“Convenience and Economy”
This is a modest, very well priced hotel in an old landmark building in North Toronto. It was within easy walking distance of hundreds of restaurants and shops on Yonge Street, with access to the subway system. Parking was free, which was a bonus. We would definitely stay again.
“Old Fashioned Comfort”
This older hotel was pleasant, has parking, and met our needs. We had traveled for the Toronto Marathon and needed a comfortable place to stay where we could prepare our own breakfast early in the morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was basic, but fine. One caution; if you are traveling for the Marathon, although it is conveniently located on Yonge Street, half of the street is blocked for most of the day and all thoroughfares around it are crowded so it is hard to get around by car.
“Good value, especially for those who spaciousness”
The rooms were large and very comfortable. It was great to have a full kitchen, although the coffee machine did not work. Nice art deco touches in design. The front desk staff was terrific and helpful. Two things to note: there is no iron available, which is odd for a long-term stay hotel, and the rooms that border on Yonge Street can be noisy. Otherwise it was a terrific experience and a good bargain.
“nous y retournerons si autre séjour à toronto , en passant par expédia car tarifs avantageux”
trés pratique car une petite cuisine trés appréciable pour prendre les petits déjeuners ou dîners et une chambre séparée.
“Good value, central enough”
This hotel definitely got an unjustifiably bad rap from other reviewers. It's a converted apartment building. Close to Lawrence subway and right beside a nice large park where you can run without seeing a car. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's not an 'all convenience hotel" (i.e. no restaurant), but each room as full living room and big kitchen in addition to bedroom. Very good value for the price.
“A Good Deal & Spacious”
Great hotel if you're only staying for 1 or 2 nights. The place is decently clean and very spacious. We felt safe and enjoyed our stay. If you're used to 5 star hotels, this is not the place for you. However, if you're looking for a good deal and you do not require a jacuzzi tub, this place is great! It is located 5mins (walking distance) from the nearest TTC Subway stop (Lawrence), so the location is perfect and the price is very reasonable for Toronto.
“Nice place for the money”
This is a remodeled older building. The kitchen is a plus if you like to prepare your meals. There is no air conditioner in the room, you need to open your window... weather was cold during my stay and I had no need for AC. Electric outlets are scarse... non in bathroom, no hairdryer or iron provided in room. Room cleaning service for additional charge. Free parking is a plus if you have a car. Downtown is about 5 mile away. Public tansportation nearby.
“Cheap, but you get what you pay for”
Old apartment building, noise insulation is poor. If your neighbours decide to get noisy at 3 a.m. (& ours did one night) good luck sleeping. No air conditioning. On a medium noisy street. Our room had a permanently seriously leaking bathroom sink (virtually unusable). On the positive side, it is very inexpensive relative to other Toronto alternatives. It is on Yonge street, so close to Toronto's excellent subway system. The kitchen is large and fully equipped with full size fridge, real range & oven and microwave. The real beds were comfortable, but the pull out sofa was old and painful (you know the type: the metal bars under the mattress poking into your ribs).
“A DUMP!”
Hotel says they have newly renovated suites but they are FAR from "newly renovated". The electrical wiring is SCARY, the rooms are in desperate need of painting, there was a huge water stain on the ceiling in my bedroom and the bathtub had large chunks of a substance like paint (bigger than my outstretched hand) peeling off the tub so there would be NO chance you could have a bath also add to that the fact that the mold growth in the bathtub area was sickening and the overall cleanliness was deplorable. I booked the largest room they offered and when I arrived they tried to shove me in one of their studio rooms! I was then moved to another room but it was a SMOKING room and I specifically requested a NON-SMOKING room, so they had to move me a third time (and I might add THEY did not move me, I moved me!!). You can hear EVERYTHING (i.e., toilets flushing, showers running and people chatting in the hallways) when you are in your room and about every four minutes you can HEAR and FEEL the rumble of the subway train that runs beneath the building. It is loud enough to sound like the rumble of thunder and the trains run 19 hours a day!! Internet is not free and neither is parking. The photos they have posted on their site and on Expedia are NOT representative of the rooms (trust me, I saw THREE during my stay). Also there is NO daily room service so you have the same towels and bed for five days - sheesh! The bed was comfortable and that's about it.
“Never Again”
Even if this hotel were the only one left in Toronto, I wouldn't stay here. The 'suite' was much smaller than most hotel rooms, with no heat from the radiators until 4 am - lucky there was a stove that I used to keep warm until then. Bathroom so small, I bashed my knee against the TP dispenser every time. Did I mention the barking dog?
