“South Sea Sailors”
The reception was fantastic. We arrived at 5 a.m. (we had booked for the previous night). We were greeted by name and everything was ready. The room was more than expected - roomy , clean and equipped with complimentary ethernet Internet. Rooms on the street side have traffic noise on occassion. We were able to store our luggage for one last day of shopping before a late flight home. We selected this hotel for downtown Papeete and were not disappointed. We walked everywhere (the market, parks, streets and shops). The pool was pleasant and relaxing. The restaurant was great, though not cheap (over $100 + wine for 2). Nothing is inexpensive in Papeete.
“Finally, a great hotel in downtown Papeete!”
I am a frequent traveler to French Polynesia. And I am thrilled to find the new Hotel Tahiti Nui (formerly the Prince Hanoi). The decor is modern and trendy. The rooms and balconies and wonderful. Comfortable beds, great bathrooms, excellent air conditioning. We enjoyed the outdoor pool and the view of the mountains from our room. But the best part is - if you like to stay in downtown Papeete, close to the Public Market, the roulottes, the shops - this is in walking distance. And the service was excellent. Many thanks to the manager, Gaia!
“BEAUTIFUL”
We were extremely happy with the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful. While the area around the hotel was not that great, it was within walking distance to Papeete and the ferry terminal to Moorea which was where we were going the next day. They day we left to come home, Hotel Tahiti Nui let us store our luggage at the hotel even though we didn't have a reservation for that night. We had stayed there 5 nights previous. The food in the restaurant, Velvet was fantastic.
“Totally satisfactory for a transit stop in Papeete”
We had a one night stop in Papeete and was totally satisfied with the location and the service at the hotel. Had a nice room that looked out towards the mountains at the back of the hotel. Would stay again on our way back if it wasn't USD100 more without the Expedia rate.
“sunny day in tahiti”
great hotel, close to market place and restaurants, only a few blocks from the paul gauguin pier.
“Hotel Tahiti Nui”
Bon hôtel situé en ville ce qui permet de ne pas avoir recours aux taxis. Les prix sont assez élevés mais la prestation est en conséquence.
“Clean, modern, walking distance to ferry terminal”
This is a clean and modern hotel that is conveniently located near Papeete's harbor and I recommend it to any traveler who spends only one night on Tahiti before departing elsewhere (such as Moorea) by ferry or boat.
“Service with a lovely smile!”
This is a downtown hotel, a little way from the airport but good for wandering through town, accessing local eateries and the ferry to Moorea. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful (esp Taina) as I had trouble finding local tours on the long weekend. They were also generous in assisting me for the afternoon/evening when I had a late flight out. The most accomodating front desk staff I have encountered in my travels. Like most hotels, the breakfast seemed expensive but if you're happy to eat on the run, the petrol station next door has a fresh bakery section (and cold drinks) at a great price.
“Efficient and clean”
I agree with other reviewers that it doesn't have a traditional Tahitian feel, but it is clean and refreshing. After the hustle and bustle of the city, it was nice to enter a tranquil environment. The rooms have plenty of space for a family. We enjoyed the pool and the views from the balcony. After being on Moorea for the week, we didn't know that dinner service doesn't start until 7PM! Not wanting to venture out in the dark, we enjoyed dinner at the hotel. It was fancier than our usual taste, but we liked the food. The lobby staff made arrangements for a taxi to get us to the airport in the morning. We got our wake-up call promptly and the taxi was early to pick us up.
“Great place to stay in downtown, close to wharf”
We were told by our travel company to not stay downtown. We did because we wanted to be within walking distance of our cruise ship. It worked perfectly. The hotel is about four short blocks from the wharf. We walked with our luggage but other may want to taxi. In the daylight the interior was bright and sunny. The main elevator was not working so we had to get to the third floor via the utility elevator. (There are no stairs to the 3rd floor.) We had to walk up 8 steps. The security guard did not help us with any luggage. We carried it ourselves. The hotel is modern and a nice design. The room was same with a nice balcony, a lovely bath. Overall the room was roomy. They put us on the street side and it was noisy. If stay there again I would ask for a side room. The balcony was a very nice addition. We did not eat in the hotel, twice as expensive as the local restaurants. In the morning we walked to the main street along the waterfront and had a great breakfast in an outdoor cafe. It was less than half the cost of the buffet in the hotel. We checked out and sat in the lobby for 3 hours working on our computer using the hotel's faint WiFi to connect to email. etc. They do have a computer center that has 2 computers and a printer. All the instructions are in French which was a little confusing. We had been told to be careful of the taxi drivers overcharging for the ride into the hotel. However, our driver charged us 1600 and with tip, it cost us 1900.
