KONK Club (Kids Only, No Kidding!)
TradeWinds Island Resorts offers the KONK Club—a fully supervised kids' program, open to children ages 4 – 11 (surcharges apply). Club activities include crafts, games, and activities relating to the theme of the day. The club also features Captain RedBeard, a “pirate” who provides tall tales and robust songs—there's also a family-friendly pirate flick which families are invited to see at the “dive-in” movies. The TradeWinds Action Zone (T.A.Z.) team offers poolside bingo, glow-in-the-dark volleyball, and a sand-sculpting contest. Swimming lessons are also available, as are “Beaker Tuck-Ins.” Beaker the toucan will arrive to tuck children into bed and present them with a keepsake Beaker toy.
Most events are located at Island Grand. Pre-registration is required; space is limited. All children must be completely potty trained.

The Tradewinds Island Resort offers 585 guestrooms and suites decorated with tropical colors. All accommodations include custom made dark wood furnishings and decor, new flat screen HD TVs, pillow top beds, new lighting, bed linens and travertine flooring. Guestrooms have wet bars, and suites feature kitchens equipped with compact refrigerators, microwaves, toasters, sinks, and place settings for four. Bathrooms have granite-topped counters; other amenities include desks and complimentary wireless Internet access. Some suites have balconies.
Dining
Flying Bridge - Set above the resort's meandering canal, this authentic floating Florida cracker cottage is open for lunch and dinner, serving snacks, salads, burgers, grouper, chicken sandwiches, and tropical drinks.
Awakenings Coffee and Spirits Bar - Located in the main garden atrium, this bar is surrounded by two rows of 23-foot palm trees. Coffee drinks are available in the morning; cocktails, cordials, wines, and spirited coffee drinks in the afternoon and evening.
Bermudas - Overlooking the beach, this restaurant with whitewashed woodwork and white napery offers aged Angus beef, fresh Gulf seafood, and shellfish. Open for breakfast buffet (seasonally) and à la carte menu, as well as dinner. Children's menu available.
Palm Court Italian Grill - Culinary hideaway serving fare that spans all of the regions of Italy, from rustic cuisine to creamy pastas and fresh seafood. A large selection of fine Italian wines. Dine indoors or under the stars on the courtyard patio. Mimosa Sunday brunch. Open for lunch and dinner.
Beef ‘O' Brady's - Family-friendly pub offering food and sports. Offering appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Open for lunch and dinner.
Recreation
Located on a 7-mile stretch of white-sand beach, this St. Pete Beach, Florida resort has 5 pools: 1 covered, 2 family pools, 1 adults-only pool, and a children's pool with wading area.
TradeWinds Island Grand also has Har-Tru tennis courts, a playground, a children's club called Kids Only No Kidding (surcharge), hammocks, a pool table, and life-size lawn chess set. The TradeWinds Action Zone (T.A.Z.) offers a variety of daily activities for adults (surcharge). The resort's fitness center has treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, recumbent and upright bikes, cable crossover machines, a Nautilus circuit, free weights, and Body Master equipment (surcharge). Guests can explore the resort's meandering canal on paddleboats.
Parasailing, sunset sails, water skiing, wave runners, and other water-sports options are available beachside (surcharge).

“Wonderful Overall Experience”
GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! This was a last minute honeymoon (on a budget!!) and we were SO THRILLED we decided to do it! Everything was wonderful, the location, the beach, the restaurants/bars, EVERYTHING! The beach cabanas were the best! Sunsets were amazing! Probably the best part was the staff. From the moment we arrived everyone was beyond friendly and willing to help. Seriously, one of the best vacations of my life. I would reccomend this for families, groups of friends, couples, EVERYONE! : ) There is something different for everyone. My husband and I will def go back here in years to come!!!

Recently stayed here for a week in March 2012 with a family of 4 (mom, dad, 2 kids) and had a fabulous time. The weather was certainly a factor, as it was gorgeous the entire time. We loved this resort, It provided everything we needed for our family. Had a std hotel room, wish we would have sprung for the upgrade for a room with a view/balcony, but not that big of a deal because we were hardly in the room. Liked the little fridge, microwave, toaster in the room and made good use of the them. Kids loved the pool and could hardly be dragged away from it. Movie night at the pool in the evening was a pleasant surprise for them. Proximity to the beach was great, so we went back and forth between the pool and the beach cabana as we felt like it. Kids liked the paddleboats and mini golf too. We liked the various options for dining at the hotel, and poolside drink service. Nice to have so many beach amenities available to us if we wanted to use them (water slide, water floating park) though they don't come cheap. We loved the hotel proximity to grocery store, Fort DeSoto Park, other restaurants. We had a wonderful stay and definitely recommend this hotel!
“Spring Break 2012 w/ family”
We stayed over Spring Break, 2012. Even though the resort was busy, we never had to wait long for anything, got beach and pool chairs easily, etc. Great amenities, helpful staff, wonderful place to stay. Definitely a thumbs up for families. Only minor disappointments were that the elevators were SLOOOW (we were only on the 3rd floor so usually just ended up taking the stairs), room (tropical suite) was smaller than expected (but acceptable), and the kids' club activities were kind of lame. My 10-yr old son was really too old for any of it, it seemed. Our 5 and 6 year old enjoyed, but really for only about 10 minutes. But really, there was so much to do otherwise, that we didn't really need the kids' club. Overall, this resort is a definite winner. You will not be disappointed!
