Property Amenities
Hellsten´s Malmgård is located at Södermalm in the heart of Stockholm, one block from the metro station Zinkensdamm without any interference from busy streets. It is also within walking distance of Old Town and many other attractions. Södermalm is one of the most popular and most exciting parts of Stockholm, where the nightlife is at its best. Near the hotel are the beautiful park down at Zinkensdamm which invites to walks along the water and the green surrondings which are peculiar to the area. Other characteristics of the district are also the variety of trendy design shops, both for interiors and apparel. Södermalm has become one of the most popular places to open restaurants and cafes, which makes Hotel Hellsten's Malmgård an optimal place to stay for food lovers. The hotel has been known as Queen Christina's Hunting Palace, but today, this mansion-like building is converted into a hotel of three star standard. The story from 1770 is in the walls. This has been strengthened and developed to the specific concepts that characterize many of Hellsten's hotels. Strong colors in the rooms' walls, furniture in typical Gustavian style, some antiques from different parts of the world and articles from exciting places spiced with unexpected details. Unique original fireplaces, some of the brand Gustafsberg, are remaining in the building. The buildings are built around around the cobblestoned yard, contributing to a cultural environment that is being experienced with graceful shivers. There is also an old chestnut tree in the yard, which was planted when the building was built 240 years ago. All this contributes to the feeling that time and the centuries stand still. The breakfast is served on the veranda or in the our garden during the summer season.

“HIDDEN GEM”
Great Hotel just a stones throw from the Tunnelbanna station (metro) The building dates from the 1700's and has lots of character, the only faults i could find was a very small wardrobe and no room safe although hotel does offer the the use of their safe. All things considered an affordable quality hotel in a great but expensive city.
“Quiet yet central”
This feels like a country house in the middle of Stockholm. Room very comfortable even if the toilet is cramped. Just around the corner from an underground station and the main street of Sodermalm
“Friendly and convenient”
The location of this hotel is excellent. It is a 4 minute walk to the Zinkensdamm metro station, from where it is three minutes to Slussen and five minutes to Gamla Stan. The hotel staff are welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. The building is, clearly, very old but has been renovated sympathetically with many of the older features being retained. Renovation of one of the wings was actually still taking place whilst we were there. Breakfast is taken in a cellar that was, at some point, a meat store as the old hooks are still in the ceiling. Wi-Fi is free, but reception in our room was patchy, meaning 3G had to be activated on a number of occasions. Our room was comfortable, but very small - as, I suspect, are most of the rooms. There was nowhere to store our case which made for a lot of "tip-toeing around". This was not a major problem for a four night stay, but I suspect it would irritate after a while. The bathroom (shower/toilet/sink) was beautifully tiled, impeccably clean, but also small. The hotel is advertised on the Expedia site as "Four Star" - it is not. It is "Three Star - Superior" and clearly says so on its front entrance. This means that, for us, there was the disappointment of no lounge area or bar where one could relax. To be honest, if this hotel were to have these facilities we would happily give it "5" for everything. However, this did not detract from a very nice stay in a wonderful city. We would happily recommend this hotel to any traveller.
“Friendly and relaxed”
I *loved* my room, which was an attic room with wooden beams and a stone floor. It was a little quirky, and that's what I look for in a hotel - that's why I don't stay in chain hotels. I found the staff (and other guests) to be friendly, and the hotel is in a really handy location for the Tunnelbana. The surrounding area is mostly residential (blocks of flats), and quite plain and utilitarian. But I felt safe walking around there on my own, and it was nice and quiet at night. The hotel's garden and terrace are pleasant enough, but to be honest they're nothing to write home about. Inside, the hotel has a lot of character, and I especially liked the basement where breakfast is served - very cosy. The hotel is very secure, and entrance to the garden and any of the buildings is by keycard.
