This place is perfect!
We loved our stay at the Blue Elk Casa! There were 7 of us in our group, we rented the upstairs and downstairs units. Plenty of room but super cozy. It's right in town so we were able to walk everywhere. Kitchen is fully stocked, beds are comfortable, hot tub was amazing after a snowfall. Communication with property manager was easy and helpful. Can't say enough good things about this place! Highly recommend!

Our Favorite Taos Home
This is our second time to stay in the Blue Elk Casa and again we are incredibly happy with our experience. 1. The location is superb, 2. The double unit is perfect for traveling with family as you can have your own spaces, and 3. The hosts are very communicative, helpful, kind, and go above and beyond to accommodate your needs.

The property was well maintained. The only reason I wouldn't give a five star review is because of the following issues: 1. The key was difficult to use. It was badly cut. 2. They didn't have enough wine glasses. Some glasses were plastic. 3. My bed needs new mattresses. I didn't hear similar comments from the others, so it was probably just my bed.. 4. The parking lot wasn't perfect. We had to park on the street, which wasn't always available. They had extra parking at a church which wasn't very convenient. However, I consider these problems to be minor. We had a lovely time there.

Terrific property with a few fixable problems
We rented both the upstairs and downstairs of Blue Elk Casa, and in general found the property to be great for our family Thanksgiving vacation. There were a few issues: 1. the downstairs TV could not connect to the house wi-if, so we were limited to the upstairs one. The tech is pretty out of date. 2. My son and his partner found the sheets in their downstairs bedroom either had not been cleaned or were not cleaned very well. 3. The charm of New Mexico fireplaces was not available to us. The downstairs one worked for a day, the upstairs one never did. To be fair, the property manager did get someone in to try to fix the upstairs fireplace, but when he left neither upstairs or downstairs worked. Also in fairness, though, this happened the day before Thanksgiving…. Other than these fixable issues, be advised that the only full kitchen is in the downstairs unit, and it is really too small for a party of 8!

Walking Distance to Downtown Taos
Chose this property as it was very close to downtown Taos Plaza with shops and restaurants. Closest highly rated Mexican restaurant was just around the corner of our street! We missed the detail that this is actually a duplex with separate entrances, so our group split between the two at night and met in the lower unit during the daily gathering. That all worked out fine. Unit had a couple minor problems with a gas fireplace malfunction and a persistent dripping kitchen faucet. There was also notable ceiling mold in the upstairs unit bathroom (no ventilation to remove moisture). The property manager was communicative and attended to these quickly and said they will have an exhaust fan installed to mitigate the mold. Otherwise, all in all, an very enjoyable stay

This home was very comfortable, clean. nicely decorated, and in a perfect location close to plaza but in a quiet neighborhood. It made my first trip to Taos quite enjoyable, and I would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Taos Plaza Vacation Rental
We had a wonderful time at the Blue Elk Casa! Our group consisted of five adults, four kids, one baby, and one small dog, and the multi-level units made it easy to be together while still allowing space for everyone. As a multi-generational group, we very much appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, accessible extra towels and bedding, and closeness to the Plaza. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to book again for our next Taos getaway!

Fun Taos Visit
Our family rented the upstairs and downstairs property which worked very well for us. We loved the location. We were able to walk to shopping, restaurants, and music. The host was very friendly and helpful while we were there. The property has all of the uniqueness of Taos architecture and ambiance which we very much enjoyed.

Wonderful, perfect stay
We loved every single thing about this property, from the location, to the little outdoor patio, to the hot tub, to the beautifully decorated interior. Two sweet casitas with everything. You could need and all kinds of extra amenities, like soft blankets and great art. The property manager was repsonaive and kind.

Great location!
Great location just a block from the plaza and a quick 30 min drive to Taos Ski Valley. They had everything we needed. One room ran a bit cold but there was a portable heater so that solved that issue. Beds could be a bit comfier, but I feel like every rental’s beds aren’t the best. Only other heads up is the book units key is particular, so you have to get to know it’s temperament. 😆 We had a great stay! The jacuzzi was clean and hot for us. We’d stay here again!

Perfect location
We had come here for the Wine Festival and the location was perfectly positioned close to shops and restaurants!! Lots of good food and shopping. We want to come back in the summer and enjoy all the outdoor activities 🤩

Excellent Location - Outstanding Property
This place is clearly managed very well, and well stocked with those things you often have to run out and get (paper towels, kleenex etc). Spotlessly clean, and of course, the art and architecture are spectacular. You can't ask for a better location to the Plaza, yet its enough off the beaten path to be nicely quiet at night. Just a few minutes, and you have dozens of lovely dining and shopping options. Would highly recommend and would book again. Thank you for hosting us!

Perfect and convenient location
The blue elk casa is well maintained and furnished with all necessities. The caretaker, Linda Knief , was always just a phone call away. All instructions were clearly posted. Hot tub was an amenity that we enjoyed.

Disappointed in the misleading listing on VRBO.. it shows as a 4 br unit... and it is clearly 2 separate 2 br units.. the listing text cleverly implies this... but it is misleading. Every thing else was great!

At the time of your reservation the description indicated "This unique Up and Down separation is ideal for members needing quiet get-away time and space from the hustle and bustle of group activity." We have just added.... "Please note these units do not have an interior flight of stairs connecting one to the other. We could not be more pleased with our stay at Blue Elk Casa. A family reunion to celebrate a special birthday was made excellent by a beautiful spacious home within 2 blocks of Taos plaza. The caretaker was helpful and delightful to contact. The facilities were immaculate and easy to use. We are delighted with our week's stay.

Amazing place! Excellent location!
We stayed here with our niece and her family and it was a great house for the 2 families in an awesome location. My family stayed in Blue Elk Casa down and the rest of the family stayed in Blue Elk Casa up. The downstairs casa was the nicest and largest but the upstairs was adequate though they said it did get pretty warm as it caught both the morning and afternoon sun. The plaza and most of the quaint shops were within walking distance yet it was a very quiet neighborhood. The courtyard was beautifully manicured with roses the size of saucers. Bill does an excellent job of keeping it looking great outside and Linda outdoes herself on maintaining the inside. The beds were comfortable, the downstairs was plenty large enough for everyone to gather in, and the basement where the washer and dryer were located was lots of steps down but very large as well. We would definitely look into Blue Elk Casa if heading to Taos again.

Great place to stay with friends or family.
This was a very comfortable and convenient place to stay in Taos. Located near the historic Taos Plaza. Walking distance from lots of good restaurants and shopping. Great Farmers’ Market on Saturday (just out of COVID hibernation). The VRBO offers 4 separate bedrooms and 3 full baths, plus multiple nice common areas. Both units are well stocked and nicely decorated. Parking is very convenient and free. We are already planning to return. Need I say more?

Experience was great, our group was in town for a ski trip. Not everyone was skiing so location in the middle of town was important. Hot tub was amazing and the group had space and comfortably throughout the house. Linda and her staff were also 5 star. Thank you!

Everything about this property was wonderful. A couple of friends and I went on a quick trip to Taos and couldn’t be happier to have found this location. It’s a five minute walk to the plaza, the two separate spaces provide privacy, and the outdoor space for each unit is wonderful. The caretaker was also lovely and very fast to reply. I’m already planning on staying here again!

Delightful few days in Taos
We enjoyed many aspects of Taos and the region. The close access to the plaza is a special bonus. And there are scores of hikes nearby. We tried a few during our four-day stay.
