“NICE QUIET PLACE TO STAY”

I had a very nice week at the Days Inn Tampa/Ybor City, Port of Tampa. If you're looking for a nice quiet place, away from the hustle and bustle of the main downtown area; but easy to get downtown---this is a place to stay. Of course, I find it quite a bummer that I always tend to go on vacation alone, but I do enjoy my alone time. Hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgeable; and know quite a bit about places to go in the immediate neighborhood for a quick bite to eat, or a Sunday afternoon out. I was quite impressed with two things in particular...the Brandon Place Shopping Mall in Brandon was rocking with people, and I never did realize that it's as easy as a quick drive down Interstate 4 to go to Orlando. The hotel is also far enough away from the main street and Interstate 4, that you can get a good night's sleep.

“Great service”

The Hotel is a little older but well maintained. The service was great as you could get though!

“Not Impressed”

I have noticed that the Day's Inn motel chain needs to be upgraded. Their rooms are antiquated and need a refreshing lift. Bed's are too firm and pillows too small.

“Close to Ybor City”

The hotel was generally clean and modern. It appeared that they were remodeling. The room looked like there was fresh paint and newer carpet. The bathroom seemed clean but was a little grundgy due to age. The hotel was fine for an overnight trip. I have stayed here about 5-6 times and have never had any major problems.

“Not bad”

Price was right. Hotel was pretty easy to find and the night attendant was very helpful in providing suggested places to eat. However access to parking was limited due to maintenance issues. Also did not appear to be in a good part of town. The continental breakfast was average. Also no internet access.

“Tampa Ybor City”

The problem with the hotel is that it isn't in Tampa or Ybor City and it's about a 10 minute car ride to Ybor City... then had to take the trolley to get to the Tampa Waterfront... The neighborhood of the hotel is a little scary, although the hotel folks made sure to tell us not to take a walk in the area after dark... The bathroom in our room needs a good facelift... from tub to tile to faucets... all were old and beaten up.

“Not impressed”

The surrounding of the hotel was nice. The outside,room size,bathroom size was all very nice. It had a refrigerator & microwave. The only problem that we encounter was the roaches all over the place.

“If you just need a place for the night.”

Based on the reviews, we didn't expect much from this hotel but just needed something reasonably priced for the night between our flight arrival and our cruise departure. We ordered pizza in (great, fast service) as the neighborhood was not great and nothing but Subway at the gas station seemed within walking distance. The room was clean and adequate. The staff, however, were very friendly and very accommodating. We arrived hours before check-in and waited by the pool. The manager kept us updated on how much longer (we did get in a little before actual check-in) and the pool area was very clean. It's nothing fancy and I as others don't recommend venturing out after dark on foot but for a place to stay for a night, it was fine. They also offer a parking option to leave your car if you are taking a cruise.

“Older hotel”

Not that this is bad but it was run down could use a facelift in the rooms you could smell mildew

“nice hotel, horrible staff”

they try to make copies of your license and other private info documents. they ask for a 50$ deposit minimum. The staff is horrible. They are stubborn and unhelpful with no manager that can be reached in person, by the phone, or apparently through smoke signals. The room itself is nice. It's clean and decent. Be careful though, the pool is dirty and you might get stuck on the 3rd floor!
