Short stay in TacomaPosted 17-Oct-2013
Pros: The room was clean and the shower was great
Cons: Outside of building looks old and dated
Location: Famous Dave's good eating
Check in was painless and easy. Bed gave up a good nights sleep and the area being next to freeway was quite.

Nice Hotel, Not So Great RoomPosted 13-Oct-2013
Pros: The hotel was very clean, the personnel were nice, the bed was very comfortable.
Cons: It would be nice if the manager worked during high volume times, usually Friday through Sunday.
Unfortunately, the hotel had recently installed security lights in their parking lot and, according to the front desk, had installed black out drapes in the rooms facing the lights. Apparently they missed our room. And they couldn't seem to find us a replacement room. The light was blinding. We finally ended up solving the problem ourselves by taking the dark brown bed runner and throwing it over the curtain rod holding the lightweight curtains to block the light and that worked pretty good. We couldn't speak to a manager, she didn't work weekends, and we were given a 30% discount on our next room upon checkout which is worthless because there will be no next room, we won't stay there again. I am asking the manager via email to comp the room. Another problem we had was the heater was so loud, every time it kicked on, it woke us up. We finally had to turn it off.

Please accept my sincerest apologies on behalf of our hotel. We appreciate you taking the time to post a review of your experiences at our property. We take your concerns seriously and the fact that you were not provided the proper room darkening drapes, and that the heating unit was so loud you could not sleep, is disappointing. Please be assured that both of these issues will be addressed accordingly with our staff. Your feedback is appreciated and we will make note of this situation to discuss with our team. Thank you for being a valued guest and we look forward to serving you in the future.

A hotel with easy access to the primary freewaysPosted 7-Oct-2013
Of the limited time I spent at the hotel I found the staff dedicated to the comfort and needs of the guests. I found it refreshing to have complimentary hot coffee available 24 hours a day. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and allowed for my saving significant time each moring.

Will repeat if in the Tacoma areaPosted 16-Aug-2013
Red Lion Tacoma is strategically located for folks heading for McChord AFB; lots of service personnel staying in the hotel; felt right at home being a military retiree and current DoD civilian in the hunt for a retirement community. Red Lion hotels are reasonable and accommodations are well above average - comfortable beds, lots of hot water, everything is clean, free wifi, refrigerator and microwave in the room, continental breakfast: what's not to like? I joined their membership club and will seek out Red Lion hotels at future destinations; really, I'm not getting paid to say that. We also stayed in the Red Lion at Port Angeles, WA and it was just as good as Tacoma, except there was no continental breakfast :-(

Not a nice place to stayPosted 6-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
I was put in a room that had the elevator on one side and the stairs on the other so every single person that passed by made a ton of noise and the door and walls of the room were paper thin. I couldn't get any sleep because of all the noise plus there was some kind of party going on in the parking lot until 2 AM. Hotel management didn't do anything about it and someone ended up calling the police who finally came and broke it up. My room was also very oddly shaped. The bed ran into the bathroom opening and a chair blocked the passageway from the door to the bed. I ended up crawling over furniture just to maneuver around. After no sleep from the noise and being frustrated about the odd room, I complained to the front desk. They didn't care. What a waste of a lot of money.

Room was fine, nice big fridge. Room updates are good. Morning breakfast was included. Dinner - other than fast food you need to drive in order to eat.

I really like staying in this hotel. The staff is friendly. The sheets feel wonderful to slip into. Staying in a king suite is not what we usually do but was a nice splurge. Loved the spa tub! The only real negative was the bed felt like it was broken when I sat down on it. It was still comfortable, I just had to scoot towards the middle.
