“Anniversary stay at the Inn at Stonecliffe”
We were amazed at the beautiful setting of this hotel. We thought we would miss being in the downtown area where the 'crowds' were but it was so nice to get away, take the carriage ride up and see this old mansion appear before us! We would like to return next year!
“Very nice place to stay”
The staff were extremely helpful in our even getting to the island, as we'd missed the last boat. The woman arranged for us to fly over, and then would not accept a tip for doing so. The food was expensive, but well worth the price. Best carrot cake I've ever had, and the service was very respectful and helpful. Over all, the only thing I found not to my liking was the size of the flat screen tv, which turned out to be a computer monitor. However, we go to Mackinac to see the sights, not to watch tv.
“An 'early season' treat!”
This place is loaded with charm, peace and quiet. I loved the more isolated location. Estate is expansive and beautiful. I really feel that I "escaped" to the island that night, thanks to Stonecliffe. The midnight walk from the Mustang bar back to Stonecliffe was an experience in solitude, being surrounded by dark forest and passed by a rarely occasional bicyclist; I really liked that. Much to explore in the area surrounding the estate's grounds - woods, paths, bluffs, views of the Mighty Mac. Room had delightful, turn-of-the-century charm and comfy beds; oh, and nice view. I will return to this hotel.
“StoneCliffe is a Hidden Gem on Mackinac Island”
We had an enjoyable stay at he StoneCliffe Inn on Mackinac. The inn is located away from the downtown area of the island, so it's ideal for anyone who wants to get away and relax. The grounds around the hotel are beautiful, with a great view of the bridge. There are paths for walking, and the hotel has a pool. There are two nice restaurant options near StoneCliffe. We had an excellent dinner in the inn. The Woods is also located nearby, and we heard several posititive comments about it. The main thing to think about is what you want out of your Mackinac experience. Visitors who haven't been to the island before may want to be located closer to downtown so that there are more restaurants, bars, and shops closer to where they are staying. We live in Michigan and had done all of that on previous visits to Mackinac, so we wanted a more relaxed get-away. The StoneCliffe was perfect for that. Even though the inn is about 2 miles from the ferry docks, it was easy to get there. Our luggage was transported from the ferry to the inn for us, so we were able walk around the downtown area and take a horse-drawn taxi to the StoneCliffe later. The next day we walked from the inn to downtown, since the weather was nice. It was a bit of a walk, but a taxi isn't required.
“We will be back!!!”
My wife and I spent a lovely 2 days on the Island at the Stonecliffe, and could not have been happier. The location away from the hustle and bustle of downtown could not be beat. If you want to settle into "island time" there is not a better place on earth to do it. Dinner at the Inn should not be missed either!
“Beautiful hotel in the woods”
Lovely, old hotel - very relaxing and well maintained and excellent breakfast.
“Wonderful Property with Breathtaking Views”
I love the Inn at Stonecliffe. This was our first visit to this property and I can honestly say that it is going to be our first choice for next year! The views are amazing, service wonderful. We had dinner in the restaurant and the view from our table was breathtaking. My husband couldn't believe that I was quiet during dinner (I was just staring out at the Mackinac bridge). I would highly recommend this property.
“perfect location”
The hotel was great perfect location away from town the staff was friendly and helpful. We definitely will be back
“It has character!”
