“Manor House Hotel”

A warm welcome at reception. Delightful old home and garden, my bedroom was beautiful, quiet and comfortable. The men at 'reception' were obliging, friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was disappointing, ie. no fruit, empty urn. The young lady responsible, behaved as if the hotel guests were an inconvenience. It was most interesting reading about the lives of the pioneering family who built the house. It was a convenient place to stay in an interesting suburb.

Lovely old mansion, with consistent and appropriate furnishings. A great bed!

I'd come back because the location is great, its very secure, it feels homly and has a great lounge to hang in. That said for the price I paid - my room was tres small and the breakfast was well what can I say...canned fruit cornflakes white bread plastic cheese! - mmmm that lets the experience down. Shame - such a nice boutique feel - a bfast without extra overheads for the property but a little more creativity would make the experience nicer!

The pictures on the website make the hotel look far better than it actually is...in reality it is quite shabby and the furniture just looks old and in need of a good clean. When checking in, the mirror behind the desk was filthy...I knew then it was a mistake to be at this hotel... Someone had pre set our alarm to go off (at the highest of volume) bang on midnight...after nearly giving us a heart attack and trying to get back to sleep, it went off again 15 minutes later...I'm sure it must have woken up the rest of the guests..But if that didn't, the "Queen" who came home at 6am certainly would have...banging on doors and shouting at his "girlfriend" to give him his phone back or he was going down to reception to phone the cops....We tried ringing reception to try and get them to shut up...but no one was there... The tiles in the bathroom around the shower/SINGLE OLD spa bath were very mouldy...they get like that when you don't clean them properly...the fresh towels that were delivered on Sunday had 3 nice big long black hairs on them, looked very much like they belonged to the staff member I'd seen earlier...I left them on the side of the bath...I paid 4 star rates...this hotel (read B&B) was more like a crappy 2 star.
