Outdated and simple interior, overpriced hotel
Outdated and very simple interior. Did not get the room I booked, the hotel had simply downgraded me to another type of room and assumed that was ok. No iron in the room. Overpriced. Not recommended.

Nice hotel close to the Airport and the fjords are
we spent 3 nights at Scandic Tromso during our Aurora chase tour and it was great, good position, good opportunities for driving on your own and explore the near fjords

Perfectly pleasant hotel but.......
Basically in a semi industrial area not close to town or harbour. In hindsight would probably choose to stay at a more central hotel. Access to town would outweigh the additional expense but if you are on a budget then choose this hotel which is better value for money however beware taxi rides are not cheap and can mount up considerably.

Avoid If Possible
I was not very impressed during my stay here. The bathroom was very dirty. It looked as if nobody had given the floor of the shower a good cleaning in quite a while. The building is in some major need of renovations. The staff were okay, but seemed to not want to do much to help you if you needed something. I would suggest trying to find another hotel to book, because this one was not worth the price I paid for the convenience of being close to the airport.

Good for airport
Good place to stay close to airport. Only a few minutes away from airport, so very convenient for early morning flights. A bit away from the town itself though. Hotel itself was fine - the restaurant food was good and staff friendly and helpful.

This hotel has seen better days. It is ok if you like to stay close to the airport and the Jekta Shopping Centre. If you like to experience Tromso, I would go for a hotel down town. Remember that Tromso is a quite concentrated city, and that a taxi from the town to the airport is not very much more expensive than from this hotel due to the minimum charges.

4 Winter Nights In (Scandic) Tromsoe in February
We really liked this hotel which is a non-flashy practical 'business' type hotel close to the airport, albeit plenty of holidaymakers too. It had a nice relaxed and informal atmosphere and we found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room, linen etc. were fresh and clean. Rooms at the front of the hotel have an interesting view out past the airport to the mountains/fjord -will try to attach a photo if I can work out how. The planes coming and going at the airport was an interest and not a noise problem (not too close and multiple glazing). Excellent breakfast buffet. Also ate there a couple of times in the evening and the food was good and quite reasonably priced esp.given Norwegian prices. We brought in our own duty-free alcoholic drinking supplies. Plenty of car parking (apparently not always the case in the centre of town). We had a hire car so as to be able to explore the area a little under our own steam; without one then going into the town centre although not a great distance would have been more tricky on foot (though we didn't really try this out in the snow and ice) or typically require taxis, but having a car was part of our basis for choosing this hotel anyway. Short drive into town parking tunnels where parking not too extortionate. Satnav was a godsend at times. The hotel has a gym etc. though we didn't use these facilities.

Great for someone with a car

Good value for reasonable price
Very nice hotel location on a hill overlooking Tromso - great pictures from the dining room and from the hotel entrance :-) The receptionist was extremely helpful and shared lots of useful information about Tromso, transportation and hotel options (e.g. she advised we could get breakfast packages, since we were checking out early, before breakfast time). Rooms were clean and very much ok - nice and warm after we came back from the Northern Lights watching :-) Close to the airport, which is also useful, when you are taking an early flight back home - 5 min by car.

A decent hotel which
Stayed in the Scandic for one week. Close to the airport, and easy enough to get to and from by bus while visiting the city, once you've located the nearby station. Room was clean and comfortable. Wifi didn't work in my room on the third floor, so I had to stay in the lobby at all times to be connected, which was annoying. No grip on the floor of the bathtub/shower which caused me to fall - probably why it's standard in all other hotels! With those two issues fixed I would have had a much better stay.

Hotel was clean but needs upgrading. View is very nice of the airport, water, and mountains if you get the right room. While an airport hotel, getting to the airport is not really any more convenient than from a hotel in town by public transport. Unless the weather is nice and you have just a backpack you will need a bus or cab just as if you were in town, and the bus will be the same price regardless of distance traveled. Rooms needs a fridge, some sprucing up, and the hotel could use more than one internet computer downstairs, an airport shuttle service on demand, as well as an instruction sheet on the time-saving back paths from the hotel to shopping and public transport hub. A decent hotel that can beand cheap if you can get the right expedia promotion. Easy to park and use as a base of operations if you have a car.

A pleasant hotel a little bit out of town. A bus station is about half a mile away so quite easy to get places. Amazing buffet breakfast. Shame about the stuffed polar bear in the reception. Seems to be a pre-requisite for businesses in Tromso for some reason.

Very satisfactory stay.

The name on Hotel.com was Tromso Hotel. Lucky for us most people in Norway spoke enough english to help us. But no one had heard of it. We finally found it as Scandic Hotel Tromso. The road was under construction and only one sign. After stopping 3x for directions it was easy. A shopping mall is 5 min walking distance. 3 seperate groups of shops double layer. Sauna was nice. Ate in shopping mall both nights and used the grocery store to try local items we had never seen before. Breakfast the first morning was a zoo. Two tour groups were eating just before their deadline and tables were very hard to get. But they kept clearing and refilling so it worked out well. The food was well presented and good. Our room was a double but really a twin shoved together. Each person had a thier own sort of mattress. Comfortable but not what we expected. It was consistant with what we found every where we stayed. Would probably try and stay downtown if I went again.

A good hotel, not too far from the centre.
The rooms was pleasant, with plenty of power points for chargers etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. Though near and convenient for the airport there was no noise or disturbance from it.

Good hotel with excellent breakfast and Spartan but comfortable rooms. Location is pretty bad, you need to ask/persuade tour operators to pick up/drop off at the hotel (several km away from downtown Tromso) Taxis are quick and efficient but the bus is better, pity that only ONE receptionist could give me details of how/where to catch the bus - Staying downtown would have been cheaper in the long run

Location very poor in relation to city centre.Room and facilities sparce, bed very poor.Outward opening room door gave impression of entering a cupboard, not very good first impressions! Out of 3 hotels used during our holiday the Scandic was the only one to charge for coffee. Restaurant prices encouraged visitors to find the local supermarket.

A lovely getaway
A great room with lovely snowy views. A lovely breafst to set you up for the day as well. The problem was that we arrived on a Sunday and everything is closed on a sunday ! The resturaunt wasn't open so we had to get a taxi into town for food. Walk down to the bus station (about 10 mins) and get a 24hr or 48 hr bus ticket - the easiest and cheapest way to get around and the buses are great ! They run on time and are the perfect way to get round. Check all the opening times of attractions locally as they were all different to the guide books etc !

Scandic in February 2010
I stayed at the Scandic in Tromso for 3 days at the end of February 2010. This is a superb budget hotel with comfortable rooms and a good breakfast. Its not very far from the airport and although you may be tempted to take a taxi I recommend the 20 minute instead because the views are superb. You get the same views from the first floor of the hotel when you have breakfast. Highly recommended.

Romme var spartansk, veldig lite for 2 voksne og en 10 åring. Madrass på gulvet og tre store bager så hadde vi ikke gulvplass. 1 lenestol og 1 puff. Personell hyggelig og god frokost.

Hotellet holder vel på å stenge for godt, og godt er det! Her har det ikke vært gjort noe på lenge, og det preger hotellet. Hyggelige personer som jobbet der. Prisen står på ingen måte til hva man får.

Helt OK og i nærheten av flyplassen
Litt dårlig skiltet fra flyplassen, men fant frem! Mottatt hyggelig i resepsjonen og i restauranten som lå i 2. etg. Dagens rett ble anbefalt og den var ypperlig og akkurat passe stor for en som ikke spiser så mye. Helt OK for en natts overnatting. Selvsagt noe flystøy i og med at det lå i nærheten av flyplassen.

Utmerket hotell, men utrolig varmt.
Hotellet har ikke aircondition på noen av rommene sine, så det ble forferdelig varmt om dagen. Flyplassen er like i nærheten, men lydisolasjonen er så god at med vinduet lukket kunne vi ikke høre noen ting. Dessverre var vinduet eneste måten å få frisk luft, så det var ikke bare varmt men også bråkete midt på sommerdagen. Anbefales på det sterkeste så lenge det ikke er varmt ute når du skal være på rommet.
