Clean, big, comfortable room. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Spectacular view on the harbor side of the hotel (not so great on the parking lot side). On signal hill but 4k to Delta / convention center and George street.

I was in town on business and decided to book myself an extra night to see some more of St. John's. I was unable to stay at at the hotel I was in for the conference, I googled around and trying to be frugal I stayed at the Battery. I was a little worried as the room was less than half what my room at the delta cost. Arriving at the Battery, the lobby was about what I expected for a hotel past it's prime it certainly lacked the modern look of a newer hotel, however the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My room was an average 1 bedroom hotel room, the furniture was definitely worn, however overall the room was well maintained (I've stayed in fairmont rooms in worse shape) my favourite feature of the room was the view of the the city and the harbour. There is no doubt for view the Battery has the best location in the city. (The only drawback about the location it's a short but very steep walk back to the hotel from downtown) Overall, I enjoyed my stay. If you're seeking a high end hotel, it won't be for you, however if you are looking for a clean comfortable place to stay while visiting the city and want to save a more than few dollars I'd recommend the Battery.

Recently we spent a week of vacations in St John's, and were lucky to book a Harbour View room in the Battery Hotel. The vacations were a success despite cold, foggy and wet weather - in a big part because of the hotel. It is located not far from the top Signal Hill with its Cabot Tower, and offers increadible and unforgettable view. The hotel rooms are being upgraded upgraded - with nice floors and witty room names and pretty pictures. Everybody in the hotel was very friendly and very helpful. The price was also quite reasonable - much less than what one would expect - but here I am talking about the Expedia rates (which seem to be the lowest). We could see the hotel not only from nearly every spot in St John's, but also from far away - even from Cape Spear - miles and miles away. If we ever go to St John's again, we will certainly try The Battery first, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to others. It is not the most glamorous hotel in town, but from many points of view (view included) beats easily all others.

We arrived at the Battery to find that there had been an issue with our reservation and someone else had checked in under our name. The staff were helpful and apologetic and quickly fixed the issue and we had our room in no time! Despite the confusion we were pleased with the service we received. The room was clean with a GREAT view of the harbour! The bathroom was clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable! Definitely will be returning again!
