“Not that bad”
We went for self-catering for a week, the package for half-board and inclusive is quite pricey when the you can get good variations of restaurants offering good value of food and bars around - we went to the bar in the hotel (disco bar ?) once and the drink was the most expensive one we ever spent on the island. On the plus side, the location and price for the self-catering apartment is fairly good, we went out everyday either to Los Gigantes (most beautiful place in Tenerife I reckon and can go by foot in good half an hour with bit of short cut ! ), a bus ride to Las Americas or to Play de la Areana . The apartment was kept clean generally although we did see ants and occasional cockroches showed up once or twice... However the overall experience was good and the reception was very helpful !
“Good s/c hotel”
Quite a decent place for the price. Reception staff aren't excellent, but considering they're always pretty busy, its not surprising. Room was well eauipped, clean and tidy, and there a bus from Playa d.l. Americas every half hour, with a connection there to TFS airport.
“Best Room in the Hotel”
Arrived at the Hotel around 21.30hrs on Sunday night. Could not find a car parking space within 500 yards of Hotel. If you have hire car make sure you are back around 1730hrs to be able to park outside Hotel. A new multi storey car park is being built near the hotel but this will cost while street parking does not. Appartment 500 (Atico) is on the roof with views down onto the swimming pool but also sea views, will only take two people.Overall staff and food excellant. Appartment was a bit sad but clean.
“Tamaimo Tropical Apartments in Tenerife - yet another great stay!!”
I have been to Tenerife seven times over the last twelve years and have always stayed at Tamaimo Tropical Apartments on a self catering basis. The first time we visited, the new side of the complex hadn't been built so I have seen changes over the years. The gardens and pool area are very pretty and are always kept neat and tidy. The reception staff are always helpful. The location is near to Los Gigantis and the views are lovely, it is also ideally located near to the mountain road which goes to Teide National park which I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys breathtaking views. The only downside to my week here was the sky was a bit cloudy but the temperature was 26 degrees on the sunny days, not bad for November. I would definately recommend Tamaimo Tropical to my friends and look forward to my next visit.
“a holiday with a difference”
overall we had a lovely holiday, the staff were friendly and efficient. However there was a problem with the acommodation. Two rooms were booked in Jan 06, on arrival only one room acommodation was available, so the girls had to sleep on the pull out beds, not very good for a 14 and 15 year old. To compensate though the hotel gave the whole family fully inclusive status for the whole holiday. There were a few more hiccups but all were overcome quickly and efficiently. I would go to this hotel again. It is in a lovely location, a little hilly, so its not very good for the less able, but the scenery and walks around the area are stunning.
“Not for the faint hearted”
We thought it was going to be lovely when we saw the reception area which was very smart. Our apartment was a different story. Firstly, our room, which was on the ground floor, looked straight on to two pool tables which were surrounded by both huge gangs of kids, and boozing adults from early in the morning until 9pm (supposedly) when the tables closed. There was no way we could sit on the balcony! It was like being on stage! To top it off, outside our room was an actual shooting gallery. Yes, with people shooting air rifles and everything. And to think WE were told to keep the noise down! If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing break, this place is not for you. It's as noisy as a playground in the daytime but any kind of noise is not tolerated after 11pm. Unless its the security men sitting on the pool tables talking that is. The apartment itself, although clean, was very old and scruffy. It also had quite a large cockroach population. There was no oven although we were self catering - luckily there was no shortage of restaurants near by. The maids were cheerful, and supplied us with clean towels everyday. The pool area was great. It was clean and well staffed and is the only reason I would recommend this place to anyone else. Los Gigantes is a lovely place to visit - the beach is great and there are loads of shops and restaurants. I would love to return to the area but I'd probably look for alternative accomodation.
“Great holiday”
We had a great holiday enjoying excellents meals out, particualrly at El Rincon de Juan Carlos in Los Gigantes, an enjoyable 15 - 20 minutes walk away. The hotel was acceptable although the neccessary equipment for a self catering holiday wasn't there. Well we couldn't work out how to cook a meal on two hotplates, an oven that was falling out of the unit and no knives or frying pan. On a more positive note we made good use of our terrace and enjoyed the view out accross the pool area. A must do is to walk round to the promenade area and watch the sun go down over La Gomera.
