Property Amenities
The Lord Nelson Hotel is an intimate, friendly and pleasant hotel right in the heart of Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town – close to the city centre and all the capital’s sights and attractions. But most of all the hotel includes a unique, private collection of marine antiques - passionately collected through the decades by the owner family Bengtsson.
Room Amenities
Rooms
The hotel’s maritime atmosphere permeates the rooms with their “ship’s decking” wood floors, a porthole in the bathroom door and a model ship, which is an exact replica of the antique ship that gave the room its name. The names of the room categories are also borrowed from life on the seven seas.

“Lord Nelson Comes To The Rescue!”
Attractive hotel with very helpful staff. Plenty of food at breakfast and lots of choice. Good location to get around Stockholm. If you're willing you can walk to most places. When our flight was cancelled, and we were stranded at the airport on our journey home, they came to the rescue with a room at their sister hotel the Lady Hamilton. The information desk at Arlanda Airport had told us there were no rooms available in Stockholm or the area around the Airport. So we rang the Lord Nelson and they were brilliant. We would definitely recommend either the Lord Nelson or Lady Hamilton hotels.
“Seven night stay at the Lord Nelson Hotel”
My husband and I stayed at the Lord Nelson Hotel from July 22 through July 29, 2008. We had a double room the first and last nights, as my husband was traveling elsewhere while I stayed in Stockholm for the entire trip. As the hotel states, the building that houses the Lord Nelson is very narrow, so the rooms are small. However, the double was more than adequate for the two of us. We had two different doubles and one was larger than the other. My single room was small, but again, it was more than adequate for one person. All the rooms had big windows, very comfortable beds, and the bathrooms were very good also (no tub, but an excellent tiled shower). The staff was excellent, and the breakfast (included in the price) was also very good. It included a variety of breads, meats, cheeses, vegetables, fruit, cereals, and hard or soft boiled eggs. There was, of course, coffee, and tea, juices, milk, yogurt, jams and muffins. Finally the location couldn't be beat--right in the heart of the old town, Gamla Stan. I've traveled to many different European cities where many hotels have small rooms. It is just something that Americans aren't used to, and it can come as a surprise to first time travelers to Europe. That said, this hotel offers excellent service, comfort, and location, and I recommend it highly.
“Quirky, wonderful, nautical.”
A fantastic, quirky hotel. The narrowest hotel in Sweden at six meters wide, the Lord Nelson is nevertheless cleverly set out and doesn't feel as narrow as it is. On the first floor is a small library and free internet computer, and from the library you can look down on the main street of the Old Town. Other reviewers have described the rooms as small, but I found mine plenty big enough, with a lovely little writing desk and a porthole in the door to the ensuite bathroom. (Only a shower, however, and complimentary shampoo only from a dispenser in the wall, which is hardly that dreadful really.) A unique feature is the "poop deck", the roof where you can sit and look out at the city, which is beautiful in the evenings. The staff are ever so friendly, and breakfast is good; even, I, a vegan, found enough to eat. I highly recommend this hotel, which is in perhaps the spot which can rightly claim to be the very centre of Stockholm.
“Seafaring Character”
We received a very warm welcome to this charming hotel in Stockholm's pedestrian Old Town, from which we could walk just about anywhere we wished. Parking was tricky, requiring leaving the rental vehicle at the sister hotel, Lady Hamilton, around the corner. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and assisted us with a few snarls that we envcountered when we first arrived. Free Internet was very useful.
“Perfect location, full of character, great little hotel”
Great little place. The location could not be better, right in the heart of the Old Town, around the corner from the Royal Palace and very easy to get to. The nautical theme throughout the hotel is fun. The rooms are small but comfortable and it is much more interesting than a chain hotel. If you want large and impersonal I'm sure there are plenty of those in other parts of Stockholm. Service was great. The staff are super friendly and the hotel clean and well looked after. Breakfast is a good continental breakfast - toast, cereal, bread, cheese and meats. It is included in the price, and is not stale like in some larger hotels. Check out the roof garden too.
“small but perfectly formed”
I really enjoyed this place, yes the rooms are petite but they are more than sufficient, very comfortable and quiet. The location is excellent and you can step straight out into the centre of old stockholm, the staff are great, breakfast delicious and the sauna hot! I would definately stay here again.
“superbe hotel au coeur de la ville”
Très bien situé sur l ile de Gamla Stan au coeur de Stockholm, cet hotel aux allures de bateau est super. A proximité de tous les lieux touristiques, l accueil y est chaleureux est vous aurez la possibilité d aller dans le sauna de l hotel.
“Steerage-size”
Imagine a grid, four columns by three rows. Each square is the size of one-third of a single mattress. The rooms here consist of three squares for the bed, three for the bathroom, one for a closet, one for a desk with tv, one for the desk-associated chair. But I absolutely loved it. It was efficient, cozy, wooden. The continental breakfast, included with room, is quite excellent. This place is literally right in the middle of everything, too, and faces one of the main drags of Gamla Stan, the central "old town" neighborhood of Stockholm. You can walk to the train station and the bus station and an underground station. Strong recommend for solo travelers.
“Lovely centrally located hotel”
The Lord Nelson is a lovely, almost quaint, hotel. It's central location right in the middle of Gamla Stan is perfect for shopping, and was just the right place to be coming up to Christmas. My room was very small, which enhances the feeling of being in a ship's cabin. It was warm and clean, and as I was only needing it as a base for going out, it's size didn't matter. Breakfast was included, a help yourself buffet of bread/ham/eggs/cheese/cereal etc. This was very peaceful, and didn't finish till 11am. They had local and even one English newspaper. A very convenient and friendly hotel.
“Stockholm Success”
Very central hotel - small and full of character. Very well kept. Good service from receptionists and breakfast waitress - all very helpful and remembered us and our room numbers when we came back from a day sightseeing. Rooms small but we didn't spend the day in them! They had everything we needed. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room not overlooking the street as it can be noisy. We enjoyed the view from the roof garden (poop deck!). All in all we had a fab stay and would definitely go back.
