“Would Stay There Again”
Hotel staff excellent and helpful in all respects. Free hotel bus transportation to Sorrento Plaza. Food in restaurant good, a bit pricey but convenient. Only negative was the coffee but then we are "coffe snobs". Excellent swimming pool.
“Beautiful setting away from city centre”
Enjoy a view of the sea if you are above the 1st floor. A few hotels in area but not much else. Leisurely 20 min. walk to city center or city bus every 20 min. Beautiful location. Take a stroll down to the seaside at dusk!
“Great hotel for the price”
We had a good experience at this hotel! Staff was friendly, accomodating and spoke pretty good English. Rooms were big (20 foot ceilings) and comfortable. Every room has a patio, the front of the hotel faces the ocean, but only the top two floors have a view. Maid service is questionable, but the hotel is in good condition and clean throughout. Pool was very nice! Theres nothing really next to this hotel, we spent all our time in town or in neighboring spots (like Capri and Positano) when we weren't at the pool.
“Too far from station to walk”
Nice hotel but in a far off location. Don't even think about trying to walk there. It is uphill, with traffic, no sidewalk, and it is hot dragging luggage up a hill.
“On a hill”
Hotel on a hill and it says that there is a courtesy shuttle to the town. This only runs if there are 10 passengers so when we went at the start of the season it didnt run much at all. The taxis are expensive. The town is in walking distance but there are no pavements so not recommended especially at night. Hotel although clean is in need of modernising. I also requested sea view but was put at the back of the hotel and the hotel wasnt even full.
“Beware”
The hotel is clean, comfortable and friendly. Our room was spacious and well appointed.The evening meal offered free for stays of 5 days or more is a table d'hote menu. Whilst the food is good, you are constrained to eat it along with many package tour groups, who all seem to be on half-board terms. There is a free bus shuttle offered to town (about 3 kms), but it does not run between 17.00 and 20.45. Presumably because every guest appears to eat in the hotel. The first kilometre of the walk has no pavement, and one is forced to walk in the road. A suicidal experience at night.
“Grand Hotel Atlantic Palace - Sorrento”
The hotel facade and entrance vestibule look good but in general the rooms are tired and in need of some refurbishment, especially the bathrooms. The hotel is convenient for central Sorrento and a good hotel shuttle-bus service is available. The dining arrangements were ok but you have to be in early to ensure quality of food and service; you are certainly rushed if you are still in the dining room shortly before it closes. The Waiters are a little too formal and there is no atmosphere in the Dining Room at all. The pool is good and a lovely sun trap and the balconies on the front of the hotel are pleasent. To say this was a 4-star is overly exagerated; it's 3-star at best.
“Wouldn't return to this hotel”
We & several friends all booked here for a short stop in Sorrento. We were very disappointed with this hotel. The front desk staff was not at all helpful with our requests for assistance. At one point we asked for help in setting up transportation to the port and the desk clerk actually said "I'm too busy, come back tomorrow morning". One of the guest rooms smelled like mildew (in the newer part of the building), so I wouldn't recommend taking a room in that section. The complimentary breakfast was good & the dining room staff was friendly & helpful. We arrived in the late afternoon after traveling all day and the only food available were some stale pre-made sandwiches at the bar. The outdoor terrace was a nice place for an afternoon drink & there was live entertainment in the bar the night we were there.
