“Would certainly go back”
The layout of the hotel is labyrinthine; there are too many fake flower arrangements; the bedside tables were too small & hairdryer under-powered - but very few other negative observations. The situation is glorious, especially the view of Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples at breakfast; pool & beach both great (both very salty!), restaurants have good food, & service throughout was attentive, courteous & helpful, & if your Italian is rusty most of the staff speak good English. Our room wasn't overly large, but had a balcony & sea view, & the bathroom was well-stocked (daily) & plenty of hot water in a good shower. The hotel is by the beach, so some way out of town, but there are other restaurants very close, from excellent incredible value pizzas to splash-out haute cuisine with fabulous wines. Hire a car & take SatNav (roads are terrible, signposting dire, local drivers scary - but easily best way to see Pompeii, Herculaneum & Paestum), but don't miss taking the ferry to Naples.
“Ideal for a quiet holiday”
The hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and the hotel was clean and well presented. Le Axidie was located well for daily activities and sight seeing, and set in a peaceful and scenic spot with views across to Vesuvius. Down point, the hotel's own restaurant was expensive and not good value for money. There wasnt enough going on at the hotel in the evening, or in and around Seiano where the hotel is, as opposed to Vico Equense, a train journey away. It was quiet nights and early to bed!!
“Good hotel but not really worth it in winter”
This hotel is very clean, with nice rooms and good services. Nonetheless, it is not really worth it during cold months because you cannot take advantage of the pool (which is outside), the private beach, the beach volley court and so on. It would be lovely in the summer but the location makes it not that enjoyable in the winter. You also need to walk fifteen minutes up and down a hill to get to the nearest train station.
“Beautiful surroundings and lovely hotel.”
We arrived late and they had been waiting for us. Despite this our first impressions of the staff were curtious and polite (English a but rusty but we got by). They had to show us to our room as the hotel is a maze. Our room was nice enough with sky TV and minibar. Room wasn't very large but the bathroom was clean, well stocked and with a good shower. Plus we had a balcony with a sea view. The only disappointment was that we had two twin beds pushed together. The hotel grounds were lovely and very large. They had vast lemon tree plots and lots of little nooks and cranies to explore. They had lots of more secluded areas so you could have some privcy. The private beach was ok, pebbley though and you had to pay extra to use a sun lounger. The main swimming pool was large, not great for swimming though unless you like swallowing large amounts of salty water! There was a smaller plunge pool as well that was tucked away. They had a hot tub and sauna but you had to pay extra for that. We didn't use the hotel restaurant but the continential breakfast was good with prompt service. The surrounding area was lovely with a fantastic view of Mt Vesuvius. The Marina it's situated in, is very pretty, quiet and not very touristy. There are a couple of local restaurants which are worth a look. You get the impression lots of local Italians come here rather then tourists, which is nice. Overall we had a good stay here, I would definately recommend it to anyone.
“Nice but off the beaten track”
A little difficult to find even with a GPS, probably almost impossible without a car. Friendly staff who speak good English, and a good location for exploring the surrounding area with a car. A large complex - not everything was open when I was tere in April.
“Great location for families but a dated hotel”
The hotel has a great location and many nice services included for families such as a pool, a beach and a kids club. The room was spacious and the restaurant is fine and very well located, with a beautiful view of the Vesuvio and the Napolitan bay. But the hotel is in need of a major renovation. It feels really dated and in need of an update.
“Great getaway/sun holiday”
Hotel itself is very clean with tons of amenities. The staff were all (but one) very helpful and went out their way to help. Their "private" beach is actually open to the public for a small fee, so it can get a bit crowded, and the pool gets taken over by children. In the hotel itself it's very quiet and the dining areas are too. Breakfast was a nice continental, lunch options were in the outdoor dining area or a cafeteria style line with excellent home made dishes. Dinner, well, I'd suggest trying one of the many other choices around the hotel. Eveyone who worked their was helpful, except the dining staff, one waiter in particular. So, maybe you'll do better, but we found that dining out each night was more enjoyable.
“Lovely hotel - great views - quiet location”
We travelled throughout Italy and this hotel was the highlight. Great location, overlooking Naples Bay/Mt Vesuvuis (from our balcony), friendly staff. Lovely restaurant. Quiet spot, located between Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast.
“Site exceptionnel”
Au bord d'une plage privée avec terrases et piscine personnel très prévenant petit port à cinquante metres d'où on peut prendre le bateau pour Naples ou Sorente Un petit paradis
“nice hotel shame about the service”
The hotel room itself was large and spacious and very comfortable. Unfortunately the noise that came from the corridors and the staff outside our room talking disturbed our sleep somewhat. The restaurant service was terrible and we were advised that the last order was 10pm. We arrived and ordered at 9.30pm and were rushed through our dinner by the waiting staff. To the extent they tried to take our man courses off us before we were finished. We ended up taking our dessert to our room as the staff made us feel that uncomfortable. The quality of the food itself was mediocre and much better is to be found in Vico Equense itself. The only saving grace was the continental breakfast which was included in our room rate. There was plenty of choice and the waiteress was pleasant.
