“Can't wait to go back”
This hotel is really nice, it is very well maintained and the staff is very friendly!!!
“Excellent vintage hotel”
I usually stay in the big box hotels, but opted for a change and stayed at the Montvale. Very nice character and feel to the hotel. I was just on business alone, but would like to take my wife back some day. Common areas are period decorated and very warm and inviting. My room was very nice (all the rooms are brand new, but period decorated) and except for the train being a half block away (and running all all hours) it was a quiet, safe place. I recommend it highly, although most of the "nicer" areas of downtown are quite a walk up the street.
“What a delight!”
This hotel is a true treasure for Spokane. One not to be missed and enjoy! Great showers!
“Beautiful hotel - beautiful room!”
After staying in way too many hotels with standard floral print bedding and wallpaper trim, it was quite refreshing to stay in the Montvale hotel. The rooms are very modern, with all the necessary amenities. We stayed in the standard room, and it was perfect! The hotel is beautiful, with a center lobby area full of leather chairs and sofas to sit and relax, and a big skylight to light up the area. The only drawback to this hotel is the lack of soda machines or mini-bars. The only way to get something to drink is to go to the restaurant in the basement - Catacombs Pub (also excellent, by the way - try the Smores!). I would not recommend this hotel to families with kids, as there is no pool or anything to entertain them, but it is great for adults.
“A modern boutique”
Delightful and helpful staff
“Lovely”
This hotel was a trip back in time with all the modern amenities. I will stay here again.
“Will always go back to that hotel”
Whenever i go to spokane, i will always go back to that hotel. very satisfied!
“Very, very nice place”
Very nicely restored old hotel with all the modern amenities, and very reasonably priced to boot.
“Would definately stay here again!”
My husband and I absolutely love this hotel and plan to stay here on all future visits to Spokane. The bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the decor of the room with its high ceilings. We had a huge walk-in shower with dual heads, it was a nice little luxury. The staff didn't seem too friendly, with the exception of the valet, who was friendly-enough for everyone put together, but other than the lack of smiles they performed their jobs to our satisfaction. Also, its true about the noise at night. It's VERY noisy when the bars let out, so I highly suggest earplugs. We'll be bringing them along next time.
“Great Place!”
I've only been to the Spokane area a couple of times, so finding the Montvale was a little tricky. The outdoor signage was very minimal. Although there's self parking lot pretty close, it was pretty cramped. If arriving during the the weekday or weekend, I'd recommend using their (fast & courteous) valet service. Trust me, not only will it save you in gas, but also a lot of headache. Check in was fast and the staff was very friendly. We received the King Deluxe room and it was very quaint. The bed was very comfortable and the jetted tub was very soothing. We were placed on the street side just above the entrance, so there was a lot of noise. I'm not sure who it was, but somebody was projecting a black and white movie onto the side of the building across the street from us, and that was pretty cool! Nightlife... Restaurants, theaters, bars, and dancing, all within walking distance. The continental breakfast simple, but good. The "old-world" decor and the convenient location of the Catacombs was awesome (I'll have to have dinner there next time). There I noticed a lot of younger couples (early 20's - early 30's). My overall impression of the Montvale was fantastic. The room comfort was great, the ammenities, conveniences, staff, and rates were just as equal. The only thing I was not impressed with was the lack of insulation which allowed a lot of outside noise to pertrude. Other than that, I would totally recommend it to anybody.
