Close to ferry/shoppingPosted 11-Mar-2014
Pros: As above
Cons: The toilet had some issues but when asked for someone to look at it this was done right away and the front desk staff followed up.
Location: As previously stated close to ferry terminal, shopping, airport and lots of attractions
The hotel was within walking distance from the ferry terminal, 8 min from the airport and the shopping. It was clean, staff were very pleasant. I felt it had a sort of old world charm.

Just two blocks from down townPosted 4-Mar-2014
Pros: The food was good & he proximity of downtown.
Cons: The rooms definitely need to be upgraded. And take the frost off the windows.
The hotel is very old & antiquated. However, the staff was very accommodating & the meals were very good. Service was slow but most of the staff were very pleasant. Our room overlooked an empty lot with junk in it. The worst part was that the sliding door, which led to a very small, stand up only balcony, had frosted glass most of the way up, which prevented us from looking out. Whether that was because of the lot we faced, or some other reason, we did not like that at all. We could see the harbor by looking south but had to open the door to do it. Our door into the room was shaky at best & most of the time we had a problem opening the door. You could tell that at one time it must have been an elegant place to stay because of the large courtyards both on the 2nd & first floor. They did have secure parking as well.

Overall good experiencePosted 24-Feb-2014
Pros: Proximity to airport, town
Cons: updates needed around the hotel, including rooms. It would be nice if the bar was open earlier, too.
Location: Right in town, close to shopping, close to airport and close to ferry service to other islands. There is a daily shuttle that takes you to Magen'sBay
Stayed here for 3 nights. Right in town, across from the water, ferry service and near the airport. Rooms were fairly dated, but comfortable. The pool is nice, and the bartenders and staff are all extremely friendly and helpful.

Did not give us King bed as requested! Shut off wireless 2 hours before check out! Very dated hotel!

terrible hotelPosted 22-Feb-2014
dog outside my room barked all night. my view was, I swear, a slum. they told me to keep a metal pipe in the sliding door for safety.o ne day they failed to clean my room. 2X the shuttle failed to pick me and 4 others from the beach. We had to take a cab back. I could not get a cup of coffee in the a.m. there was no one in the dining room even though it was supposed to be open. The gift shop was never open. The plumbing in the shower was awful. There was no hot water. Hotel in general disrepair. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I feel at the least I should be apologized to and reimbursed for this dreadful experience. I did bring all of these matters to the desk several times. Nothing was done.

Needs LOTS of updating!Posted 20-Feb-2014
Pros: Nothing, except it was across the street from the ferry terminal and we had an early ferry departure.
Location: It's a 2 minute walk to the ferry, about a 10 minute walk to downtown and about 20 a minute walk to Havensight.
We did not like this hotel at all. It was dirty and out of date. Our room was on the back of the building and the sliding doors were frosted so as not to see the trash dump behind the hotel. The staff was not friendly. We requested towels, waited all afternoon and had to request them a second time and still had to wait another hour! There were no beach towels available and only 1 person was at the pool. We waited more than 1/2 an hour for a server at breakfast and never got served! Finally just walked out. We were told the bar opened at 4p, we got there at 4:45p and it still wasn't open. The bartender had a lot of attitude. The gaming center was creepy. Overall, it was terrible.

nice hotel, walk around townPosted 19-Feb-2014
Pros: In downtown area, huge interior courtyard. sliding doors open to a (tiny) balcony so you can turn off the AC and "be" outside"
Cons: During rush could be a long check in line
Very nice 6 day stay. Older hotel, but room was immaculate and comfortable. Plenty of protected free parking. On the other side of a very busy 4 lane street from the harbor, but easy to cross with convenient controlled crosswalks to stroll along the waterfront. Lots of activity in the harbor, from sea planes landing and taking off, to fabulous yachts offloading their ultra rich owners. Easy walking distance (2 minutes) to many restaurants and the shops and the historic district. Texas BBQ sets up right in front Tuesday through Saturday, and a wonderful food truck parks next door with breakfast and lunch. I must confess I was a bit nervous my first night out. It may be the U.S. Virgin Islands, but it is definitely the Caribbean. The hotel backs up to a fairly scary looking neighborhood, which extends to the west. But their is lots of foot traffic along the main road to the east to the Charlotte Amalie downtown area, at least around dinner time. Definitely try Gladys' for local fare, opens for breakfast but it is closed by five while I was there. For a easy good breakfast (didn't try their lunch) with a fabulous view of the harbor try Bumpas. Beware, downtown dinner options are limited Sunday night, especially if their are no cruise ships there. You can find cheaper hotel options if you are willing to drive or be driven every night for dinner, but I really like being where the action is, and being able to stroll home.

Comfortable hotel close to the airportPosted 19-Feb-2014
We used the hotel for one night before flying back to UK. The reception staff were very helpful as was the barmaid in the terrace bar. Our room was clean and comfortable with good views over the bay. Wifi coverage was good in the room and elsewhere. The only disappointment was breakfast with very poor service. The staff were unhelpful, slow to take our order and forgot some of the items ordered. It was clear that the other guests had the same experience. This was a pity as all other aspects of our stay were very satisfactory.

Near ferry terminalPosted 18-Feb-2014
We stayed between a flight from US and the ferry. The beds were great and the food was very good. We only had to cross the street to the ferry.
