“Kind of run down”
Not an awful place if you need to stay in Summit, but old and dated without much to recommend it.
“Past Its Prime”
Quaint and cozy, but too pricey for a place that needs renovating in the individual rooms. Had to pay for parking, too, in a virtually empty open-air lot. It was very convenient to the train to NYC, though - we could walk. Good breakfast, included. Don't count on storing drinks or leftovers in the fridge or using the microwave, though, because those aren't available.
“A somewhat tired hotel”
Although the room itself had been recently renovated, we felt that they had made the best of a bad job. The supposedly queen size bed seemed rather smaller than that and the room appeared cramped and badly organized. Service was indifferent and the staff seemed unenthusiastic. Not a great place to return to.
“not impressed”
not much service room was a bit dingy
“Heating system problem in new wing at spring and fall”
My 85 year old father froze because the system just blew cold air when the outside temp was 50. Unexpected in a 4 star hotel.
“This Is Not a 4 Star Hotel”
My wife and I stayed at the Grand Summit Hotel this past weekend and were extremely disappointed. First off at our arrival the valet parkers went out of their way to avoid eye contact and acknowledge that we were there. No doorman or bellhop to help with the doors or luggage, and my wife had to speak up at the front desk to get the person behind the desk to acknowledge her for check-in. Our room was one of the more recently refurbished rooms that was done tastefully and though the bathroom was a bit small it was renovated as well. One issue with the bathroom was the cleanliness. The walls around the toilet needed to be cleaned- gross! The bedding is a completely different story- we must have had the cheapest, most uncomfortable mattress ever- worse than my college futon! Fortunately we brought our own pillows since the ones the hotel offers are too thick and too hard. The brunch was okay, but nothing to write home about. You'd be better off walking into town and paying for a decent brunch. One last thing- there is a funky, musty, run down smell about the hotel. I think management needs to retrain the staff, clean the hotel from top to bottom, and get some decent bedding to be called a 4 star hotel.
