The First Hotel Reisen, Stockholm, offers 144 non-smoking guestrooms spread over seven floors, all of which overlook the waterfront or offer street views of the old town enhanced by reflective panels affording glimpses of the Baltic. All are defined by pastel decor, French curtains with floral patterns, framed prints, and polished wooden floors with Indian-style rugs. Furnishings include Spanish wooden desks with brass fittings, bedside tables, armchairs, coffee tables and wardrobes with louvre doors.

All rooms are equipped with cable television, wireless and high-speed Internet connections, minibars, and hardback Stockholm guidebooks. White-tiled bathrooms feature modern chrome fittings, dark-wood counters with black-marble tops, telephones, shower/tub combinations, and Molton Brown toiletries.

Reisen Restaurant – Restaurant overlooking the waterfront, decorated in black and white. The dining room features black bench seating, a contemporary bar, and a community table for those travelling alone. Serves an à la carte menu with dishes from around the world. Reisen Bar - Lounge bar featuring the original building's 18th-century brick walls and furnished with modern sofas, Persian rugs and beautiful cushions. Serves a selection of innovative cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits. Bar menu offers light meals and snacks. On Fridays and Saturdays invited DJs are playing soul, hiphop, RnB and lounge music, making it a popular site for urban youngsters.

“enjoyed our stay”

The rooms are rather small by American standards, otherwise clean and comfortable.Love the hardwood floors. No bell man service but personel at front desk was extremely helpful and very nice. Good restaurant.

“Good Location, Rooms in Decent Shape”

The location is pretty good: on Gamla Stan near bridge to Nordic Museum and Vasa Museum (scenic 15-20 minute walk), short walk to tourist area of Gamla Stan. Easy access to public transportation. Lounge/restaurant closed in afternoons, so a little bit of a pain if you want something at 3:30pm. No dedicated concierge but the front desk staff was very friendly and very helpful. Rooms were generally comfortable (a *little* aged) and may be a bit small for North American travelers. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom a little cramped but functional and clean. Price was reasonable relative to other options in Stockholm.

“Would definitely stay there again!”

The hotel was great! We loved the location. The dining area with complimentary breakfast was excellent. We also enjoyed an evening meal there as well. The staff was helpful and attentive to our needs.

“Great location, food and service”

The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The location in Gamla Stan is within walking distance to most attractions. The staff were very helpful and courteous and the hotel provides a wonderful assortment of food for breakfast.

“Itisfine”

This hotel is in a fabulous location in Gamla Stan - the old part of Stockholm and next to the Royal Palace. We could walk everywhere and the hotel overlooks the water. The hotel breakfast was extensive and delicious. The hotel staff are helpful and professional. There were a couple of drawbacks. Our room was in the back of the building, over narrow cobblestone streets. There is a lot of noise very early in the morning when the recycling trucks do pickups and rattle down those bumpy streets. This probably could be eleviated by a room at the front of the hotel. The building is not air conditioned and we hit a heat wave in Stockholm. This might be a European characteristic and not specific to this hotel. I requested a small double for my daughter and myself and the bathroom was quite small. We were fine, but I don't think my husband or son would have fit in a similar room size! Overall, I would definitely go back to this hotel, but would request a room at the front of the building.

Area recommendations

Gamla Stan, where this hotel is located, is a fabulous part of Stockholm to be in. It is characterized by small, winding streets of shops, galleries, historic landmarks, and restaurants. It is safe and lively. It is also an easy walk to other areas of Stockholm and to the ferry boats that can take you farther afield to other places. I would definitely recommend that visitors stay in this area of the city.

“Good hotel in a good location”

The hotel staff was very friendly. The room was a decent size and the bathroom was also a nice size. The breakfast buffet was great and had an amazing number of choices. The hotel is very conveniently located and there are lots of restaurant options within 5 minutes walk.

“Perfect location.”

We were on the water, two blocks from the palace and minutes walk from all else tourists wish to visit. Couldn't have been more perfect. Plus, the breakfast was wonderful.

First visit Old Town and then walk the city on your own. An enlightening experience.
