Nice hotel with characterPosted 27-Oct-2013
Loved the atmosphere, the style, the people, the food, the free in room dvds and music. The only bad thing for me is the absence of a gym.

Fine hotel in StockholmPosted 25-Oct-2013
My husband and I have stayed in several hotels in Stockholm, but this was the first time we have stayed at a Södermalm hotel. Hotel Rival is located just a couple of blocks from the Mariatorget tunnelbana station; it was easy to get to museums, the concert hall, and shopping spots. The hotel staff were cheerful, friendly, and very helpful. They really made our stay a pleasure. Our room (the hotel designated it a "superior room") could have been more comfortable and convenient with a couple of changes. There was a closet with room for hanging clothes, but the two drawers where one might have put underwear, socks, and other things you don't hang, were taken up by the alternative pillows and the hair dryer, etc. The hotel was generous with towels, but there was not enough towel rack space to hang up the large bath towels after they were used. A couple of knobs on the back of the bathroom door would have made it possible to hang up the terry cloth robes provided and put one on before leaving the bathroom. The window into the bathroom from the bedroom area was a mystery; why was it there? There was a chair in a corner of the room where one might sit to read, but no light for reading. There was free WiFi, a large TV screen, the possibility of watching DVDs (more than 200 available for borrowing), and a PC with a printer available on the 4th floor for the use of hotel guests. The breakfast buffet was fine, One could request some extra items like beans on toast or pancakes.

One night in StockholmPosted 10-Oct-2013
Pros: The modern design and friendly welcome
Cons: Just leep things as they are!
Location: The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the old town where there is a good deal to see and good restaurants.
On my rather late arrival I was met at the reception desk by a friendly member of staff who welcomed me and directed me to my room. The room was well appointed with everything that one comes to expect from a good class hotel, but also incuding a DVD and CD player and a resident teddy bear. The room was well desigend with modern decor. One unusual (Swedish?!) feature was a glazed panel (with a blind) between the shower cubicle and the bedroom - no doubt so yoiu could see the television from the shower! There was a minibar in the room and a beverage machine serving complimentary coffee etc on the fourth floor near the computers and printer. There was good quality, free, internet reception throughout the hotel. Breakfast was great, with the usual wide choice. Sadly it was then time to go.

Funky boutique hotel on beautiful quiet squarePosted 9-Oct-2013
Pros: atmosphere, location, quality
Wonderful location, beautiful local area, close to Metro, nice bar. Did not eat there. Quality materials abound in rooms and hotel . There can be hustle and bustle due to frequent conference/meetings schedule, so not a quiet little place but fun, interesting.

Winner for comfort!Posted 7-Oct-2013
Pros: Decoration and design was exceptional!
Cons: fitness room needed
Location: transporation is close but you are right in sofo which is full of art galleries and restaurants and walking distance to the old town.
Coming to Sweden for the first time, I felt right at home with the room, especially the beds and the breakfast! Everyone was so friendly and so accommodating. The room was very clean, neat and welcoming. I highly recommend this section of town, sofo!

Worth the extraPosted 28-Sep-2013
Pros: The rooms are extremely comfortable
Cons: Not really
Location: The old town is a few minutes walk away and has a load of good restaurants and bars.
This hotel is not the cheapest in Stockholm (not sure there is a cheap hotel in this lovely but very expensive city) but for atmosphere and comfort I don't know of a better one. Staff are always helpful and friendly, the rooms are delightful and its location means you can walk to the old town in minutes. All in all, one of my favourite hotels in the world.
