“Toronto's finest”
I can live at this hotel. Awesome stay. The quality of the hotel is top notch. Definitely recommended. It is located in the best part of the downtown. Union station is across the street.
“my Carribana weekend”
I stayed here Friday and Saturday night. I was provided a room away from the "partying" w/o asking. Everyone was extremely polite. You get a discount on the parking so we just parked the car and walked every where since you are right downtown and close to everything. I would definitely stay here next year and take a taxi to the Carribana sight instead of walking though.
“Great location, great service”
Hotel had great service and was connected to the main transit station in Toronto, which meant easy access to every where I needed to go.
“Historic hotel in superb location”
This hotel is ideally located if you are spending a couple of nights in Toronto as we did - the main sights, including the CN Tower and waterfront, are all within easy walking distant. It is a real bonus that it is such a grandiose building with a fascinating history. The rooms are excellent, although may appear a bit old fashioned by modern European standards, and the facilities, especially the bars and restaurants, provide first rate service and represent really good value for money. We booked tickets to the CN Tower and an express trip to Niagra Falls via the concierges, who were extremely polite and helpful. The lobby has to be one of the most impressive you will ever see!
“Royal stay at Royal York”
If you're looking for a fantastic location with a touch of grandeur, you can't go wrong with the Royal York. I've read nit-picking reviews criticising worn decor but they're missing the point. The faded glory is what we loved!
“Based on price paid using Expedia, it was a fantastic value, great old hotel”
Typical for old hotels, bathroom too small, but OK. Also if you get a room with double beds, the rooms a bit too small. With a Fairmont membership you get free internet, very nice.
“Would love to go back”
Found this hotel to be extremely hospitable, comfortable, old time elegant.Lovely room, great mattress! Very responsive and helpful staff.Great extras-pool, health club, amazing shopping concourse in lower level of hotel.Perfect location for visitors-near waterfront, St. Lawrence Market, and right across from train station.
“Lives up to its name.....”
You are royal when it comes to staying here. All walks of life were at the Royal York It is beautiful and grand. The lobby and upper level are beautiful. While sitting in one of the beautiful chairs I thought of what it would have been like many years ago to sit and watch people go by. Our room was a Fairmont ,it was clean nicely decorated and it was stopped in time of years ago.Beds were comfortable. The bathroom was small but beautiful with robes and big fluffy towels. The pool area was small but very nice.I can not say anything negitive about my stay.I can not wait to stay again.
“Blown away by their excellent service; will go back for sure”
Normally we wouldn't have considered a Fairmont property since we thought it would be expensive, but we found a room rate similar to that of a Courtyard so we went for it. The hotel is an elegant, older but updated property right on Front Street and across the street from the train station where you can pick up the Metro. It's also conveniently located down a few blocks from the Convention Center. We enjoyed excellent service from staff who hustled and bent over backwards to do things for you. For instance, we ate breakfast in the restaurant ($$$$) where the chef went so far to accommodate my son's food allergies that he personally delivered the food to our table after the waiter had informed him about the allergies. Also, the waiters will look at what you're bringing back from the buffet and ask you if you need a certain condiment to go along with your food. Finially, when I was checking out I challenged an honor bar charge on my bill, and the charge was dismissed without question. They also have a nice excercise room and small but immaculate indoor pool with views of downtown Toronto. We will be going back.
“Great place to stay”
Very nice hotel rooms, wide screen tv. Very nice bathrooms. Only issue is sometimes you could hear the pipes of the water if someone was taking a shower in another room. Hotel staff responds to anything you need. Concierge service was helpful in setting up trips and getting around Toronto. If you like sports, great location. Two blocks to the left was the Hockey Hall of Fame and 4 blocks to the right was the Rogers Centre for the Blue Jays. If you go in the winter, the Air Canada Center is a block or two up from the park if you go to see basketball or hockey. The hotel is over an underground mall, many floors to it and it is connected underground to the railway and subway station which is across the street. 3 rental car agencies are also across the street. I would very much recommend staying there.
