Pros: Location, quiet, free kayaking, being away from the more crowded areas like Boothbay Harbor.
Cons: Bathrooms, rooms could be freshened.
Location: Kayaking, nature, lovely restaurant called Oliver's nearby (good luck finding it). Coastal Maine Botanical Garden is a must.
Nice location on a quiet island with very little commercial activity and few restaurants. Good views of the water and free kayaking and other activities (ping pong, pool, hot tub). On a wooded campus. Breakfast was generous but just OK.

Pros: It was near the water . The lawns were beautiful it was peace full and a great view Of the Sun raising and setting. Breath taking.
Cons: Some of the stations on the tv didn't have a voice and jumped up and down. Other then that no complains.
Location: You didn't have far to go to find things to do. We liked being near the water and town. Many shops to go in . Many places to eat. Many boat trips .
We had a great time the breakfast eat morning was very good sitting by the water Was also beautiful . Going in to town was fun we kept busy the whole time.

My husband, daughter & I stayed here for one night on a trip up the coast of Maine. Our time at the Ocean Gate was a highlight of our trip. We loved how secluded it was, the view was absolutely beautiful, and the landscaping around the property was lovely. Our room had a perfect view & had very comfortable furnishings. It was such a relaxing time & we definitely hope to come back!

Rustic camp with warm charmPosted 16-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay very much. We were in the area visiting propsective colleges with our daughter and wanted to experience coastal Maine. We had a beautiful view of the water and a nice, clean room. The breakfast was served in a separate building and was more than sufficient. The only downside was that we could hear the people in the room upstairs--not so much their voices, but definitely heard them walking around, getting up to use the restroom, etc. A little soundproofing would be an improvement in an overall relaxing stay.
