“Jewel in St. Martin”
Wonderful five star place to stay. The hotel, 2 pools and beach are beautiful and the rooms are wonderful with big bathrooms. Excellent service in all aspects, food was also excellent. The pictures do the place no justice, looks better than the pictures. Flat screen tv's, dvd's and all of the perks. There doesn't appear to be anywhere on St. Martin this nice. That said there isn't anywhere on St. Martin as expensive. Be ready to open your wallet. A soft drink is $6.00 and that inflation carries over to everything else you have to buy. Room rate however did include a very nice breakfast. Rent a car if you want to explore the island but this hotel would be a great place to hang if you don't.
“Wonderful Honeymoon!”
My husband and I just got back from a very relaxing honeymoon at La Sammana. The hotel is beautiful and very romantic. You must try the beach cabana rental at least once - worth enjoying the day on the beach (bottle of champagne included) but without baking in the Caribbean sun! We enjoyed the continental breakfast on the terrace, lunch by the pool and beach bar/cafe. You absolutely must spend some time at the pool bar with one of the island's signature drinks the "pain killer" (rum based and very tasty), the bar has the most interesting decor and overlooks the pool and out to the ocean. A must is the main dining room for dinner (request an outside table) - ask for the custom wine selection and share all the courses with each wine! We took brief trips into Marigot and Phillipsburg for souvenirs but were not overly impressed - I guess nothing beats the relaxed feeling of La Samanna! A quick note on other reviews on 5 star service: we certainly agree that La Samanna teeters between a 4 and 5 star hotel but if it's reviewed as the best hotel on the island it is certainly worth it - it's not Paris or New York City...it's the islands and we highly recommend it - enjoy!
“Worth it ! I plan on returning.”
Clean and pleasant private beach and customer services is what surrounds you when you stay at this Hotel. Pricey meals except for Breakfast which was inclusive to the cost of the stay. Located minutes from other popular beaches and resturants. SPA treatment was treat.
“Leisure at its finest”
Great! a little over priced but well worth it.
“La Samana”
La Samana is the epitome of paradise. The grounds are gorgeous, the private beach is beautiful, the pools are relaxing, and the service is great. We had a very small flood over night which is the only reason I gave maintenance a 4 instead of 5. However, as soon as we told the management, we were moved to a grand suite immediately. The breakfast is delicious and the restaurant setting is beautiful as it looks over the private each. Although one of the more expensive hotels on St. Martin, it is well worth the extra cost. Price includes breakfast, snorkeling, kayaking, and other great amenities. There is really no reason to leave the hotel except to eat out (the hotel restaurant is incredibly expensive for dinner). I prefer to stay at this hotel 4 nights, rather than somewhere cheaper for 7. You will not regret spending a little extra money!
“Outstanding!”
The hotel is placed in the best beach of the island. The view is breathtaking. It is a real paradise. The staff is very friendly. Special appreciation to Isabel (front desk) and Muriel (concierge) who makes the difference..
“La Samanna... paradise in St-mArtin”
I have stayed in many different resorts (well over 10 in the Caribbeans) and I can say, without hesitation, that La Samanna is one of the best resort out there! The service was superb; the staff is extremely attentive! I stopped by every day to ask for help from the concierge (thanks Roberta!), and every time I was received with a smile. Courteous, friendly, helpful, are only a few words that described my experience! The restaurant and the selection was excellent. I met the chef while entering the restaurant and he offered to prepare any thing I would like! I was craving steak that night and he prepared it with a piece of "foie gras"... simply excellent! The beach staff was always very attentive! Food service was surprisely quick... The staff made sure that we had everything we needed to be comfortable... beach towels, cold water was always available and quickly delivered... Overall, a fabulous stay.... I strongly recommend this resort
“1st trip to the islands and have nothing to compare it to- not sure if I will go back”
Beach front room with patio was the high point of our stay- we opened up the screened windows and door and listened to the waves roll in all night. Romantic and beautiful! Service was inconsistent- 1 example: after waiting for our lunch to be served for 1 1/2 hours, we realized that it wasn't just slow- they had forgotten us. While the pools are open until 10:30 pm, the attendant covers all the lounge chairs, closes the umbrellas, and takes away the towels at around 5:30 pm. Beach erosion causes a sharp 9-10' sand bank down to the water. To swim, you can slide down the bank but getting back up is very difficult- not good for small children, handicapped, pregnant women, or average me. There is only 1 restaurant serving dinner. The menu is very limited with over-the-top prices, delicious and well prepared, however. Think twice if you are feeding teens!
“Heaven on Earth”
This Hotel was nearly perfect. Beautifully located, right on Long Beach, which as the name suggests a long white sand beach and beautiful bay. Exceptionally clean Hotel, both bedrooms and communal areas, bars, Restaurants, Pools etc. Taxi's into Marigot, nearest town, are about $20 one way, to give you some idea. If I had any complaint it was that the Restaurant food wasnt that good. Having come from St. Barts where we were spoilt by wonderful food every night, this was very average. Dont be put off though, it was certainly platable. If you're going to stay at La Samma I am very envious, just wish I was there for longer!
“Hotel was BEAUTIFUL but will not go back.”
We had spent nearly 100 dollars per day in taxi fares. This hotel is off the beaten path and near nothing except Maho. It is however one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever had the pleasure of viewing!! Prior to our arrival we had requested early check-in only to be told that they were still in the process of cleaning our room. I nor my wife were particularly happy with the response from the manager. He did provide us with a complimentary lunch for the inconvenience. All in all a BEAUTIFUL hotel but not really near anything that we wanted to do or see. We had spent our days on Orient Beach and LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. If you go to St. Martin you must visit Orient Beach
