“Good location, friendly, helpful staff”
We were warmly welcomed and had a fabulous room - spacious and with a king-size bed. The hotel was easy to find by car, and handy to the airport. The dining room served a lovely dinner. We would definitely book there again when travelling to or from Gatwick Airport.
“Our stay”
The room was spacious and pretty well kitted out but the en-suite shower room was very cramped and for someone over 6ft the sloping roof made it difficult to use standing up straight; splashback comes to mind. Breakfast was very filling and to have a choice of how eggs were cooked a good plus. Excellent value for money given our stay was between Christmas and New Year. Will use again.
“Gatwick Stoppover”
Booked a triple room. The room rate matched the room. Close to the airport a plus. The room was small and heated but the heating could not bne regulated so the windows auto be wide open to compensate. The bathroom hand basin took up most of a very small bathroom. Luckily the bathroom door would stay close when shut as the lock was broken. Limited lighting as a number of globes were out. Overall if you need a room at a cheap price to get to an early morning Gatwick flight this is ok. Anything else may need further consideration.
“Delusional 4-star”
I have never written a review for anything in my life before this, but I was so annoyed by my one-night stay here that I had to break my rule. The Corner House is listed as a 4-star hotel, but it is little more than a low-end B&B. In fact, the hostel I recently stayed at in Germany was a better deal than this. Our room was on the first floor right above the bar. No one offered to help with our luggage up the narrow staircase. The room was clean enough, but you could hear everything downstairs in the bar. When I called the hotel before making the actual booking, there had been no mention of a charge for the airport shuttle service; that was a nice little surprise when I arrived. The reception staff doubled as the restaurant wait staff, and even though they knew we had gone in to seat ourselves, no one came to serve us until at least 10 minutes later, and only after we had gone to get help. Then the waitress came to take our order without having actually offered us menus, and then she came back with one menu for two people. I don't need a lot of material comforts, especially for a one-night stay before an early flight. What I cannot stand is when people in the service industry have absolutely no clue about customer service, and are delusional enough to think they are providing quality accommodations. Why inflate expectations, only to not deliver?
“2 star not 4 star”
WiFi not working except for few momemts despite several requests to the staff. No hairdryer in the room despite claim to 4 star rating. Overall poor experience
