“Nice Place”
We have stayed at several hotels in Taos. All were nice. This hotel is the nicest so far. Very clean and cozy. We had a fireplace in our room where we burned logs provided by the front desk. Made our stay very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. The hot tub and pool are indoor, which was great, because the average temperature during our stay was around 28 degrees. The lounge was nice with $2.00 drafts during happy hour from 5-7pm. The hot breakfast was exceptional. Not just cold cereal or fruit that you find at most hotels, but a nice cooked breakfast. The price was very affordable and we would recommend this hotel to anyone. We will certainly stay here again.
“Nice, quiet & clean hotel”
Nice, clean, spacious room. Only negative is bathroom stays very cold but shower is hot. We will stay again. Close to everything. Great value for the money spent.
“Great Place to Stay”
The hotel more than surpassed any expectations I had. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was courteous, polite and very helpful. The complimentary breakfast was very good...much more than the standard apple, yogurt cup, and bagel found at most comp breakfasts. On the morning I was to leave, when I returned to my room after breakfast, I found that the dead bolt had swung into place when I had closed my door. I walked back to the front desk and reported it. When I got back to my room the maintenace man was already working on it. I was back in my room in a minute. My entire stay was a pleasure and I would highly recommend the Don Fernando to anyone.
“Two minor details for reasonably priced hotel.”
The heater in our room had the setting, "high" and "low"; the dial - warm to hot, did not work correctly but had only one temperature. At least we had heat. We just couldn't control it. The first night our kids went to the pool, the pool water was warm and the pool room temperature was perfect. The next night we went, the pool water was way cooler and the temperature in the room was significantly cooler also. Not sure what was going on. I'm sure it's fixed by now.
“Ski Taos”
The hotel itself was ok but it was most definetly outdated and not maintained very well. We were lucky to be visiting when the weather was nice because the crack between our door and the frame would have made us freeze. The breakfast was interesting because the food in the buffet was always running out and there was no silverware available because they had run out. The staff was really friendly and our stay was pleasant. If your looking for a five star hotel look somewhere else but if you want an affordable rate with an less than average facility this is a safe bet.
“Nice and simple”
Nice hotel would recommend. The security guard was a bit too strict. I was asked on three different occasions if I was a guest at the hotel. A little annoying but I guess he was just doing his job.
“Good deal for a last minute trip”
We booked this hotel for a last minute trip so we had a good deal. The room is spacious and the king bed comfortable. Everything is clean and quiet. The hotel is located 5 minutes from Taos historic center, and is close to shops/restaurants.
“A good bargain”
Don Fernando is a great place to stay on a budget. The people were friendly, the lobby, bar area, restaurant and pool were much nicer than expected. The bartenders made surprizingly great mojitos! The rooms were what you would expect for the price, but the grounds are very well kept. We enjoyed our time here and would stay there again. Only thing that would make it nicer would be if it were within walking distance of the Taos plaza.
“I will return”
Hotel employees were polite and helpful. Rooms are kept clean. Resturant was nice and reasonably priced. I placed reservations through expedia and check in was fast and hassle free.
“Nice Hotel”
Nice place to stay, but the restaurant left something to be desired. After waiting 45 minutes for the food, we left. Many other options in th area and the hotel is nice
