Weekend

Breakfast could have been better. Sour milk & waffles didn't taste right. Orange juice warm.

friendly service

Posted 5-Apr-2014
Pros: room clean and breakfast service good.
Cons: maybe use a deodorizer in the room, had a bit of a musty smell.
friendly desk at check-in. hotel nice and clean. breakfast was what you can expect of the normal free breakfasts. helps you through your day. pool was good temp, hot tub clean and nice and warm. i was not a poolside room, but could hear the kids quite loudly through my room air vent. weird how that sound travels, but it did. it wasn't terrible and i have kids so i know they scream and fool around in a pool... pool closes promptly at 10, so thank you for that. :)

Middle of Nowhere

Posted 24-Mar-2014
Pros: Staff was friendly, but not very knowledgeable about the area or good at problem-solving.
Cons: Close it down or charge less than half the rates. The hotel's location is unforgivable.
Location: Middle of nowhere. In the middle of an industrial zone. Nothing to do, see, or eat. It totally ruins the whole St. Paul charm.
Terrible Location: Middle of nowhere, hotel shuttle only operates only M-F. If you want to go anywhere, even to just walk around to buy a newspaper or check out the neighborhood, you are out of luck! This hotel property is in the middle of an industrial park: no houses, no stores, no nothing. Rundown Hotel Gets "Facelift": Looks cute with all the remodeling work that's been done to it, but it is mainly cosmetic; it has so many many many defects left untouched. Weird layout as a result of this fake remodel: our room had 2 mini-fridges (double the noise) and AC/heating vent super noisy and impossible to get the right temp. Breakfast: Mediocre (just your ordinary pre-fab foods). Overall, one of the most disappointing hospitality experiences in my life (and I've traveled in many Third World countries).

Converted train station hotel

Posted 21-Mar-2014
Cons: When the air vent came on, it started really quite and then got louder and louder. It sounded like a train coming to get me.
The building was lovely! There were some renovations going on, but they did a nice job combining the classic elements or architecture with modern conveniences.

Close to the Xcel Energy Center

Posted 13-Feb-2014
Overall building was unique and fun to look at. The room itself was fine and comforting, though it did still smell of stale smoke and had a fan in the ceiling that kept making noise while trying to sleep, but we made do. We were pleased with the staff and friendliness and the overall uniqueness of the hotel. Some remodeling was going on as well, so we understood.

New ababy

Posted 9-Jan-2014
Pros: location, location, location
Cons: The pillows were small. Do you have any regular sized pillows?
Location: Perfect for us
We stayed there while our new grandchild was being born. Everything was very convenient for us there.

Very interesting theme, if you're someone who likes the railroad, you will probably get a kick out of it.
