“Very pleased with this hotel”
The Mornington Hotel was a pleasant surprise. It appears to be a business hotel in a very nice neighborhood. We were easily able to walk the few blocks to the Stockholm waterfront. Our room was large, very clean and more than adequate. It was furnished in a Scandinavian somewhat Spartan style, which was all we wanted. Beds were quite comfortable. The breakfast was positively outstanding with an immense assortment of food - far from the typical breakfast one finds in a three star American hotel. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the lack of a stand on which to place a heavy suitcase, thus requiring me to leave the suitcase open on the floor, which I found awkward and difficult. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly. It was a good buy in a very expensive city. We loved the nearby open air market and the variety of interesting shops.
“OK hotel”
Good hotel. The bar was closed for renovation and couldn't drink in the lobby. For some reason I got a smaller room than the others who booked the same room. Not much going on around the area and you have to walk 10-15 min walk to the clubs, and there were no bars around or open fast food place during the night. Close to the subway station which is convenient.
“Books galore”
The coolest thing about this hotel that you don't realize until you arrive is the vast number of books in the lobby, each room, the dining area, etc. The place is swarming with books, which gives this hotel a unique feel. The hotel is spacious and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is very tasty, but on the weekends it can be a bit crowded, as the locals go there for brunch. I would definitely recommend staying here. We also enjoyed the neighborhood immensely. You are about a 15 min. walk to the central station and old town, however there is quite a bit to see close by to the hotel as well.
“Comfortable accommodations”
Rooms were small, but clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was very good. Water bottles provided at no extra charge. Great Italian restaurant down the street from the hotel!
“Östermalm haven for book lovers”
The Mornington in Östermalm is ideally located near Stureplan in a quiet neighborhood. My room was large enough to accomodate my bicycle without feeling crowded. Staying at this hotel feels like living at a library: the primary decoration is bookshelves, both in the lobby and in the rooms, filled with books, mostly in Swedish. It is a very comfortable place. The breakfasts, which are included, contained a special treat this time: Swedish pancakes.
“Great Value for Quality of hotel.”
I got to the hotel, which is in a very nice upscale area of stockholm. I am from the US but have been traveling through Europe a long time now for work. Usualyl 4 stars in Europe is usually a bit embelished, however in this case it was the truth. Check in was super fast, even though i arrived at midnight everything was smooth. My room was great, modern, and the bathroom was very nice. They have FACE soaps, which are fantastic and super expensive at the store. The bed was super comfortable as well. There were a few things i would say are wrong, first the TV is crap there is like 5 channels, that is no biggie though at all. Second there was no internet, i coudlnt log onto the wireless service to save my life, and i am an IT expert so it wasnt lack of knowledge. The staff let me know they were having problems with internet, but for 5 days??? Lastly breakfast ends a bit early, 10 AM. I got there at 10:30 and there were a few crackers and cheese available but nothing much at all. I also have to give it hands down the nicest and best gym i have been to for a hotel in Europe that isnt a health spa hotel. The gym is fantastic, it has everything you need to workout, even boxing equipment, spa, and sun tanning. Lastly the hotel does seem like its under construction and there seemed stuff not 100% done in the bathroom of the room and all around the hotel. I am a bit of a picky OCD type when it comes to cleanliness and this room was great for me.
“Popular hotel, great location in Stockholm's Ostermalm”
We enjoyed our stay at the Mornington. We had lived in the Ostermalm area of Stockholm for a year so this hotel was in our old stomping grounds. When we lived there we didn't realize how busy this place was. The lobby bar and restaurant were busy each night--weekend breakfasts were very busy. Our room was typical of a European hotel--not huge but nicely appointed and comfortable. The area is perfect, I was working and it was very close to the Ostermalm T-bana station. Our friends lived all around so my wife was walking, shopping and at coffee (fika) with her friends each day. We got a pretty good rate through Expedia so were happy with this as well. All in all it was a good experience.
“Suitable for overnight airport stay”
Very efficiently run hotel with free and frequent minibus conections with airport. Excellent breakfast buffet.
“Great Hotel, covenient, with a great price”
My husband and I visited here in August 2009. We were extreemly happy with this hotel. The reception area was nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived early and the room was ready for check in. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The free breakfast was wonderful. It had lots of cereal, rolls and fresh fruit. The coffee was strong but pentiful. It had other Swedish foods like blueberry soup, cold cuts and bacon that is undercooked by American standards, but there were so many choices, we left with full bellies. The hotel was a short walk to everything. It was all in walking distance of the train station, Gamla Stan, the town hall and even the Vasa. We pruchase a Stockholm Card and used it to save a lot of money. The trollies, subways and buses are very convenient if you get tired of walking. If I had all the money in the world to spend, I would have stayed in Gamla Stan. I don't, so if I am ever in Stockholm again, I will stay in this wonderful hotel.
“Nice Boutique Hotel with Small Rooms”
The Hotel is in a great location. All the rooms were small but recently renovated. Breakfast was excellent. There was no doormen to take our bags. No room service. No bar in room. The room reminded me of a small cabin room on a cruise ship. A great place to sleep and have breakfast, but not large enough to hang out. Good business hotel.
