“Needs upgrading”
I was surprised to find an Intercontinental at this price but thought I'd give it a try. While the overall appearance of the hotel is good, the rooms definitely need an upgrade. They look generally a little worn - bathroom tiles slightly cracked, no flat-screen TV. It's just a little tired for an Intercontinental. However, it was clean enough and the location was good for me, so no complaints. My only problem was on the day I checked out - I called down for the valet to bring my car down and was told 10 minutes, went downstairs and 15 minutes later the car had not arrived. When I asked the concierge he said they had not received the request from the operator - I had to wait another 10 minutes and was then late for an appointment.
“Love the area , like the hotel”
I stayed at this hotel 2 years ago...needs some renos for sure. I had a burned out light in the bathroom which I called to change and maintenance never showed..Not a big inconvenience but shows some nonchalance on hotel's end.
“Great hotel, but double-check the location”
This is a fine hotel, but we were taken by surprise by its location at some distance from downtown Toronto because we did not double check. Our mistake, but don't you make it too.
“Fantastic TIFF home base!!”
From the moment I walked into the Intercontinental Yorkville, I was treated with the utmost care and attention. From the welcome snack plate, to chocolates on the pillow, to valets who treated my Kia like it was a Bentley, everything exceded my expectations. The linens were crisp and white, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was very spacious and clean. A bulb was out in the lamp by my bed, so I left a note for housekeeping and it was changed promptly. Other than that I had no issues with my room. We ate in the hotel restaurant quite a bit and found it delicious. It was a great home base for getting to my TIFF films, and having the shops and restaurants of Yorkville right there was an added bonus. My 2 seventeen year old girls stayed with me in the evenings, and were dazzled by the star power in the hotel. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.....can't wait until TIFF 2012!
“Good hotel for the price and location”
Nothing about this hotel stands out as any better than the rest but it was good enough. Only disappointment is that hotels (this one included) keep nickle and diming for WiFi... it's not a huge expense to offer simple WiFi so it's always frustrating when it's not included. That's really my only complaint. Otherwise, the hotel is located in a great spot to be able to explore a chic part of Toronto.
“Toronto Intercontinental Summer 2011 with only Juliana & Adam”
Breakfast is expensive, below-freezing temperatures (even in summer) with no buffet, baby beds weren't in room when we arrived (after 9pm) and "we got lucky" according to the hotel staff. No internet cafe or free wireless. Had to ask multiple times for enough towels for everyone in the room. Central and upscale, but a bit run down.
“would love to use this hotel again”
This was a great hotel, within my price range from Expedia, very central to for shopping eatng and subway, hope I can go again.
“Elegant Hotel”
We enjoyed our recent stay at the Intercontinental in Toronto on Bloor St. The hotel rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the surroundings very elegant. We would certainly recommend this hotel.
“Sophisticated boutique hotel”
A sphisticated boutique hotel. Fashionable decorating, friendly staff, terrific breakfast, wonderful location.
“Great location & Service - Clean with good staff”
We stayed on a long holiday Victoria Day week-end. The location is great, closed to luxury shops and restaurants. The only complaint is that the Wi-Fi is not complementary ($4 for 30mins). Valet is $35 per day, plus all the tips from in&out and you have to wait at least 10mins to get your car, so plan accordingly. The hotel bar has a nice garden and good drinks selection. The restaurant is a four diamond, we did go but there is an all day great breakfast place next door (Over-Easy) and Starbucks is a block away. All staff was helpful and friendly. The beds were so comfortable. Luckily, we always bring earplugs so the noise from our window facing the courtyard and outside bar did not prevent us from sleeping. The elevators were a bit problematic; they didn't open unless you push them open to enter them. It was never a problem when exiting. Would recommend it, would stay there again. Been to intercontinental hotels all over the world, obviously the new ones are nicer but for an old one it was fine. This is a good choice if you are looking for an average nice brand hotel, safe; clean, with no bedbugs and with great location.
