“"Looks like a miniature Hawaii with upscale cabins"”
The best experience in nature I had was here while hiking and snorkerling. You have to snorkel a good 20 minutes to the right to get to the point and see amazing coral and fish. Saw turtle, barracuda, squid, blue tang, needlefish and jacks. This is off the beach below hotel. It is best to start hiking about 8:00AM. We got later start, but in winter it is best to return before dark, because of steep hills on roads (hairpin turns) Drivers all go slow. Rent jeep at least 3 months ahead. We did not and had to take a larger Liberty Jeep. Waterlemon Cay was the next best snorkel spot. Leinstar Bay okay, but had to go far there, too. Saw a few pelicans, but not many other birds. Goats are frequently seen on side of road and donkeys. It is too bad Cinnamon Bay lost so much beach due to erosion. We stayed there 6 years ago, so I am glad I chose the east side of St. John this time.
“Incredible Experience”
When you stay at Concordia Eco Tents, you are camping in a National Park perched on Ram's Head. The raw natural beauty envelops and transforms you. I recommend Concordia for couples who know each other and can work with one another. This is an experiment in a communal, sustainable, eco-friendly vacation. Unless you like cold showers, wait until the evening to shower. The compost toilets are less than pleasant, but a little inconvenience over all. We loved our stay at Concordia Eco Tents. We can't wait to return.
“Great Place to Stay”
The Eco-Tents were great. We especially loved the ones closest to the shoeline edge. That tent had great view and was breezy. The decks and sleeping lofts were really nice. The Tent further in was nice but it did get warm. The small fans helped. Do bring bug spray! The overall area was beautiful with great swimming, snorkeling and hiking! It is far from Cruz Bay so you would want to get a car. We didn't and did take the bus into town for $1.00 per person! The buses run on a funny schedule and only every 2 hours so plan your trip into town. All and all we had a GREAT time and I would do it again!
“The perfect base for St. John”
We would love to return! We found this the perfect base for really exploring St. John. Salt Pond Bay, right next door, was our favorite snorkeling. Good trail hiking to Ram's head. Coral Bay restaurants/nightlife were excellent. Recommend asking for an Eco-Tent away from the western edge - ours was very windy and exposed. Follow simple rules and your stay will be comfortable: Make sure to keep your tent clean - crumbs attract critters; take showers in the afternoon (warmed water!); carry a flashlight at all times; rent a Jeep; and do not drive across the island at night. Plan your dining at the many restaurants in Coral Bay and skip the Concordia restaurant. Enjoy the beautiful stars, the quiet, the views, the birds, the geckos, and all the wonderful sea life!
“The most peaceful place on St John”
Concordia, Both the Studios (they are not tents ) and the Eco tents were more then we expected, peaceful ,with views that would take your breath away. If you are looking for someplace to get away to unwind , this is the place for you. Not a place for nightlife and bars more like a retreat. Their restaurant is a cut above anything in Coral Bay.
“Just Loved It!”
We really enjoyed our stay at the Concordia Eco-Tents. We stayed in E-8 and had a fabulous view of the ocean and surrounding area. We also had a great breeze at all times to keep it cool and blow the bugs away. The tents are very comfortable and the solitude and quiet with no TVs or phones was just what we needed. Although the tents have lights and a refrigerator, you may want to pack a car charger for any electronics - cell phone, computer, etc. Then again, you may want to just keep them turned off.
“definitely going back”
I have only 2 words : Absolutely fantastic
“Eco-Friendly in Paradise!!!”
We absolutely loved the Concordia Eco-Tents! Everything about the place was really great. It was secluded, had breathtaking views and was close to beaches, local shops and a market. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially with advice on the places to eat and visit while we were in the Virgin Islands. Each "tent" had it's own kitchen, shower, and self-composting toilet so you could still live simply but have some of the luxuries of staying at a hotel or villa. I was worried beforehand about the heat since there was no air conditioning, but there was a constant breeze from the ocean so the temperature was always perfect in our unit. If you like camping but still want some of the comforts of home and can live minimally, this is the place for you. We will be repeat customers for sure!!!!
“absolutely wonderful”
The "tents" are large with 2 twin beds in the bedroom, 2 twin beds in the loft and queen futon in the sitting area. We loved the porch for dining. The views are worth a million. Breeze kept us confortable and there were no bugs. The solar power really works for the frig and lights, there is gas stive and all the dishes/pots. Nice pool and store, trendy cafe. 15 min hike to a beautiful sandy cove for great snorkeling and beach time, ruins on the way. Other trails nearby. Great way to stay fit going up and down the stairs to the car. The most amazing stars at night due to lack of light polution. Truly restful nature experience.
“Canvas Condo!!! Awesome view!!!!”
It was not a luxurious hotel... It was a canvas wrapped structure ... And it was WONDERFUL!!!!!! St. John is very beautiful.... and our view was amazing... Bring a flashlight, don't use the grill, bring sneakers for hiking, and get in shape before you go.... lots of steep steps. We stayed 2 weeks and I am ready to go back....
