A great place for a short stay well located amongst the myriad of restos and shops in Kings Cross. Basic rooms with comfortable beds. Walls a bit thin but it’s an old building. Staff was excellent and wifi worked very well. A great affordable option close to transit for a short stay in Sydney.

We had two separate reservations (two nights each) for the Family Room. Our initial Family Room (same floor as the rooftop) was decent. However, we were rewarded with quite the nice upgrade for our loyalty returning to the same accommodations, which was greatly appreciated. The upgraded Family Room was much more spacious with a wonderful view of the Sydney Tower Eye. Location was superb as it is within 5 minute walking distance to the Kings Cross train station and numerous dining options around Potts Point.

Decent location close to King Cross station and a couple of supermarkets. However our room wasn’t very clean when we checked in, smelt like damp, mould all around the bathroom, non-working safe. Found the shower was leaking so for the first 2 days we had wet carpet in the room from when we checked in. It was finally resolved (albeit very botched) and with no apology. The housekeeping (even though it’s meant to just be basic) is very poor, bins never emptied and when we got the towels replaced we found one dumped on the floor by the toilet. Would not stay again.

Spacious flat, good kitchen & bathroom. Bed was realy comfortable with plenty of pillows. I didnt use the cupboard but there was storage if needed. I didnt arrive until late and hadnt been sent any instructions on how to access Out of Hours, so had to call through the emegency line. Was there a week and only saw staff at reception maybe two or three times?

This property was awful. I was put in the basement were the high was illegal (could touch ceasing with my hand and I am short. They split my group and my friends were in level 1 while I was in the “dungeon”. It was also so noise (could hear people above me as well as the delivery guy carrying things in at 5 am), it was dirty and just not well maintained. Definitely would not recommend it 💔

Handy position but it wasn’t clean. Cups and cutlery literally had lipstick and grime on them. The chairs and couch were so grimy we only sat on the bed. There were empty used water bottles still in the top cupboard. And don’t get us started on the smell. Oh. My. Goodness. And FYI the aircon doesn’t work well. I will finish with a positive, the bed and pillows were cozy.

Great location and room, need better maintenance
The neighborhood and location are superb, and the building and room are in good physical condition. Front desk staff was friendly, though unlike many hotels, there is no night staff at the desk (not that we needed it). Biggest concern was that, despite checking in at 5:55pm, when we got to the room, the door was open and the guy was still making it up. We waited on the rooftop deck (which was lovely) for a few minutes. The bathroom trash had not been emptied. Over the span of the 5 days we were there, there was no visit to the room to replace/refresh the towels, or (sadly) to replenish toilet paper or the mini shampoo bottles. The toilet has an inconsistent leak that would sometimes happen, and you'd hear the tank refill on and off for hours and hours, despite all of the tank jiggling (I opened the lid and fiddled with it a bit to no avail). I stepped on a piece of broken glass on the floor beside the bed and left it on the counter next to the sink. Clearly vacuuming is not very thorough. It's a fine hotel, with comfortable and lovely rooms; it just needs a bit more attention to detail when it comes to servicing and making up the rooms.

This property was rated at a 4 star but it was not. I had a basement room (my room was a number less than 108; when I couldn't find my room, I was told it was in the basement. A window and French doors in the room might have opened (I didn't try) but there were concrete panels about 6 inches in front of them which would have limited benefit. The curtains covering the windows were old and not hung properly. There were trip hazards as you entered the room and the bathroom which I wasn't warned about. The carpet was pretty disgusting and there was a small couch type thing that 'possibly' was clean (giving the benefit of the doubt) but it had multiple big water type marks all over it - I couldn't even consider sitting on it it looked so awful. The lightshade by the bedside was old and yellowed with small tears and cracks in it. The overall effect was a feeling of it generally being unclean, though the benchtops and bathroom, and dishes etc appeared clean. The power point near the bed didn't work. The handbasin in the bathroom was very very low as was the toilet (and I'm only 152cm tall!. I cannot comment on what the rest of the rooms are like; maybe the above ground rooms might have been better? The area was central and very close to Kings Cross station, though as a single woman I did not feel safe to walk down the main street on my own after dark. There is a 'boutique' supermarket across the road and plenty of eating places nearby.

Great value for money accomodation. While the rooms are simple and smaller they are clean and the proximity to so many Sydney highlights is fantastic. Also enjoyed the roof top terrace.
