“Loved Stowehof Inn”
My daughter & I stayed at Stowehof recently for a college visit in Burlington. We were very impressed w/ both Stowe & The Stowehof Inn. We found the starff to be VERY down to earth & friendly - the inn was beautiful, yet not stuffy. Our room was quaint & very clean, but the AC was not the best, & the bathroom was too warm. We loved the library, and the gardens/grounds were just lovely. We were only able to take advantage of the free breakfast 1 out of our 2 mornings there, as we had to leave for Burlington by 7am. An earlier breakfast time would be nice. It was delicious w/ a nice variety. When we got back from Burlington, we discovered a wedding going on. This was fine, but I would have like to have been informed of this ahead of time (very limited parking & Emily's was closed). We ate @ the pub downstairs - very cozy w/ a fire in fireplace. The food was very good - prices were not. We ea. ordered a ceasar salad & shared appetizer of "potato skins" -good, but were really 2x stuffed potatoes. Menu read: ceasar salad $7.99 ...add shrimp (tuna or steak) $8.99. I assumed the shrimp addition made price $1.00 more & orderd it too - but it was additional $8.99 on bill (misleading). We also had an icecream & cheesecake slice. The total bill + tip =$62. EXTREMELY expensive! That is really my only complaint. Overall, I enjoyed my stay VERY much. I would love to stay there again - however, I would eat my dinner @ another, more affordable restaurant off site.
“Great place to relax”
Great ski lodge or summer b&b just up from the main street in Stowe, about 15 minutes from Burlington. Very cool living room-lounge area with books, games, and a sunken sitting area with a fireplace. There are indoor and outdoor pools with mountain views, friendly accommodating staff and nice dining (we had breakfast only and were surprised at the quantity of the food - excellent omelettes!).
“Rustic neo-1940's Bavaran Ski Chalet”
We loved the neo-1940's simulation of the Bavarian Alps Chalet which was so popular in the middle of the last century as the ski industry took off after WW II. Old barn boards and a basement/walkout pub loaded with artifacts were a delight. No air, I guess, brought down the ranking of some past guests, but ... the food ... the food is to die for. Definitely going back.
“A great place to escape a hurricane”
Although we had booked one night here, we stayed for two to escape Hurricane Irene. Hence we had a full day in the hotel during the storm and we could not have asked for nicer surroundings. The hotel is full of character, in a lovely setting with superb views. Thus it is not just a ski centre but an excellent all-year hotel. Breakfast was good without being outstanding and service was very friendly. Our only complaint was a very noisy bathroom fan. We were upgraded to a room with a dressing room and a shared kitchen.
“Happy we stayed here”
The Stowehof was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was well prepared. Housekeeping was friendly and prompt. Its location has a great view of the mountains and is centralized to all of the area's best sites. My only complaint is that the room Tvs were a bit small. Stay here!
“Endroit superbe”
Superbe hotel dans une zone tranquille. Caractère rustique et invitant. Nous avons réservé 3 chambres et tous mes amis étaient ravis. Nous y retournerons absolument à nos prochaines visites à Stowe.
“Stowehof was worth the stay”
Out of the busy sector, just up a hill the Stowehof was worth staying in. The beautiful view from every corner of the the inn was beautiful. it was worth the stay and I recommend this inn to everyone.
“Rustic, Cozy and a unique experience!”
From the moment we pulled up we were impressed. The dinner was very good - a bit pricey, but very good. After dinner we went to the bar for a 1 drink ea. (we paid cash at the bar). Upon check out, we were told we had a balance from the bar. The lady made us feel like we were lieing - up to that point we really enjoyed our stay, but would definately recommend using your card the whole time.
