Guests at Esmeralda Resort may charge meals to their rooms at the five casual, open-air restaurant/bars lining Orient Beach. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in and around the lobby area as well as an Internet point. Orient Bay Village 1 km (0.5 mi) away includes a shopping center and grocery store. The resort's staff speaks English, and U.S. currency is accepted.

This St Maarten resort offers 65 guestrooms in 18 one-story, pastel-colored villas with light-green, corrugated-steel roofs arrayed on a low, gentle slope. Each villa at Esmeralda Resort contains three to five rooms and has its own swimming pool measuring approximately 10.75 by 4.5 meters (35 by 15 ft) with jetted section. The pools are surrounded by garden-shielded sundecks furnished with lounge chairs and umbrellas. Guests walk from their rooms' furnished patios to the pools.
Rooms include kitchenettes with microwaves, compact refrigerators, and coffee pots. Ceiling fans under peaked wood ceilings supplement air conditioning. White walls and ceilings, terra-cotta-tile floors, and bright fabrics create a tropically informal ambience. Televisions offer U.S./international cable channels. VCRs can be rented.
Recently completed renovations include new mattresses, curtains, and flat-screen TVs in all Deluxe room and Suite categories.

Dining
L'Astrolabe - Fine-dining restaurant/bar with its own swimming pool (largely used by children while parents breakfast). Open-air dining room and covered wood deck. Bar open early morning to late night. À la carte service. American breakfasts. French/Creole dinner choices. Closed Wednesdays.
Coco Beach - Relaxed beachside restaurant that serves Creole and European specialties amid a Caribbean atmosphere.
Five other restaurants, each with their own theme and menu, are available for beachside dining.
Recreation
A 109-m (100-yd) paving-stone path leads from the resort past a mound of boulders to the north end of breezy 2-km (1.25-mi) Orient Beach on the Atlantic Ocean. A popular beach—often called the St. Tropez of the Caribbean—features open-air restaurants, a nude-sunbathing section on the south end, and vendors offering water sports such as windsurfing, personal watercraft, and parasailing.
Resort guests are provided complimentary cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas by an independently operated restaurant/bar. The resort supplies complimentary snorkeling gear.
Each of the resort's 3– to 5–room villas has its own swimming pool measuring approximately 10.75m by 4.5m (35 by 15 ft). Pools contain jetted sections and are surrounded by garden-shielded sundecks furnished with lounge chairs and umbrellas.
Use of two lighted tennis courts is complimentary. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the resort; fees may apply.

“Wonderful”
Just got back 1-12-08 had a great time.Just can't say enough about Saint Martin.Had a wonderful stay at Esmeralda Resort. we have stayed at Esmeralda 5 times all have been great.Love coco beach everyone is very friendly.Been gojng to Saint Martin for 8 years cant wait to go back

This was our second trip to the Esmeralda. We enjoyed the resort and going to Grand Case for dinners.
“4th time here”
After staying at the Esmeralda 4 times I can't believe the negative comments I have read on this review site. My wife & I both love this place. We are not 5 star hotel nuts, so this relaxed atmoshpere suits us just fine. We both agree that not a lot of time is spent in our rooms, so what this hotel has to offer is just great with us. We just spent Nov. 8-15 there, the weather was tremendous, as was the food and the shopping. I must say that on our 1st trip it took us 15-20 seconds to get used to the clothing optional attitude of the beach & pool areas, but it's really no big deal. The rest. at the hotel is great as are the beach restaraunts. Daily I went to Tap-5, a little shop down the beach, to get breakfast that we ate on our deck. That's what a good vacation is all about, relaxing & enjoying yourself. When choosing a hotel on St. Martin, look at the big picture. Your in Paridise. We'll be back in 2 years to stay once again at the Esmeralda.
“Consistent Esmeralda”
Nice rooms are all on one level with great proximity to Coco Beach on Orient Bay. The beach chairs and umbrellas are free when you stay at Esmeralda Resort. You can also bill everything at this restaurant and others on Orient Bay to the resort. The restaurant at Coco is awesome with gormet French food..never had a bad meal. I've been to Esmeralda and Coco many times. Always loved it! The beach is one of the best in the Carribean.
“Enchanting”
The room, the pool, the pleasant walk to the beach and the accommodating staff make The Esmeralda a relaxed vacation. We look forward to it every year.
“Better than Nice”
My wife and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was just as shown on Expedia and the positive reviews we had read were accurate. If you want to stay on the less developed, less hectic French side, we would recommend this hotel. Be advised that this hotel is on Orient Beach, next to the naturist resort, so if you are bothered by topless sunbathing you should go somewhere else. The staff was excellent and friendly and all spoke English as well as French, although I was hoping to be forced to speak French. The only complaint we had was there was no spigot or ability to wash off our feet outside our bungalo - but hey, it's Carribbean France. If you are expecting a supermodern resort with US type amenities, stay on the Dutch side, with the Burger King and the traffic. Esmeralda was wonderful, relaxed, charming. We even cooked some meals in our room at our kitchenette and saved hundreds of dollars, as every dinner out in St Martin is expensive.
“Hope to Celebrate our next 20th at the Esmeralda”
We returned to St.Martin after 20 years to celebrate our anniversary, a very special event. We were not disappointed, the people were very hospitable and friendly, the beach was a short walk from our villa accomodation, we had a terrific experience with the Esmeralda.
“Great Vacation”
Cant say enough about the location and service. Stayed for 5 nights in July and ready to go back. Rooms are roomy and spacious. Beach is fantastic with clothing optional area that was awesome.

“Relaxation at SXM Esmeralda”
This is the third time that we've stayed at Esmeralda and it was another great visit! The staff at the front desk was very cheerful and helpful. The room was always very clean. The only negative comment that I could give was that the beach boy wasn't the most accomodating or attentative. Other than that - no complaints!!
