“Clean and funky room ...”
Love the shower in this hotel! Very funky and clean hotel. My husband and I enjoyed our stay, we went to the ACC and it is a quick cab ride and enjoyed free valet parking which made our stay much easier. This hotel is right down the street from Second City, so anyone out of town going there - this is the PERFECT location.
“very nice stay”
The service at the hotel was excellent. The coffee/espresso/tea/hot chocolate machine in the lounge/library was nice and I took advantage of it. There was not a coffee maker in the room if you are used to this. My room was a bit small and only had a shower and not a tub. The shower was wonderful- a rain shower. Aveda bath products were provided, which are always good. The bed was very comfortable. The room was quiet at night when I kept the windows shut. Room service was really good, had salad and roasted chicken when I arrived late the first night. I was attending a convention, and the convention center was only 2 blocks away. Queen's west was a few blocks away with hip restaurants/shopping. I was able to walk to eaton center as well- about 15-20min. This is a boutique hotel with luxurious touches. I was expecting a continental breakfast included in my room price, and this was not the case. I sat down and was eating when they informed me it was not covered, which was a disappointment and I believe surprises regarding the room rate are not a good impression to give, regardless of how nice the stay is. I also expected a bathtub and a plasma TV and while the TV was fine- based on the advertised features, I expected these things and was disappointed that the rate I paid did not include them. Overall, my stay was very nice and I would recommend this to others and would stay here again- especially if you have to attend a convention- just know what you are and are not paying for.
“Boutique hotel with noisy neighbors”
Recently stayed here for 3 nights; clean modern look, the library off main level is a nice place to sit and read, smaller more intimate feel to the place. Service was excellent, breakfast is great they will make you cappuccino and bring to your table; some hot foods as well as fruit, cereals, breads, muffins. Room was a bit dark although spacious, I was on the south facing side in late May so no direct sunlight, and lights are not that bright. Only complaint: there are 2 rooftop bars on Mercer st, one is busy for dinnertime and the other is more of a nightclub so from around 3PM to 2AM there is raucous noise outside. I had good earplugs so was able to sleep, hotel will provide you some if you forget yours. I think in colder weather they would not be an issue. Overall was pleased with my stay.
“Great hotel in entertainment district of Toronto”
great hotel all lived up to expectations except that the restaurant was under construction. Also some noise in the hotel due to the construction.
“French Twist!”
I liked the hotel, pretty good service overall and the concierge very useful in getting to know places in Toronto - theater, restaurants, speciality shopping... However, I noted two changes from my previous stay two years earlier: 1) Victor's Restaurant in the hotel seems to have slipped (service and food) and the noise from the night clubs across Mercer Street was over the top. All in all I like the place and would go again.
“Le Germain a gem!”
Really enjoyed our stay at the Le Germain. It's a beautiful hotel, packed with style and elegance. For it's location, and great Expedia discount, I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Toronto. I would caution that the hotel is on somewhat of a side street. It may not feel safe walking there late night. (The free hot chocolate in the lobby on a cold fall day helps too!) The room was exactly as expected - roomy, spacious, and well maintained. LOVED the 50inch TV; only wished the channels were HD! I look forward to another stay.
“nice getaway!”
Nice streamlined and comfortable shiek envoirment. Will be back.
“Not worth the price”
This hotel was a converted office or apartment building and definitely not worth the price. The room was a good size and well decorated. The gym was small and very limited.
“Pretty decent...”
Hotel looks good - very modern and attractive... Staff were mostly from out of town - so not too on top of things such as great spots to eat, or where the closest gas station is etc... Very noisy on weekends due to the clubs across the street... Not much a hub of action, but overall a decent boutique hotel... Watch the pricing on the mini-bar supplies - over the top expensive... Good location for food, shows and shops and Skydome...
“Great hotel but...”
This is a great hotel but based on the expensive price it is to stay here, I was a bit put off by the added $40/night they ding you for parking. This was such an outrageous fee (given what we already paid), that I would consider staying somewhere else the next time.
