“Pretty good”
for such a price it's a good quality and good hotel. location looks not so convenient, but it takes 7-10 mins walk to the metro and 10-15 mins to reach the centre. plus you can check other St.Pete by living in this hotel.
“Amazing”
I had the time of my life in St Petersburg. Only slept, had breakfast and few drinks in the bar at the hotel, but it was always very clean and friendly atmosphere... I wont stay anywhere else when i visit again. Good value and location.
“j'y retourne chaque fois..”

“Value for money comparing to other St-Pete hotels”
Hotel was built in communist era(early 70s). Unremarkable concrete block of 18 floors. Slightly renovated after being Hotel Sovietskaya. From the restaurant on 18th floor the view to the city is fabulous. Service is better then it used to be 10 years ago, but do not expect 5* reception. Rooms are clean, bath and WC is OK. Located rather far from center and 15 min. walk to metro. Taxi drivers near the hotel are swindlers, they triple the price usually. In general hotel is suitable for tourist trip if you are not ready to invest a lot and ready to walk around the city with the map.
“Good choice based on price, location”
I spent two nights and consider this a good choice for the location and price (close to the malishky theatre). The rooms are half decent considering some of the grubby corridors. The only negative point is no air conditioning in the room (mostiquotos are a pain in the butt, when opening the windows)
“Water stinks at the hotel”
It's an old soviet hotel with everything saved since Soviet times. Linens and blankets look like they are more than 50 years old. There is no fridge in the room. But the worst thing about the stay is the tap water. It's yellowish and stinks. If you turn the tap water on and stand next to the sink without leaning, you can smell how badly the water stinks. It's impossible to brush teeth or take a shower in such water. I guess, it's the problem with pipes, they are old, rusty and haven't been cleaned in a long while. Not sure if it's just a problem of the hotel or St. Petersburg in general. A good thing about the hotel was it's location (20 minute walk from subway) and free wifi. Surprisingly for Russia, it worked fine. I would recommend calling the hotel directly next time and finding out if their tap water is good. If the same - stay in a different area of St. Petersburg.
“Very basic but affordable”
Small rooms and hotel foye turned into one big eating joint with food smells everywhere. Pricewise though it is very affordable particullarly if you compare with other hotels in St.Petersburg during peak tourist season.
“Hotel is moderate price and has mixed amenities”
1) Nearest metro station about 1 kilometre. Takes ten to 15 minutes walk. 2) Long distance from my room to reception (about 100 metres or more.) 2) Terrible background music in lobby and restaurants, which repeated identically every one or two hours for the whole weeks. 3) Terrible phone charge system. Not told on arrival that a phone charge deposit was required. Had to walk all the way back and forth to reception several times during the week o renew phone call deposit. Phone was cut off during week at inconvenient times. They need to change the system. Some Soviet management ideas are still in use in this hotel. The telephone is a necessity when n travel, not a luxury. I recommend getting a working mobile (cell) phone for use in Russia. My mobile(cell) was expensive to use but invaluable sometimes. Had wired phones are disappearing in Russia and hard to find in most towns. 4)Free wi-fi system provided in hotel lobby and in some hotel room and restaurants. System is good but slow. Had to use lobby for we-fi and to use noise suppression headphones to blank out annoying background music 5)Hotel reception staff are all young men and women. Some are friendly and professional. A few are not so friendly and have Soviet style ideas of service.
