the town is good and handy for most things. Pleasant and helpful driver to shuttle you and luggage to and from station. This was obviously once a grand hotel in the middle of Zermatt but has seen little if any investment this century.

Probably the best choice and value for a tight bud
I was very impressed with this place! I enjoyed my stay very much.. I arrived early around 10am and they allowed me to check in early. Woman at the desk was very helpful and friendly. Rooms are spacious, clean, and have a great view. Breakfast also was better than I expected and the coffee was great!

Quite a nice hotel cozy with some view of snow capped mountains in Sept. lot of restaurants around. Breakfast is simple and enough to get the day started. Room was big with comfortable beds.

The hotel’s location was excellent-near the town center.Our room was spacious enough for 3 people, with an amazing view of the Matterhorn.The pub downstairs was quite noisy though, even with the windows closed. Breakfast was ok, except that they don’t seem to refill the food anymore after 9am (breakfast ends at 10am). It would also be nice if they added a coffee maker in the room. Overall, still a good place to stay at in Zermatt.

Great ski town and hotel was perfect
very nice hotel and the staff went out of their way to help. The bar down the street could be loud if you haven't skied all day. I however, slept like a baby.

A good stay
This hotel needs to upgrade the facilities: bed mattress, lights etc. Not quality to grade as 4 star hotel. Good room size and breakfast. Location is okay and 10 mins walking to train station and supermarket.

Hotel astoria apartments
There was me and my dad staying in the apartment for our skiing holiday. We stayed bed and breakfast. The staff were lovely and helpful, nice food. The room was clean and had everything you needed. Very good location in terms on close to bus stops to take you to whichever ski lifts. Was a very pleasant stay and we will be returning here again.

Great staff, good breakfast, comfy room, Noisy bar
Overall a good stay. Staff helpful and friendly. Room comfortable and very clean. Showers worked well with high pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast good with decent coffee, which was nice. Sauna and steam room all brand new and a nice extra to have. Only downside is the Papperla bar downstairs. This can get very noisy. It’s a Zermatt institution so not likely to go away any time soon! It’s a shame as it does affect the hotel. Earplugs would help, but I heard from people in the rooms directly above the bar that they could feel the bass through their room.

Great values and locations in Zermatt
Really love this hotel and location. It does provide free shuttle from Zermatt stations. Just need to inform the hotel before you arrive. When I reach zermatt station, I call the hotel for the free shuttle and was inform that there be a fee for it. I was very surprised because when I booked, it mention with free shuttle. Anyway I decided to walk all the way to the hotel. It was a lovely walk and surprisingly it was not far. About 5~ minutes. When I reach the hotel, the receptionist did apologies for the misunderstand about the free shuttle because he was new there. Just 2 days at his work. I was promised a room with Matterhorn view on the top floor and the receptions make a mistake and wanted to give me another room on the 2nd floor. After much hesitation, the reception managed to fine my records with my correct room ands did apologies again. Other than that, everything was perfect. The room was spaces and the baloney with the Matterhorn view was beautiful. Breakfast was great too. I would definitely stay again at this hotel if in Zermatt. And would recommend this hotel.

Nice location and extremely friendly staff
Hotel is located at nice quiet side street but near to all the attraction. Room has a small size balcony but enough to enjoy the surrounding. Bath room has a large and deep bath tub. Notices there was no coffee machine in the room. The hotel staff is very helpful and extremely friendly, we are satisfy with our staying.

Nice hotel, we had great view of Matterhorn
Hotel picked us up from Train station, Taa and Christa (Spelling for both?) were super hosts! As was the rest of the staff. Very helpful in providing information on hikes, restaurants, getting around and information about the area.

Nice cosy, comfortable room with balcony. Has elevator. Very helpful staff. Only thing missing is no hot kettle provided in the room. When the weather is cold most of the time. Staff was helpful and able to get hot water fr their restaurant dispenser.

Great place in Zermatt - traditional swiss chalet
Great value and a good location. We loved the feel of the chalet. It was very traditional. The room was spacious with a wrap around balcony. The bed was comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for an authentic Swiss experience - this is a great place.

A pleasant enough hotel. We had a double room on the first floor with a balcony overlooked by other local hotels but with some views o0f the hillside. Perhaps rather expensive at around £130 per night given the limited facilities, but it was a stay over a weekend in August. Pleasant if unremarkable. probably a junior suite on a high floor with views of the mountains would have been better, and more expensive. Oh, and Zermatt restaurants are ridiculously expensive! Try eating in the pubs if a restaurant every night starts to become over-bearing on the wallet

Great stay!
Really enjoyed our stay in Astoria. Rooms are spacious with vaulted ceilings, had a huge wrap around balcony overseeing a Matterhorn. Chresta- the receptionist at the hotel - made us feel at home. Will always recommend to family and friends.

Surprise relocation
Upon check in, we were told our room was given to a group booking & payment unprocessed because Hotel couldn't bother to check with Expedia why credit card details were incorrect. We were given an old apartment around the corner, which was poorly maintained. Hotel has an electric car used for guest transfer from Zermatt train stattion. We were told to ring up upon arrival to train station, which was not possiblle because my mobile phone had no reception. Next morning breakfast had limited choices remaining & we could tell most food were consumed by earlier guests.

Nice Hotel
The room was very nice, staff very friendly. The only issue was with the bathtub. The sides of the tub were to high and the tub was very slippery. My uncle has had knee replacements on both legs and found it very difficult to get in and out. The tub didn't have any safety handles or anti slip mats.

Traditional Swiss-type Hotel
It took about 10 minutes walk from Zermatt station to this hotel and you might find a bit tired if you carried a big lugguge to there. Though we had asked the staff if we could be offered their free transport to Zermatt station, he could not give definite answer but advised to hire a taxi for us around CHF 12. I dont's think it was a good service as this request raised two days before our departure and other hotel could have this offer upon request.

Charming room and hotel, big room, balcony facing Matterhorn, quiet, 10 mins from railroad, xlnt breakfast -- juices, eggs, meats, cheeses, croissants, bread, butter, fruit, yogurts, cereal, etc. Only downside, more expensive than we wanted (~$175/night)

Amazing staff at a FANTASTIC hotel.
A very nice cosy hotel with great balconies to view the scenery. Great location within walking distance of everything. Staff was so gracious and friendly, and breakfasts were great. Definitely looking forward to staying there again.
