“A lovely hotel, in the Grand Tradition”
I only have two complaints: - their stinginess with linens and towels - they could update the electronics
“Great experience”
My daughters and I spent a night at the Le Meridien King Edward and walked from the hotel to the Royal Alex to see Dirty Dancing. It was a wonderful evening and the hotel was over the top amazing ... It would be hard to top our room and service. Simply perfect! An experience we will never forget.
“What a wonderful stay”
This is one of the classiest hotels that I've stayed at when in Toronto. Ir is very old world with excellent service.
“Fabulous”
This hotel was wonderful, big spacious rooms, excellent service, great location, lots of good restaurants and bars close by.
“A nice surprise”
I arrived at the hotel a little later than anticipated and was told my Executive room wasn't available and as a result they'd be upgrading me free of charge to a suite. I figured it would be small. It was very LARGE and it was a wonderful treat. Upgraded room or not, the service, food and comfort at Royal Meridien King Edward are wonderful. The door staff are very courteous and accommodating and the location can't be beat for downtown meetings.
“A timeless, elegant hotel in the heart of downtown Toronto”
This is an older, grand hotel with a huge, luxurious lobby and well maintained rooms, hallways and facilities. Decor is in the old style suitable to the age and style of the hotel. My room was a bed sitting room, for regular price -- very nice. 10 minutes walk to the theatre district, restaurants and shopping right nearby. Well situated.
“Definitely will stay there again”
The hotel is very well located. A stone throw away from the subway station, and only a block away from Yonge Street. The hotel has a grand feel to it, not uncompatible to the Royal York, but smaller, newer and brighter. Staff at the front desk is very pleasant and friendly, even very late at night. There is no free Wifi in the room, but I don't mind as this is not my priority. Free Wifi is in the lobby. However, one unexpected disappointment is that the house-keeping staff forgot to put to put a set of bath towel in the bathroom, and I didn't realize it (who would have checked for something so basic ?) until I needed to take a shower late and tired at night. But, the staff were very friendly and helpful and towels were sent up right away. I am giving a 4 star only for the comfort of the room because the room I was given, the flat screen TV was in a cabinet. There is a one-seat sofa chair by the wall on the side of the room. When I open the TV cabinet door, I was not able to see the TV from that sofa because the cabinet door was blocking the veiw of the TV and it doesn't open all the way back. So, if I want to watch TV, I could only sit on the bed, which I may not necessarily want to do that every time.
“Very classy hotel, short walk from everything”
We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at the King Edward. The staff was very friendly. The room was very nice; just a little on the small side for what we paid per night, but certainly not cramped. The bathroom was big, clean, and comfortable. Our one complaint would be that the concierge recommended a restaurant that, in our opinion, no rational person would ever eat at voluntarily (Bombay Palace on Jarvis St). Aside from that one blip, the hotel was great and I'd highly recommend it.
“Back to the 19th Century”
When I arrived to check in and found myself watching the break-up of a black-tie dinner (men in top hats, women in bona fide evening gowns), I realized that I had not just changed spatial coordinates, but also migrated back in time. One hasn't seen a degree of fastidiousness, or a standard of manners from the staff like this in a hotel, I presume, for generations. The place is so nice, in fact, that I felt a bit dumpy walking around in blue jeans. Feeling inadequate, I could hide in my room, which was large, sunny during the day, and which featured a cozy king-size bed. Feeling emboldened, I could relax in the hotel bar (The Consort) and enjoy an aperitif or a snack in regal surroundings. Feeling footloose, I could easily make my way to the Harbourfront, the University area, the theatre district, or any of the other major neighborhoods (the subway is also a mere block away). Highly recommended.
