Very clean hotel, beautiful room, great value!

The hotel was very clean and looked newly renovated when we got there, and the staff was very friendly. Payed $81 for three people for a night with two beds. Not bad.

Meh......

Posted 23-Jun-2015
Pros: Free breakfast w/ eggs, sausage, coffee, yogurt, juice.
Cons: The carpet felt really gross, but I'm sure it's just old.
Location: Not sure
I appreciated the breakfast in the morning, very well done. For the price and purpose it was fine. Good location, right by the freeway and restaurants. Friendly staff. The place needs a face lift. It's really dated and worn. There's an empty building attached to the hotel with broken windows and crap everywhere. Not a place to take the family, but not a place where certain people frequent by the hour either, kind of in between.

Don't bother.

Posted 22-Jun-2015
Pros: Front desk staff were excellent and very helpful.
Cons: Update the furniture and TV's. Add a coffee shop or restaurant. Get rid of the perfume smell in the lobby.
Location: A couple of miles from the Tacoma Mall.
Front desk staff was excellent and very helpful. The lobby had a very strong perfume smell that gave me a headache. Apparently it is something that is sprayed automatically. Hotel is dated and has no restaurant. Old television in the room. Dated furniture. Hallways had a chemical/perfume smell. Way overpriced for what you get.

Old, small and dirty

Really needs an upgrade. Didn't even want to sit on the couch it was so dirty. Bathroom toilet was so small it looked like it was made for a child.

Nothing for tea drinkers

Posted 14-Jun-2015
Pros: I liked the treadmill.
Cons: It would be nice to have a readable map of the area with restaurants or a listing in the room with restaurants in the area.
Location: The location was close to the tacomadome, where I had to go for graduation.
Only coffee, nothing for tea drinkers, was not impressed with breakfast. There was debris on the floor at the door jam to the bathroom. Did not appreciate having to pay $40.00 for incidentals and the money won't be released for 3-5 business days.

I would definitely never go back.

Our TV was fuzzy we couldn't get any channels (the few they had) to work hardly. The staff was very rude in the morning and did not get the memo about our extended check out. There were people yelling outside our room several times at different hours in the middle of the night. The room was way too hot and when we would turn on the AC unit it would be freezing cold. We were not at the hotel for very long but the short stay was not enjoyable. Especially for $130 a night. Next time if I'm going to have that quality I'll go to a motel 6 and save some money.

The entire hotel looks like it underwent a recent renovation. For whatever reason, they left the ancient shower off the renovation list. The shower in my room looked disgusting and leaked water onto the floor and wall next to it. You could see numerous patch jobs in the wall and ceiling but the solution to the problem is replacing the shower.

Good value @ convenient I-5 location

Posted 4-Jun-2015
Cons: Repair/allow more temperature control in guest rooms.
This was our first stay at the South Tacoma Red Lion. Front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. Renovations are underway in some common areas. Our room was completely renovated & quite nice. We like to sleep cool, though, and the room's heating/cooling system did not respond to our request to lower the temp to 66 (or 68).

Cost effective hotel

Posted 4-Jun-2015
Pros: Cost effective stay for 1 night
Cons: Mold in the bathroom on the tile
Location: Easy access to I-5 and shopping and Joint Base Lewis McCord
Hotel has recently changed names to Red Lion. They are remodeling the facility. The hotel is located next to I-5 so freeway noise needs to be considered. The remodel is nice, however in some areas cost cutting was done. Food was average for the free breakfast. Bed was new and comfortable.
