A bad start all around, but it did get better
It all started badly. We got to the hotel and there was no one to let us in. We only sneaked in as someone else was going out. When we got in, it was more than 10 minutes while we waited for someone to answer the phone and give us directions to get into our room. Not a great start. Then we were given a room with two single beds, not what we asked for. And finally...I realised that most other Hotels.com offerings give a photo of the rooms and this did not. Oh no. It was a good thing we did not bring our cat - no room to swing him around! A full length mirror it was impossible to stand in front. And all of the rooms are below ground, so little natural light. At least we were able to ascertain that no one could look in. So a bad start all around. After our initial impression things got better. While quite small, the room was tidy and very neat. The bathroom was ok as long as you are used to Scandinavian style which means no shower stall which allows water to go everywhere. Breakfasts were good and the staff very friendly but i will remember to steer clear of any hotels which do not offer photos of rooms.

Dear Expedia, this guest never stayed at Hotel Söder. How is it possible that you then on Expedias site get an opportunity to leave a review about a hotel? Its misleading for your guests and it affects the individual hotel's brand. We've informed you at Expedia of this and we now kindly ask you to remove this.

Super location. Delicious breakfast. Nice staff
You cannot have a better location than this hotel. Right in the middle of the bustling Södermalm area. We were pleasantly surprised by the included breakfast. It has quite a variety of options to choose from and lactose free options as well. The staff was incredibly nice and friendly. The room is small, but who comes to Stockholm to only stay in the room anyway. Thanks for the accommodation Hotel Söder.

The owner asked for my passport and bank card and said he will keep them in his possession until my departure from the hotel. I have never heard anything like this before. Everyone be careful. I left the place because I was not gonna hand out my documents to anyone to confiscate, and I asked for a refund. The onwer said it’s not his problem and expedia said they can’t do anything about it. So I’ve just been scammed out $91 and there’s nothing I can do about it.

I'm afraid you misunderstood what we communicated to you. Hotel staff wanted to see identification and a valid credit card. I think that's something you'd expect from most hotels. If you do not wish to present an identification document or a credit card, we will take the right to deny you access to the hotel for security reasons. Its correct the staff told you to talk to Expedia regarding refund since the reservation was made via/to them and not directly to the hotel.

Decent value for the money
The room was small and the bathroom floor was very cold but the location was perfect for a quick visit to Södermalm.

Mysigt men undermåligt
Mysigt, litet hotell en halvtrappa ned från markplan. Dessvärre gick det inte få tag på strykjärn efter kl 17, godis och chips som såldes hade passerat bäst före datum sedan flera månader tillbaka. Ventilationen var obekvämt högljudd och kunde inte justeras.

Litet hotell, lyhört då frukostmatsalen låg precis utanför dörren. Vaknade av stekos i rummet kl 6 på morgonen från fläktsystemet. Rent och fräscht. Frukost helt ok, lite sparsam mot ett större hotell med ok.

Worst check in ever.
I arrived within the time I told in advance, i.e. 18:00-20:00. Somebody at the door phone opened the entrance without checking whether I am a guest so I thought there would be somebody to check me in inside the building. However, there were nobody and I had to wonder around without knowing which room was mine! So, I went out to the door phone again to get the room number and the door codes, which was given out loud on the street through the phone. In short, bad check in, poor security. The room was tiny and miserable. Many things were broken and there was even a dead bug! Not at all like in the photos given by the hotel. The Mongolian lady who prepares the breakfast and cleans the room was very nice. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel.

Bra och mysigt litet hotell. Över förväntan!
Kan rekommendera detta boende, små rum men bor man en person så räcker det alldeles utmärkt. Fräscha rum, sköna sängar och en god frukost! Perfekt för min vistelse!

Jag hade en mycket trevlig vistelse på Hotell Söder över min födelsedag. Hotellet var mysigt och trevligt. Personalen gav mycket bra service. Den enda anmärkningen jag har var att vid bokningen önskade jag en dubbelsäng men väl på rummet i 10:an så stod det två enkelsängar. I övrigt var allt jättefint med god service och härlig hotell frukost.

Toppen 🙏
Litet, endast 12 rum, alla i bottenplan, men väldigt bra! Läget, Personalen, Renligheten, Sängarna och Frukosten, allt var toppen. Skall man leta något negativt så var det mycket trångt duschutrymme. Vi kommer gärna igen och vi vill ge hotellet våra varmaste rekommendationer.
