“19th Century Elegance With Modern Conveniences”
The Fairmont Algonquin is a very pleasant hotel to stay in. It has the look and feel of a late 19th century property but that should not discourage a potential traveler from staying there. The hotel staff was efficient and friendly. We made several requests for items while there and they were always provided promptly. The bar was a pleasant place to relax with a glass of wine. The ceiling in our room was high and the window opened to allow fresh air. It was not air conditioned but that was not necessary as it was very cool and pleasant during our stay. The internet connection worked very well. The dog in the reception area added a touch of informality and reflected the pet friendly nature of the area. The breakfast was excellent but very expensive. We did not use the pool as the weather even in summer in New Brunswick seems cool but it seemed very popular. Some of the guests were playing croquet on the lawn and there was a music presentation by a bag pipe player in the afternoon, All in all, it was very pleasant. We would not hesitate to return.
“Like being at the Overlook Hotel at high season and no ghosts!”
This was and Is a gorgeous hotel. The grounds are beautiful with plantings and the building itself is awesome. The common rooms are spacious and elegant and comfortable. The rooms in the old section are small but have a large window overlooking the grounds. No A/C but not needed. The room is elegantly furnished and equipped. Do not fail to visit the Roof Top Garden for views of the Bay of Fundy and bring a refreshment. Service people were awesome. Meals are pricey there, but the experience is worth it.
“too bad it's over”
it is apparent from the lack of investment in the exterior of this hotel that it no longer fits in the Fairmont model. It is a wonderful experiance to visit St Andrews and the Algonquin just enhances that.
“Exceeded our expectations”
Really enjoyed the friendly staff
“A true Fairmount Hotel with the best of everything. The food and the atmosphere is outstanding.”
This is a historic hotel that has been upgraded nicely. Everything is top notch. You will enjoy your stay here. Be sure to enjoy a cocktail or two inside the library.
“Fairmont NB Canada”
The Fairmont chain of properties maintains a certain level of excellence in all of their properties. The Algonquin is no exception to this rule, a world class golf course, fine dining spacious rooms and a class above all others.
“A nice grand old resort”
We enjoyed our stay here . This grand old hotel was like stepping back in time when only the elite travelled. The pool is large and you can enjoy a drink poolside. Dinner was good and served on the large wrap arpund verandah. There is also a golf course. Its a good choice if you want to enjoy the hotel facilities. Probably the best hotel in town.
“historic place”
The Fairmont Algonquin was a nice historic place to stay for the money. Just remember it is an old inn but very charming.
“I will return”
I wish I had had a few days at The Fairmount Algonquin rather than one night. The bed was comfortable and the room well appointed. Perhaps next summer.
“Glorious Hotel”
You felt like you were zipped back a century to a calm retreat. You felt like royalty. Very family friendly.
