The room was very dated, but it was also Clean. It was a good size room. The refrigerator was VERY LOUD, it was a "cannot sleep through" loud. Instructions on the AC instructed occupier to leave fan on to cover the loud refrigerator noise. My suggestion is for the owner to get a quieter refrigerator, or the occupant unplug the refrigerator at night, but to run one loud item to drown out another loud item seems silly. The outside of the property is clean and cute and fits into the setting. The breakfast room leaves a lot to be desired and management needs to try and make it a little more inviting, or maybe they really do not want people coming in for breakfast? I am not sure. The staff was very kind and welcoming when I checked in and I felt that if I had any big issues that they would probably handled them in a positive way. The motel is very close to everything and it was easily walkable to shops, stores, and sights. It is several blocks to walk to the lake but I felt it was a beautiful walk. We stayed during the off season, so it was not congested and the area was quiet.

Nice new-looking room, but furniture a bit beat up. New towels etc. every day (not really needed). Very good staff. Would definitely stay there again -- good price right in the middle of the Village. Only issues: weird high step up into room easy to trip over, and covered pool full of junk and stagnant water.

Thanks for the perfect rating and review Allan. Like most properties we don't change the towels daily unless they are on the floor. Hung ones we leave alone to save water. As for the pool we are on our fourth draft for the city and that is why all mention of us having a pool has been removed from all websites.

Very clean room. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast is basic, but good. Only issue for us was the 8am start time for breakfast. 7am or earlier would be better.

A hidden gem if you need to stay for a night, clean and within walking distance from all the shops in South Lake Tahoe. It was perfect for a last minute overnight when it was too windy/cold to go camping.

I am sorry you were in the breakfast room at the same time a guest decided to put butter in a toaster causing all the smoke. We opened the windows and door but sometimes it takes a bit for this to clear up. The napkins are located on the wall so not sure how that was missed and our plates are made of recycled paper and sugar cane by product.

This is an older motel that has been well taken care of. The front desk folks are very courteous. The rooms are very clean, and it appears the carpet is relatively new. Great location to lake and entertainment.

Not the fanciest place, but it was really great to be so close to the Heavenly gondola. The room and the bathroom were clean. The front desk person was nice and the check in process was easy. I left something in the room and they actually called me to let me know. That never happens. I would highly recommend staying there if you want to visit Heavenly.

This location would have received 5 stars but two incidents in my opinion were mishandled by staff. 1) on the first night we arrived, we kept getting calls to phone in the room & no one was responding. It was extremely creepy, we could hear the other person breathing over the phone & watching tv, so we knew someone was intentionally calling. If we tried to ignore the calls, the phone wouldn’t stop ringing. I went over to the front desk to ask if they have call records or see if there was something they could do. They said there was nothing they could do & that they recommend we just unplug the phone. Which I ended up doing. It was like someone was calling to check if we were in the room, it was frightening. 2) the next night my partners key had never worked, only mine but now mine was not working at all. So we went to the front office to let them know our keys weren’t working & they just asked what room we were staying in. No ID checks, not even asking to verify our names, it was insane. This seems like hotel 101, which made the first situation that scarier because it means anyone could ask for a key to our room. Overall, the room was decently clean, it’s in a prime location, & the continental breakfast is a nice touch, but I was displeased with how they handled giving us a new room key & the calling situation. I will have to think twice about staying again.

I am sorry you feel this way and I too would be upset that a random guest probably ignoring their child while they play with the hotel phone and keeps calling your room. We get them all the time in the lobby at it is frustrating that adults allow this. I, though, would not have been upset with the hotel over this as there is no way to know where the call originates. This is the same as last week as a guest blamed us for the drunk knocking on the wrong door and waking them up. I know people like to vent online, but blaming businesses for the idiots of the world is in no way valid. Now the key is a problem, but with only three staff that work the desk and all of them being here no less than 6.5 years they might have actually recognized you, but yes they should still verify.

I have no idea how this property has received 9.4 rating. The reason we booked it was for the ratings and also the walkable distance to the event that we were attending. Upon arrival into our room, we were immediately greeted by a very obnoxious refrigerator that would hum loudly on and off. We booked three nights. When asked to have it replaced, Randall the property manager condescendingly told us, “most people aren’t accustomed to sleeping in their kitchen.” my response was, “I have stayed in many hotels where the refrigerators in the same room, and not experienced this. He sent a maintenance man up who looked at it and said I can’t do anything about this because they are all like this. so if you like to have some quiet on your stay, I would not suggest booking this hotel. Also they do garbage service at 7 AM on Monday morning and it is a very loud and noisy area. On a positive side, it’s right across the street from the heavenly gondola, and a short walk to the casinos.

HI Annika and yes we are a very highly rated property but not close to a 9.4. As you can see over 90% of our reviews are for great location, nice staff and clean rooms. Like I said some sleepers have issues with sleeping with a fridge in the room as they are not used to sleeping in the kitchen. I guess that is condescending to you. Fridge compressors kick on and off all night so they can do their job. And if this was such an issue for you I am confused as you extended your stay.
