“Deal in Sorrento”
This "hostel" is really a hotel and an extremely nice one. It is in a great location close to the pedestrian zone. It is big, clean, air conditioned, and has a wonderful breakfast.
“"Would be back in an instance"”
We loved this "hostel' (better than any hotel we've stayed at in Europe) hugh room, plenty of wardrobe space. We had a balcony and a spa bath which was great after a day of sight seeing. The windows had security shutters so we were able to sleep in.The location was excellent, five minutes to the centre of the tourist district.Breakfast was good-fruit,cereal ,yogurt and selection of cakes. The staff were fantastic, they helped us with our tours and also our travel plans going out of their way to find train time tables and connections for us. The only fault we could find (it is minor) was the maintenance could have been better, especially because it is a new building.Overall fabulous value for money
“Great winter bargain”
Ulysse Deluxe Hotel was surprisingly clean and very well maintained. I felt we paid a really good price for such a nice place, but it was low season. Breakfast was very good, although nothing exceptional. Good location, just minutes from the main shopping street. Staff weren't always happy to be there, but generally they were helpful and pleasant.
“More Hotel than Hostel!”
Although called a hostel, the Ulisse is more like a 3-star hotel. I stayed on my own in a double room (would have cost the same for 2) but it was still very good value for Sorrento. Bathroom was spacious and well-equipped and white towels were changed every other day. Small fridge and safety deposit box in the room were very useful and included in the price I paid with Expedia. Hostel was very conveniently located in the historical centre and 10 minutes on foot from main square. No balconies but big windows and I had pleasant view looking up hill towards the Capo di Sorrento (no sea views available). Hostel was very clean. Cannot comment on breakfast as had room only. There is access to the fitness centre with indoor pool but you have to pay extra per visit - rather expensive. Overall thought the Ulisse very good value for money and especially for families or friends travelling together as you pay per room.
“Excellent budget choice for Sorrento”
Sorrento is a lovely town, and a good base to explore neighbouring Naples, the Amalfi coast and Capri. The big drawback is that there is not much in the way of good budget accommodation for those wishing to stay in comfort without paying a fortune. The town has a campsite and various hotels in the upper end of the spectrum, so this find was a delight. Although technically a 'deluxe hostel', the service was very good, rooms pleasant and well appointed, staff helpful and facilities excellent - with car parking on the roof and a thermal spa (day passes available). I would strongly recommend this to other tourists on a budget seeking comfort.
“The "Best"”
The best hotel we stayed in during or 18 day visit to italy. They treat you like family !!!!! Don't let the word hostile through you off. central location , walking distance to everything..the staff is wonderful.!!!!!! biggest and best rooms of any other. Do not hesitate to stay here !!!!! We travel often in usa and this is up above par to many american hotels... Four Star in our opinion...
“Great deal in Sorrento”
Wow. You could play polo in the room it is so big...bathroom and all is beautiful, polished and clean. It is a ways from the station and center of town- be prepared for a bit of a walk- but is quiet and an absolutely outstanding value.
“Very surprised”
Very welcoming staff, the minute we walked in we felt comfortable and well informed. Very helpful with any questions we had, they went beyond what I would have expected. Room was surprisingly large, as was the bathroom. Everything was very clean. Location was great, in between the two main harbors and only minutes from the main drag; yet far enough away to be quiet and secluded. They call it a hostel, but having stayed in a double room, I certainly never got that impression. Highest marks!
“More than a hostel”
This Hostel was much better than we expected and a great price for the location which is very close to the heart of Sorrento. The staff where really friendly and always happy to help in any way they could. The rooms are large and very comfortable, but the views are limited most rooms face in towards inner courtyards which are not that attractive considering the location of the hotel. We asked to have our room canged to one looking out in to the valley alongside and it was arranged immediately, but this may not be possible if the hostel is full so it may be worth specifying your room when booking.
“Wonderful Vacation”
We really enjoyed our stay in Italy. We stayed at Ulisse and used it as a base for the entire duration of our trip. We took the Currera bus from the airport to Sorrento, which worked out very well. The bus left us at the main square, so there was a 10-20 minute walk to the hotel with luggage. We packed lightly, expecting this, but the hotel cannot be seen from the main street, and we went down the wrong flight of steps at first. (take the first steps after the hospital). The hotel was very nice - clean, and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was continental - bread, cake, rolls, cereals, fruit, and coffee. It was good, but we needed something more filling for our big sight seeing expeditions, so we ate at restaurants after the first three days. I really appreciated having a refrigerator . The trains and buses start at the main square, so we walked to the square everyday. The walk up the stairs and down the street (Corso Italia) wasn't bad, but after all the walking around the sights, it did get tiring. I did not think through the transportation back to the hotel very well - our flight left early, so we had to hire a private shuttle. Some hotels night offer free shuttles to the main square and/or airport, so be sure to include that in your consideration.
