“fantastic beach”
Everyone one was extremely pleasant and helpful. They upgraded our room to Ocean view when they found out that we had trouble with our flight in. I was originally worried about the stray cats that several other reviewers had commented on. Instead of the stray cat population that I was lead to expect, the hotel adopts neutered and vaccinated cats from the local humane society to provide a home for them. An idea that we could learn from. The hotel was very neat a clean and the beach was fantastic. We will definitely be returning!
“We can't wait to go back!!”
I was really extremely surprised and impressed with the quality and value of this resort. We had the all inclusive plan and paid nothing else extra out of pocket other than a few tips to an excellent staff. The bus help was amazing. I would come back and stay in a second. The hotel is a little older but is obviously refurbishing. It is very clean and comfortable resort. The view from our balcony was breath taking. I really appreciate everything everyone did to make our vacation wonderful.
“We will definitely be back”
We had the greatest time. It was our honeymoon so we got a free upgrade and the phone in our room didnt work so they upgraded us again. They were very helpful and even lets us call home from the lobby phone for free. The resort is beautiful and they always have something to do. The all-inclusive is the best way to go because the food and drinks are amazing and you can eat and drink whenever you want. Also they have a lot of different places to eat with different types of food. Free shuttle from the lobby to the pool and a whole lot more. I cant even think of all the great stuff they have there. We will definitely be going back.
“Will Use again.”
The special offer lured me in. We usually stay in Charlotte Amalie for two nights prior to traveling to St. John. We have begun to enjoy Red Hook and this was close to Red Hook so we thought we'd try it. The Hotel Lobby is very pretty. I didn't like that I had to wear a wrist band even though I was not on the all-inclusive program. I really don't see the point. The pool was nice, beach is okay. The stair climb from the pool up was a bit much. I don't think an elderly person could do it. The bed was a little too soft, in my opinion. The room was clean, modern, Bathroom was set up nicely with a separate sink area outside the bathroom that had toilet, sink and shower. Two people could be getting ready at same time. The bellman was very nice, and helpful.
“Waiting to Go Back”
There was entertainment every night. There Carnival review was wonderful The employees at the facility were great. The pizza made at this establishment was something I could not imagine in the Carribean- it was outstanding and I had some every night. I don't drink, but I never heard a complaint about them being watered down. The Virgin Pina Colada was my staple item. Spend the extra money and get the All-Inclusive-- you will be glad that you did
“Sugar bay review January 2012”
Despite the fact that the hotel was going through some construction in January when we were there, it was still wonderful. We did wish that there wère more options to eat but we understood that the construction was dealing with the restaraunts. The room was great and clean. The pools were very nice and well kept. The beach at the hotel is very nice with a lot of water activities to do including good snorkeling. We have been to other all inclusive resorts before and didn't like that you couldn't get meals after dinner; this was not the case here. They had food served late unto the night and had good activities. We always said that we would try new places every year, but after going here, we're already planning our trip back.
“Land of Beauty”
Only bad thing I have to say is that this resort is a little far from the airport & taxi's are too expensive to go to town so once you are here, plan on staying here. They do have a few things on the resort to do but most aren't included unless you book an all inclusive stay.
“Great place to stay”
It was a very nice hotel with a great pool!!!!! It also has the beach right by the pool which is very convient!! As well as the taxi base right beside the hotel!!
“Sugar Bay---no longer a Wyndham :(”
Staff overall was extremely friendly and welcoming. Contrary to what we read, the Ocean Club bartenders were nice. The food at both the Ocean Club and Pimentos/Turtle Rock was better than the 2 formal restaurants. Food at Baci and Manor House seemed to be more lower quality---scaled back similar to cruiseline dining. Our 15 like the soft serve ice cream. We enjoyed the fresh popcorn. We were disappointed when we first arrived (starving after a full day of travel) to Turtle Rock (right about 6pm) hoping for just a little bite to tide us over before a nice dinner---only to be told they had just stopped serving food. I did call housekeeping, probably 5 days out of 7, due to not receiving either enough towels or gel/shampoo for the 3 of us. I enjoyed working out every morning at the Journeys. Amazingly there was very little use of the workout equipment in the early morning hours. Direct TV, at the SPA, only worked the 1st and last morning---in between it was not working. I did not like the fact the workout area does not open until 8am on the weekend. Disappointed when the Zumba class (only offered Monday 6pm) was not held due to a mix up with instructors. Also was disappointed when I could not work out until 8am on my final day (Saturday), but then noticed there would be a "Fitness Walk" at 7:30am--meet at Journeys (the Spa)---but nobody showed up to lead the walk. It almost seems like someone needs to review the daily activities sheet (at the hotel) to update events properly.
“sugar bay! wonderful stay!”
it was a great hotel with alot of character! so much to do and see! its on a hill so there alot of paths! it has bumper boats, miniature golf, a fit path, all the water sports, and a wonderful pool with a waterfall. The beach was fantastic! gorgeous turquoise waters. so much to do at this resort! The food was great too, but not really much of a selection, I would see why some of the reviews said that. We only stayed 3 nights, but if we stayed a week or more we get bored of the food! But there are many restaurants close by. You have to try amigos in red hook for lunch! the best mexican food! On the third day for breakfast we found out you can order an omellette a la carte for the breakfast package at no charge, but no one told us that in the beginning! make sure you do that because the eggs are awful! It did have a pretty good breakfast spread. overall our stay was great and we would definately stay here again!
