"Exceptional service"
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Villa Ducale in April. A perfect time to go to Sicily. The weather was lovely. Right from the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. Without exception, every member of staff, whatever their job, made us feel welcome. We arrived on our first evening after the kitchen was closed, but we were prepared a delicious pasta supper with some wine. It's this sort of service that makes all the difference. The hotel is not in the centre of town, but the hotel runs regular shuttles for easy access. The views from our room (32) were amazing. It really is worth being slightly outside of the centre town to experience this hotel. We enjoyed the walk into town too down the side of the hill which also had superb views in the Sicilian sun. We walked up on three occasions which made us feel better about enjoying the food.

"Great staff, great room, great location!"
My girlfriend and I stayed a week at this hotel and we don't have a bad word to say about it! We were greeted by Svetlana at reception, who was just fantastic and very friendly. We had a standard room with a sea view and it was a great view when we got to our room. The hotel is a short walk from the main strip of restaurants and bars and if you want to go to the beach it's a short bus ride from Taormina bus station (10 min walk from the hotel [downhill]). Or the hotel has a deal with Paradise beach club and for 20 euros a person you get picked up and taken to the private beach. There's table service for drinks, and they also have a pool away from the beach. Great staff and service again. We loved Taormina as there's a lot to do. You have the ancient Greek theatre a short walk away and we managed to take in an opera too. Get yourself to Sicily and make sure you stay at this hotel!

"Excellent hotel, perfect location"
We stayed for one week at the Grand Hotel Timeo. The hotel and grounds were immaculately kept and we found the staff excellent and informative. The breakfast and restaurant food was of a very high standard. We booked a double room located in Villa Flora, adjacent to the hotel. The view was described as a garden or village view. Disappointingly as our room was at the rear of the building, our view was a sheer rock face, a few feet from the patio door. Sadly we were told the hotel was fully booked so there was no opportunity to change.

"Great hotel for couples, nice romantic retreat."
El Jebel is conveniently settled off a bustling walkway through Taormina, with great access to restaurants and boutique style shops. It is a small hotel, well styled and the staff can't do enough for you. The rooftop terrace is great for a meal and some drinks, but not the cheapest. My only issue was that our room had an ajoining door to connect to another room, which meant we could hear *everything* in the next room. This was the only downside to an otherwise superb hotel experience. Most of the guests were couples and I think this hotel would be limited for families, with no pool area.

Pocket Guide: Taormina, Messina Boutique Hotels

A balcony setting on Mount Tauro with a sweeping view of Sicily’s coastline and Mount Etna gives Taormina its lasting appeal. It is Sicily’s only truly international resort, much-favoured by celebrities. The old quarter’s steep, narrow alleys are filled with window boxes and painted pottery, and best explored on foot. Main sights are the classical remains and Renaissance palaces. The Greco-Roman theatre is still used for concerts and festivals.
