“Deserves a higher rating”
Had a king-sized room in the main Inn building itself. It was a very comfortable room - large and quiet. The rest of the building was very nicely appointed. Breakfast was self-serve (make your own toast, waffles, etc.), which was perfect for getting a quick start before a day of skiing. The front desk manager (who was very helpful) informed me that breakfast is included for all rooms (that wasn't clear from the room descriptions). The town center is a short stroll from the property, perfect to stretch the legs before/after dinner. The Inn is easily a three-star hotel experience, I would definitely recommend it!
“A nice fall retreat”
We had a great time at the Stowe Inn. Our room was perfect for our family of 4. We enjoyed the hot tub, game room, and family room area. The breakfast in the morning was enjoyable. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back.
“Excellent place, near the center of town and the mountatin.”
Once we were checked in, the room was exactly as expected. Large, clean, in great condition. Bathroom was a little small for the three of us (me, girlfriend and her daughter), but that was manageble. The restuarant in the hotel had good food, but the continental breakfast was excellent and included in the price. Also, the bartender, Dave, was outstanding to talk to about local places and provided excellent service. Location was outstanding, near all of the restuarants and the center of town. Would love to go back, either as a family getaway, or romantic weekend.
“Nice Inn with good location”
This Inn was very nice, however we opted for the bit lesser expensive motel room behind the Inn versus the rooms in the Inn. The motel room was clean but outdated and less standard from the Inn rooms (per pics online). The Inn was very nice and comfortable. Comfortable roomy seating areas near a fireplace. Wireless connection available. Good complimentary breakfast in the nice restaurant. The location was also very convenient to shops and restaurants and ski area.
“Great location, satisfactory, well-priced lodgings”
The Inn was in a great location; walking distance from the little downtown area and a lot of very good restaurants. The room was nice and big and newly carpeted, though the bathroom area was definitely on the older side. The decor was minimal and not particularly interesting, but the room was clean, which is all I really care about, anyways. The continental breakfast had waffles (among other things) and pretty good, strong, coffee and was served in their restaurant area, so the view was nice. I believe we got a good price for the room, considering the hotel's location so, overall, I was pleased.
“Needs updating”
Room was spacious, complimentary breakfast excellent. Lighting in room was poor. Bathtub was extremely slippery. No hair dryer.
“Meh, good to save a few bucks”
I chose the Stowe Inn for three reasons: It was closer to Middlebury than my home in New York City, it allowed dogs and it was cheap. But once I got there, I had that familiar feeling of getting to a place after a very long drive and kicking myself for not spending a little more for a nicer place. The room was incredibly hot, with no A/C or fan or circulation of any sort. The beds were so small that my 6'3 boyfriend's feet hung off the edge. There were weird marks on the walls, a leaky bathroom that had seen better days and, yes... it kind of smelled. This is not (I repeat, NOT) a knock on the staff or a suggestion that I got bad service or that anything negative happened. The staff was charming, helpful, kind, all that good stuff. The room was inexpensive. But personally, I'd rather stay in a Hilton and pay twice as much than cheap it out in that room again. And to be honest, I've stayed at Motel 6-like hotels for even less than the price of this place for cleaner, nicer rooms. If you're really looking to save money (and, especially, if you have pets that you're bringing along) then it's a fine place in a decent location.
“Not impressed”
Very pricey for the conditions. The main building was beautiful, spacious and clean. Our room was comfortable but the bathroom was a shocking mess. The towel rod was broken and it was the only place in the bathroom to put anything. The floor was disgusting. There was no shelf or rack in the shower to hold soap, shampoo (of which there was only one complimentary). The extra towels we requested took forever and were in limited supply. The bathroom door latch was hanging by one screw so did not close properly.
“Ok but very basic, convenient location”
Fairly expensive for what you get. Promised WIFI in ad but not able to connect from room. Front desk people not helpful - told us to reboot. We concluded that there was WIFI only if you were staying in the main building of the inn (but we weren't). Everything is old and could use updating. Nice outdoor pool.
“a bit disappointed”
While the hotel was adequate for our stay we were a bit disappointed. The staff was quite nice but there appeared to be no housekeeping beyond making the bed. We never recevied clean towels and the only cleaning done was by us. We had a three night stay and would have appreciated more care to our room. Again the staff was lovely but the restaurant and bar were disappointing too. Many of the items on the freshly printed menu were not available when ordered and the bar was not stocked. It is a beautiful inn but the "lodge" where we stayed is outdated and fortunately an airconditiioner was installed sometime during our first day. We have given this inn second try but will not stay again unless we have too It was UVM graduation weekend and the place just wasn't what we had hoped for.
