GREAT HOTEL

Posted 21-Jan-2015
Pros: Clean comfortable well supplied. Good parking at least for my unit B275. Staff was very attentive and helpful.
Cons: WIFI, Garbage truck backup beepers.
Location: Access to the airport is great. I thought that Burger King would have good WIFI but they don't.
It is a good hotel and amongst the best that I have stayed at in Phillipsburg, St Marten. My room was clean comfortable and well supplied. The WIFI is next to unusable. They should be able to do better. My room was near the garbage dumpster and that did not present a problem except for the fact that the garbage trucks arrive in the wee hours of the morning to do their pickup. The trucks and drivers were quiet but the backup beepers on the trucks were annoying. There was a dog either from the neighborhood or owned by a guest that barked for a bit of time. Maybe it was trying to get at the garbage. A local rooster said it was time to get up and get going but this was not a problem.

Beautifully appointed rooms and nice beach on site

Posted 8-Jan-2015
Pros: Room was not completely cleaned when we checked in. There were long hairs in the shower and on the floor of the room.
Cons: Housekeeping attention to detail.
Location: Full service dive shop and marina on site. Walk to several nice beaches and lots of restaurants. Go snorkeling...
Nice views of ocean and sunsets. Walk to beaches and an excellent variety of restaurants.

Large hotel with comprehensive range of services

Posted 7-Jan-2015
Pros: The staff was very helpful whether at the check-in, when booking excursions and water sports or, in general, to provide information.
Cons: The tiresome practice imported by Europeans to "reserve" chairs at the beach should be fought and a maximum time for not occupying chairs, enforced.
Location: Several restaurants walking distance from resort offer good dining options. Beach is smaller but very nice. Like the hotel shuttle to Philippsburgh.
We were looking for a hotel that was moderately priced, on the beach (or easy access) and with a comprehensive range of amenities for our two boys: tennis courts, swimming pools, water sports, etc. We also wanted a room with a well equipped and modern kitchen to have at least breakfast and, at times, quick and easy dinner. We were very pleased to see that the hotel fully met all our requirements. We liked the possibility to rent a car on the premises without doing it ahead of time or at the airport on arrival. The hotel also includes a small grocery store, useful to stock basic items for the kitchen (we liked the fresh baguette and croissants). The hotel includes a number of restaurants priced at different levels and with special offerings for those who want to eat on-site. Though some reviews mention the need to walk a lot within the resort, we found that at most we needed to walk 5 mins from where we were (the building furthest away) to anywhere in the resort. One recommendation is to give more information about specific buildings in the resort where a room is located. This is a vast resort with several buildings, some new, some old and the quality of the rooms may be uneven depending where one is. At the time of the booking, it may be important to verify where a room is.

Nice room but facing the laundry

Posted 5-Jan-2015
Pros: pools and ocean
Cons: easier access around the resort
Location: location of the resort is good. Close to everything
The resort is huge with loads of pools and a really nice beach area. We checked in for our last night in St. Maarten before heading back to the US. Our room was very tastefully decorated and clean, but we faced a laundry room and I was expecting a sea view. It was a long walk to the beach too.It was OK for a one night stay, but if we had been there for a week or two I would have been very upset as the room location was bad. Our friends who were traveling with us were in an equally bad location. I suppose if you want to stay at this hotel you have to insist on an ocean front room and pay extra.

Very disappointing

Posted 5-Jan-2015
This hotel needs to decide if it's a hotel or a time share. So many problems and I only was there for 4 days. The only redeeming thing was the fabulous food at Bon Appetite.

Nice hotel. Room was phenomenal.

Posted 4-Jan-2015
Pros: The room was great. Room for at least 6.
Cons: Towels and face cloths were hard to come by after the first day.
Location: Great location. Walking distance to many restaurants.
I would definitely return. The room was great and the location was near many restaurants.

Mostly a very nice hotel, terrible management

Posted 30-Dec-2014
Pros: Great beach and many rooms have great view. Good access to main street with many good restaurants
Cons: Management
Location: Central to busy street which is good. Not too close for noise. Lots of water activities right at the dock on premises.
Via e-mail, checked and was told we had a nice room with balcony on lower level (I have bad knees) looking over the water. On arrival, they had us way up the hill in room looking at back of another building. Complained for some fifteen minutes and then finally put us where they originally said they would. BUT had to change rooms for last two nights. Tried to change us to room without balcony and no view. Complained to general manager who said he changed it to one two doors away same kind of room. Get there and it has no balcony. Lower level staff are great, but front desk and general manager are terrible. Spoke to folks on beach who agreed and had same problem. Moved three times in a day to get problem fixed.
