“Great Hotel, Convenient Location!”
As with all hotels in Japan, the service is terrific and the rooms are immaculate. By Japanese standards, the rooms and the bathrooms were huge. This hotel is conveniently located about a 10 minute walk to the Shinigawa train station which is a hub for getting almost anywhere in Tokyo and anywhere else in Japan. Another treat is the beautiful garden and walking paths that are part of the hotel grounds...a welcome respite in a busy and highly developed city.
“Great Hotel!”
We booked this hotel through expedia and got a great deal on a standard garden view room for two people. When we checked in, they told us that the room we booked was all occupied and we were upgraded to the Royal suite room! This was on the top floor of the hotel and had a fantastic view of toyko tower! The room was so big with a king size mattress. The hotel is close to the Shinagawa station and you can walk through the Japanese Garden to get to the hotel, which is so relaxing! There is also a business room with FREE internet access! Highly recommend this hotel!
“Very impressive”
Located near to one of the busiest JR East train hubs, Shinagawa, the service and quality of the hotel is hard to match. They give each guest the royal treatment!
“great hotel deal in Tokyo”
I was surprised to find this hotel was one of the least expensive listed on Expedia. This is an older hotel but very well maintained with beautiful gardens. Central location near Shinagawa station.
“Very well situated close to major train station”
Great venue for weddings and touring
“Comfortable and convenient.”
This is a wonderful hotel. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful, and were able to speak English with us (as our Japanese is only conversational). The rooms were comfortable and clean. There is only cable internet in the rooms, but we were satisfied to simply go sit in the pleasant lobby to use the WiFi. Also, this hotel is right across the street from Shinagawa Station, a major point on the JR loop throughout all of Tokyo and a departure point for Shinkansen trains across the country, making it's location extremely convenient. There are also many restaurants, convenience stores, and shopping locations on either side of the station, directly around the hotel.
“Best bargain for a four star hotel”
We stayed at this hotel and the Shinagawa area for the first time and were very pleased. The hotel was more than we expected given some of the previous reviews. The service was very professional, the hotel was well maintained and it had a very "upscale" feeling without feeling snobby. Our room was fine and was what we asked for, very neat and clean. The most amazing thing about the hotel was the garden that is shared by the surrounding hotels, it was a huge green space with a large koi pond. We cut through the other Prince Hotels and found them to be very nice as well, some larger and a little more modern than the Grand Takanawa. Nonetheless, we would rather stay at the Grand as it is a little more quiet. There are plenty of amenities around the hotel and the walk to the station is really not that bad. We took the hotel shuttle a few times and after that we just walked the short distance. The Shinagawa station is very convenient and it is easy to get around from this location. The price we paid for this hotel could not be beat and we would definitely stay here again. My only gripe would be the high cost of the lounge and restaurants at this hotel, way too expensive.
“Great.”
I had friends staying at the Prince Hotel Shinagawa - there rooms were of similar quality, but my hotel was much quieter, and was less that 5 minutes walk. Beautiful garden out back too!
