“Good staff and fantastic location.”
Right across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches I've been to! The staff was very helpful and courteous. The room was large and well equipped with a kitchenette and two beds. The TV was pretty bad but I didn't go to Clearwater Beach to watch the tube so that's not a big deal. Good Internet wireless service so I was all set. "Continental breakfast" was just toast and instant oatmeal. No eggs...no milk for coffee. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance so this wasn't a big deal but the hotel could invest just a little bit more and provide a far better breakfast experience. Overall I was pleased with my stay and I would not hesitate to stay there again.
“Leave the loofah at home, ladies!”
The hotel is not without positive features; it is in a great location-just across the street from the beautiful Clearwater Beach- and in very close proximity to shopping and dining, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, little is being done to improve the condition of the buidling. The decor is dated, the bathroom walls were in dire need of repair, and I had to get in the tub and use both hands to get the water turned on! You'll have no need for loofahs or pumice stones, as the towels are akin to sandpaper! The elevator needs a thorough scrubbing-we opted for the stairs to avoid it. The pool, however, was clean and quite nice. The beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast was minimal and has lots of room for improvement. But if you're satisfied with toast, instant oatmeal and snack cakes-you'll be happy! All in all, it's not horrible, I'd stay there again if the price was right. If you go, treat yourself to dining at Frenchy's (just down the street)-they've got great food!
“Cheap BEACH HOTEL”
Thin walls Soft beds HOT WATER Great Location OLD Motel
“Reasonable and descent location”
The location is great if you're looking to stay at a place close to the beach but not pay beachfront prices. My 8 yr & 11 yr and I were able to walk to the beach with no trouble. The Aquarium is close by if you want to visit Winter from the movie A Dolphin Tale. Its a neat place and offers a boat ride that the kids seemed to really enjoy as well as the adults. You can purchase discounted tickets for both in advance at the hotel. Also recommend checking out the NEW Surf Side store just down the road - they offer indoor surfing! My daughter LOVED IT! The breakfast is simple, dont expect much. The beds are not very comfortable and could be replaced. The pool was nice, I didn't see a hot tub. Each of the front desk attendants were friendly and helpful.
“Disappointed in the room and breakfast”
The location is perfect and the pool is great. However, the rooms need to be updated! The beds are very hard and the bathroom fixtures are old and worn out as well as the flooring in the whole room. I was also disappointed in the breakfast. There was no fruit or hot items at all. Only packaged pop tarts, doughnuts, debbie cakes.
“Gave Magnuson a Try”
Overall, stay was ok. Had an economy room. Though spacious, was kind of awkward. Ice machine was right at my door. The temperature was fine however it had a 1980.s thermostat. Staff was so friendly, quick, and honest. Security was serious. I liked that, Since it was spring break. At 11pm, the hotel was pretty much quiet. Went out with my daughters and security questioned us to check to see if we were starting there. Would recommend if you are not picky-picky. Definitely not a 5-star so don't expect 5-star. Closer to a 2.95. A major renovation overhaul would make this hotel more lovely. Recommended for the 20 something traveler or a beach lover who doesn't really care about star ratings.
“March Break 2012”
Hotel location perfect, very close to beautiful beach!!.. a little dated but clean--good value for money paid. Breakfast convenient--toast,coffee, OJ and some packaged pastries...not really a full bkfast but nice offer. Overall good and we would stay again althoug during spring break-a little loud/rowdy with young crowd
“Clean and easy room close to the beach”
Solid stay. The hotel is across the street from the beach, rooms are large and clean though outdated, small kitchenette came in handy, spend a few extra bucks for the gulf front room and you'll get a view of the gulf, beach, and passersby on Beach Walk. Loved that parking was free and only steps from the room, I am tired of paying $20+ a day for parking then having to wait 30 minutes for valet. Post Corner Pizza is next door and good. This is a great place to stay if you are not planning on spending a ton of time in the room. Very close to beach and everything to do on the beach. Excellent value and I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to save a few bucks and have a convenient if no frills stay on the beach.
“Not Impressed”
Not impressed at all......the hotel looks nothing like its web site it was so misleading , the place is totally run down my room was so out dated looking. The carpet was discusting very old dark color carpet but made you think of mildew the TV very old if you turned up the volume to high the sound was all distorted .....The .towels were like sand paper and the toilet seat needed to be changed everything very old...Upon arrival the gentleman who checked us in did not make you feel welcome at all he rushed us in and out I could hardly ask a question not a good impression . Parking has no security .Bottom line the hotel is rundown , website very misleading nothing you see on it is what you get and the price for the room was to high, if the rate per night was much lower then you wouldnt feel so bad but for the money it was not worth it.....Only good part of the whole weekend was location it is situated in a great place and for that alone one would think they would update their hotel....Will not go back there and would never recommend it to someone .
