“Would definitely recommend”
My partner and I were both very impressed by this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful (my airline lost my luggage and the reception staff made several phone calls and were able to track it down). The meals we had in the hotel restaurant were among the best we had in Uruguay and Argentina, and the wait staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very charming and confortable. The swimming area is great and the spa is delicious! The single critique: the food is expensive and bad, hence the best thing to do is eat out.

“Very Nice Hotel”
We chose the AWA hotel, even though it's not right on the beach, because of other reviews that indicated it was a newer, nicer hotel. When we got there, we entered a lovely lobby cooled by the ocean breezes and were greeted by front-desk staff with a glass of champagne. Nice touch. The room itself was not huge, but large enough with a very comfortable king-size bed and mini-fridge. A large picture window in the room looked out on well-maintained grounds. We had a small problem with an area of the bathroom they had missed cleaning, but that was rectified immediately. We also had a problem with the AC not working properly, which they tried to fix but it never did work completely. Since the weather was relatively mild, we didn't press it. The dining room where we had a good breakfast each morning (mainly fruit and pastry) opened out onto a very nice outdoor dining and pool area. There were houses behind the hotel where we heard quite a few dogs barking and, of all things, a rooster and chickens, but once you were inside the hotel it was very quiet. We were not there on Friday or Saturday when they have live music, so I'm not sure if that would have been a problem. The hotel is about 6 - 8 blocks from the Brava (Atlantic) beach and a few blocks from the main shopping area, which was very convenient. Cab rides to the peninsula and Mansa (river) beach were reasonable at between 5 to 8 dollars U.S. If we're ever lucky enough to go to Punta del Este again, we would stay at the AWA.
“Loved it!”
Lovely hotel, attention to details. Although the room wasn't huge, it was comfortable, with enough space. It was nicely decorated, with design furniture and lamps signed by designers such as Philippe Starck and Michele de Lucchi. The acoustic isolation of the room wasn't the best, but it wasn't really a problem. Breakfast was good, although we missed natural juices (all of them were artificial). Staff was very kind.
“Very Nice”
A good find. Our room wasn't quite ready when we got there, but they offered us complementary champagne while we waited (15 minutes) in the lounge. Pool area was nice. About a 15-20 minute walk to the beaches which may be the only downside (or upside if you're trying to escape too many tourists). Restaurant was very good, although somewhat expensive. Staff was very helpful. Would definitely rebook if we were to go back to Punta del Este.
“Great find for boutique hotel in Punta”
We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. Staff was great, pool area, breakfast, spa, and other amenities were all better than expected for a boutique hotel in otherwise overpriced and not always service-friendly Punta Del este during high season. We would definitely recommend AWA to anyone traveling to Punta.

This is a good and little boutique hotel, not so far away from the beach. Its very complete with a great breakfast.
