Short breakPosted 22-Apr-2014
Good location, easy walking to the main islands of Stockholm. Staff friendly and speak several languages so communication easy. Overall the hotel is well kept but a little tired looking. Breakfast included was wonderful with great range of food, if a little difficult to catch one of the hard working waitresses to place your order. The coffee and biscuits station is a great addition and very welcome after a hard day of touristing.

FUNKY HOTELPosted 15-Apr-2014
Pros: Funky boutique hotel with a personal touch. Espresso machine and tea available on each floor. Excellent breakfast.
Location: Very handy to old town via the subway- Gamla Stan/Slussen.
Wonderful friendly staff. Very close to Mariatorget Station which is only 3 stops from Central Station. Central Station is in the middle of Stockholm.

Stylish individual hotel in great locationPosted 15-Apr-2014
Pros: The very individual style, location, friendliness and efficiency. The room tariff included breakfast buffet is a great bonus.
Cons: The standard room size is quite small but compensated for by the many other positives.
Location: Located in a very nice area with access to trendy bars, restaurants and Metro. Great views of Stockholm from short elevated walk adjacent to hotel.
Great place to stay that lived up to our expectations! Our room was small but the quality of the furnishings, technology and facilities more than compensated for this. Fabulous powerful shower and very comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the free coffee stop on floor four was very useful for an early am or late pm caffeine fill. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, not least by posting my phone speedily back to the UK when I left it in the room safe! Will stay again if return to Stockholm and recommend very highly!

6 days in StockholmPosted 10-Apr-2014
Pros: Very pleasant staff, beautifully appointed rooms and fantastic food.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
Location: A very easy walk to Gamla Stan and the ferry terminal to Grona Lund.
The Hotel Rival is ideally located and is the perfect place for a stay in Stockholm. The hotel is beautifully appointed and the staff do all they can to make sure you have the perfect stay. The hotel restaurant is superb and I cannot fault the food or service. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in The Rival and I can't wait to go back.

Lovely hotel close to central StockholmPosted 19-Mar-2014
Pros: The staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms are spotless and the included breakfast is first rate with plenty of choice.
Cons: Some of the decor is beginning to look just a little tired, but is still superior to a lot of hotels.
Location: The local metro station is 3 minutes' walk from the hotel, and central Stockholm just 5 minutes' ride. There are bars and restaurants close by.
Hotel Rival is a beautiful hotel in a former cinema just minutes from central Stockholm by public transport. Stockholm is a beautiful city to walk around but it is hilly in places. Public transport is excellent and a Stockholm card covers travel by Metro (T-bana), bus, local trains and some ferries. I've visited Stockholm 4 times now and it's definitely one of my favourite cities.

Best hotel I have ever stayed in!Posted 13-Mar-2014
Pros: The busy, cool bar and the wonderful staff
Cons: The bes was a little soft for my taste
What a fabulous, welcoming hotel. The staff could not be more friendly and will do everything they can to help and guide you. The hotel itself is beautfully decorated - very cosy and comfortable but still a little bit luxe. The pillow menu is a nice touch. Shower was amazing. Location of the hotel is good - about 10 minutes walk to the Gamla Stan (Old Town). The hotel is a real "hot spot" in Stockholm so it gets busy on weekends and evenings. The hotel bar is awesome. Lots of nice little bars and restaurants nearby. It's nice to be slightly away from the touristy areas. Very easy to get to on the train from Arlanda and Central Station. Strongly recommend getting the train and not a taxi (easily £25-30 from Cental yet only 1 train stop - taxis are v expensive!!!)

Nice hotelPosted 20-Feb-2014
Stayed for one evening - late check-in/early check-out. The rooms were nice (heating was a bit too high for my comfort) and the found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again.

Stockholm hotel superb choicePosted 18-Feb-2014
Pros: Everything. Free wifi, breakfast, free tea and coffee plus staying somewhere cool and trendy
Cons: Nothing in my opinion
Location: Location is 5 mins walk off the main drag in Sodermalm and under. 2 minutes from a metro station. Plenty of restaurants and supermarkets about.
Have stayed at Rival Hotel three times in one year now. Standards remain high, exceptionally clean, modern design decor, superb breakfast and staff who are really friendly and helpful. Location is 5 mins walk off the main drag in Sodermalm and under. 2 minutes from a metro station taking you to old city in two stops, central station and the city centre in three. The Rival cafe is a cool place to hang out and get refreshed and at tonight the cool crowd arrive to use the bars and bistro. Just love the feel of the place and would return at any time.
