“An amazing experience”
This hotel is an old manor house situated just outside Stockholm proper. The restaurant and terrace face onto a lake and huge city park. The interior is very tastefully done with a mixture of antique and Swedish modern. Our room was a duplex. The stairs going up to the bedroom were very steep, which might pose a problem for some people. Otherwise, it was very nice. No air conditioning, but a fan was provided. We just opened our windows. The one problem is that there is major road construction going on the street side of the hotel. You don't want a room facing out to it. We faced out onto a beautiful courtyard. The breakfast buffet is incredible with homemade breads and pastries, yogurts, cereals, eggs, homemade herring, cheese, reindeer, jams, cold vegetables, etc. The restaurant is top class but expensive (then again, all restaurants in Stockholm are expensive). Even though this hotel is located just outside of town, you can walk two minutes to a bus stop and go directly to all the main areas like Old Town. It's very, very easy access to the city center and worth it to be in such an idyllic setting. Some of the staff were not knowledgeable about bus routes, but otherwise they were very helpful and extremely nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
“peaceful hotel”
a charming and comfortable hotel, a little out from the city centre but very well served by public transport. Nothing was too much trouble for staff and the food was superb. Delicious breakfasts in the dining room looking out over the lake. A very quiet hotel - we hardly heard any other guests yet the hotel was full! A perfect place to stay.
“By the water”
We found the hotel easily from Arlanda by the airport bus, which dropped off 50mts away. The location was fantastic on the edge of the Archipelago. We walked to the city centre within 25 mins, and round the waters edge through a beautiful park. The hotel was very typically 'Swedish' and very hospitable. We took a note of it and hope to return.
“Wonderful place to stay”
This hotel was great. The building itself was beautiful and the grounds were nice. It's next to a lake and was very scenic. Lots of walking trails and withing walking distance to several restaurants. The hotel restaurant was very pricey for dinner, but very high quality. The breakfast, which is part of the room price, was outstanding. One of the few places we could find with double beds.
“Full Marks to the Stallmastaregarden Hotel”
I have never given full marks for a hotel before but the Stallmastaregarden Hotel exceeded our expectations. The hotel was very romantic, just the right scale, fantastic views and an excellent staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we received a free room upgrade on checking in. Doesn't get much better than that. We intend to come back in the summer for further pampering. The airport bus stops 50m from the hotel. We walked into Stockholm each day just to experience the city and got the bus/undergound back. Very easy.
“Superb hotel.”
One of the most enjoyable hotels I've ever stayed in. Rooms are modern, ample in size, well furnished. Breakfasts, included, are a very enjoyable experience, great food in a beautiful dining area. Staff are extremely nice.
“Best place I've stayed!”
The hotel is situated on one of the big lakes just north of the city centre. The views are spectacular from both the more expensive rooms and the hotel restaurant. If you have a cheaper room, be prepared for a view overlooking a busy road (although blocked by trees). However, even with the proximity of the road, you don't notice the traffic noise due to the excellent sound proofing of the rooms. The bed in the room was the most comfortable I have ever slept in, it was difficult getting out of a morning. Breakfast was served in the hotel restaurant and I can say that it was exceptional. Offering both cold and warm options, meats, cheeses, yoghurts, nuts, breads, pastries.. just everything. My tip would be to stock up in a morning and save yourself some money for later on in the day, stockholm food is VERY expensive. Of an evening you should try the hotel restaurant, the food was top notch. Pricey by UK standards but the norm for Swedish, expect to pay around £100 (for two) for a main course, glass of wine and a shared desert. All staff members spoke excellent English and were all very helpful. If flying to and from Arlanda airport there is a special airport bus that drops almost right outside the hotel, it's much more convenient than getting the Arlanda express, the bus costs about £12 for a single. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the nearest underground but there is a bus that stops just outside the hotel which will take you in to town. All in all, wonderful!
“Great Hotel”
Really good hotel. Comfy room and good breakfast. Restaurant is expensive but worth it and the park is on your doorstep. Staff are friendly and helpful and free tea on our last day was a nice touch Loads of road works at the front but you will not notice from the hotel though you may get a bit lost if your on the bus from the airport. Just head for the underpass and you'll be ok. 20 minute walk into town, local restaurants were ok and aside from road works a really nice area. Really peaceful, great ambience and full of character.
“Could have stayed forever!”
From the moment we set foot inside this hotel there was a feeling of comfort and welcome. Staff were wonderful - nothing was too much bother for them (even if you arrived late for breakfast!) Breakfast wonderful - didn't need to eat again till evening! Rooms were very comfortable. Nicely decorated and warm. Overall this is probably the best hotel I have stayed in for overall quality. I was sad to leave.
“Hôtel agréable”
Bel hôtel. Décoré avec goût. Situation étrange : d'un côté le lac, de l'autre une bretelle d'autoroute. Mais l'ensemble est agréable.
