“Not great but OK”
The hotel was OK as a place to sleep and for amenities around the hotel. Cleanliness in the room wasn't great, such as rubbish in the air conditioner unit and the unit being very voisy when runnning. Service from the staff was OK, a couple of times they forgot to put trowels in the room so had to ring down and go and get them. Although there is on site parking at the front, there are only a few spaces although we managed to get one every time. It is on a main road so it is also quite good to get to places by car or drive to the Bramalea GO station to get the GO train into Toronto Union.
“Adequate but could be better”
The stairwells inside and out seemed in need of update. The door to the inside stairwell seemed to be locked from the breakfast area. The tables there need to be wiped off several times an hour in the morning to provide a cleaner environment.
“Feedback”
Room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Hotel had very small fitness room and no pool. Continental breakfast was average. I came late the first day and most of the food was gone. Price was reasonable.
“Not on the West side of Toronto”
The name of the hotel is Howard Johnson Toronto West. This couldn't be farther from the truth. It is 40 min from Toronto, so if you are looking for a hotel in Toronto like we were this is not the hotel for you!!! It is located in Brampton.
“Bad part of town?”
Whe I visited this hotel it was very hard to get in and out of the parking lot due to road construction in front of it. I didn't find the bed very comfortable. I went out for the evening and returned to a whole squad of police cars. A couple cops had some suspicious looking characters rounded up in the back parking lot talking with them and in the front another policeman was handling some tenants of the hotel. As I walked through the lobby I over heard the desk clerk on the phone telling someone they had 2 minutes to get out of the room before she sent the police up to get them. I made sure to use all the locks on the door that night. Also the toilet broke and would not flush that night or the next morning. Hotel was not 'dirty' per say, but had things like red stains on the lamp shades and holes in the wall where the bathroom door had been opened too hard. The hotel was not located close to many ammenities, unless you needed a payday loan. Overall I think the hotel is located in a less than desireable part of town, and I'm dissapointed at the room I got vs. the rate.
“Middle of the road”
Good customer service at the front deak. Everything is clean enough. Nothing fancy. Nothing to complain about for the price.
“Average stay”
While the room was comfortable and roomy for the price, the following "negatives" were experienced during my stay: 1. Poor shower water pressure; 2. Poor reception or connection to their wireless internet; 3. Very plain, boring continental breakfast--nothing hot, not even waffles, limited sweet roll selections.
“get what you pay for”
quaint and adequate not pretentious it is what it is Howard Johnson
“Cheapest in the area and now I know why”
When we first got in the hotel and tried to check in the lady at the desk was a trainee which isn't a problem at all, however the other lady training her was kind of rude with her which made us uncofortable. The first room we got in was a mess, no light bulbs in any of the lamps, toilet was broke, air conditioner did not work, and the room just stunk. For their defense, they did move us to a different room in a differet floor, it wasn't much greater but thing worked in the new room. overall okay for the money, but no great at all.
“Friendly but lacking”
The staff were very friendly but did not seem in a rush to actually fix much. The room was missing stopper plugs for both the sink and the tub. After four requests we still did not receive stoppers for either. The wireless internet connection never worked in the room as promised and was hit or miss in the lobby. When asked, the staff were not sure what to do about the problem. the drink machine in the lobby, according to an employee, only works one out of four times. They were quick to solve the problem when the machine swallowed my money and gave me a free drink for my wait. The room was old and showing its age BUT was very clean. The stairwells, which we used as the elevator was very shakey, were dark, dirty and stunk.
